Because Latin is the official language of the Church. However, the language is only a small issue compared to the radical errors introduced in the N.O.

@@lervish1966 You 'learned' that in school, so you regurgitate it. 'Dead language' simply means that it doesn't change with fashion and trends. The words remain constant with the things and concepts they signify. Frankly, any language that changes and drifts is ambiguous by design. The unchanging Latin is also the language of 'science', particularly the natural sciences like biology, because it is constant and consistent.
