We wanted a haunted cemetery that was filled with real looking large ordinary gravestones. Most Halloween tombstones are fake or silly, but not these Halloween decorations. These graves are a must-have for any creepy cemetery or graveyard themed haunt. We have made a animated breathing grave, a haunted bell tombstone, moving tombstones, monuments, obelisks, gravestone poppers, mausoleums, crypt walls, pet cemetery, entrance gates, crosses, coffins, even fresh dug graves, but not just plain realistic big tombstones. The tombstone decor is made from 3/4" plywood and sculpted foam. The carved foam and wood are hard coated, and then spray textured. The Halloween tombstones are heavy-duty and windproof. They are held in place by sliding over a piece of rebar hammered into the yard. You installed PVC pipe inside the tombstones so the steel bar had a place to insert into. This tombstone design is perfect for filling the space of your graveyard, and you could even add a fun epitaph if you wanted.

Funny story… I made a circle stage last year based off of one of your circus props. This was for a TV audition that didn’t move forward. I was about to take everything to Good Will just to get it out of our garage. Then I saw your recent videos and now I’ve been inspired again. I’m going to use that lumber along with some other scraps to finally make some tombstones. WaHoo! You guys are the best. 💥BOOM!!!💥™

Your short video formula is great, not to say the longer, more detailed presentations were a bad idea! 🙂 I think longer videos have their place and are appreciated for their detail, but short videos definitely make your channel more attractive to more casual audience. Was that texture all dry-lok? The stuff here is not that thick or rough looking. It has a minimal sand texture.

So we sprayed a mortar mix on first and then applied the drylok. We have also mixed the concrete in with the drylok and brushed on for more texture.

What epoxy resin do you use to coat the wood? Also, why exactly do you do it? Have you previously had failures due to the wood absorbing moisture?

We use epoxamite smooth on product to cover the foam. Sometimes, we coat the wood aswell if it's a small space but we don't need to. The wood seems fine sealed with all the paint layers.

This is actually their Halloween set up. They should bring some of it back out in September for this years set up. We'll have to see as the haunt changes every year.

I HAVE to make at least one tombstone this year. I usually buy them but they are too small for my liking. What epoxy resin do you use if I may ask?

We used SmoothOn Epoximite. If you don't need it crazy protected, you can get away with drylock or even mix in a little mortar with it and brush it on. Then just paint or age it up.

@donnytucker yes, but only if you wanted more of a gritty texture. Drylok by itself is good for home can't props and has a little sand in it, but the mortar adds even more. You could test out some pieces of foam to see what you like.
