Idk about your prediction for “the alchemy” because alchemy is highly associated with gold… and joe is the “golden” boy. She used gold whenever she would talk about their happiness so I think it’ll be about how she would think it was golden but it was just a trick or magician’s work. Also, did you notice “my muses that I acquired like bruises” muses as in the lakes… This album is going to be DESTRUCTIVE.

Alchemy, in that you’re trying to turn something into gold, will never work. It is impossible (for humans), because gold is an element. So if Tay’s talking about alchemy, she could be talking about a failed experiment that she thought would produce a golden result. Additionally, literature and society have often depicted alchemists as obsessive and unhinged in their pursuits. Frollo, the evil priest in the Hunchback of Notre Dame, was an alchemist (book, not Disney movie).

It’s more commonly used in Great Britain, but you’ll find it a lot in older American writings. It fits well thematically with Midnights, imo, where we got a series of snapshots of different points in her life…songs, in the original release of Midnights, from thirteen late nights. If TPD is something of a continuation of Midnights, “Fortnight” is the fourteenth night.

Trying to suppress who someone is, is wrong. Then seems like he started to just tolerate her instead of love her. It’s sad but sometimes relationship falling outs take years. It’s not as simple as you may think either. It’s easy to love someone, be hurt and come back.

Yes all the track titles were correct except for the last one. It seems the last one was either retitled the manuscript or it’s an entirely different song left off the album and they added the manuscript instead. Or perhaps it will be an extra bonus song for a target edition or something

I agree with what some people have said, this is a breakdown rather than breakup album. I get the feeling that her and Joe are both tortured artists with lots of emotional issues that weren’t compatible based on previous albums and the ups and downs that seemed to accompany their love story. "Loml" is giving insignificance. As in, when you call someone the "love of your life" it's deep and meaningful, but when you turn it into an acronym so frequently used, it takes away that power. You can say "loml" about anyone, but you wouldn't spell it out. It feels like Taylor might be mocking the whole pedestal she put Joe on and how she thought he was the one but now looks back at it differently.

When I first saw the title "Guilty As Sin" I immediately thought of the one line from "Carolina". I forgot exactly how it goes but I think it's like "that I was guilty as sin and sleep in a liars bed". Carolina was released in 2022 but was probably written earlier. I don't think we will get any Travis content in this album. I think The Alchemy is about Joe. She often describes him as golden in Lover. However Alchemy is a psuedoscience that people used to believe it was possible to turn other elements into gold. We now know it's not really how it works. I think the song will be about how she used to think everything he touched turned to gold but now she knows that was a false science.

Oh this is gonna end careers. She wrote Red about a 3 month relationship and it still was a deep cut. This one is about a 6 year relationship that drained her for however long. INTERESTING THEORY because if it is “loss of my life,” then it would make so much more sense why she started crying when she sang “wondering if I dodged a bullet or just lost the love of my life” from IDWTLF surprise song night. Maybe that lyric triggered her cause it reminded her of this song!

the manuscript as a concept kind of makes me think of an original plan, like things she actually wanted to write in midnights about the turkey that she withheld because she was still in that relationship (not sure how she would make that into a song though) especially in connection to "all's fair in love and poetry" - which to me sounds like "i'm not gonna go to the press and talk about you but in my art i'll lay everything bare and i'm gonna stop withholding information to make this relationship seem better than it was" in the sense that poetry is fair game and she can be comletely open there? would be interested in everyone else's thoughts though

@@gem2923 some random tiktok account commented on a video in january that she has a new album called the tortured poets department, obviously no one paid attention to it at the time people only started noticing the comment after she announced the album. the same account also posted the tracklist, which again no one took seriously mostly because of the track titles but it was also real lol there was only one additional song called "the bolter" which isn't on the album

@@katelynnrice4983 nah, the Grammys hate is not that substantial in the grand scheme of things and it's mostly her haters making a fuss out of nothing. if she waited for like a few days people would have naturally moved on anyway. it's more likely that it got leaked or she's trying to get ahead of the leak because the same thing happened to the midnight tracklist reveal.

So after the tracklist drop I have so many theories: 1) I feel like " my boy only likes to break his favourite toys'' is going to be gut- wrenching cause I feel like she'll tell that she is his toy,the way he sees her. Also, it's a possible parallel to paper rings: "wrap your hands around me BABY BOY" that could also explain the toy thing. 2) The Alchemy is giving the archer mixed with the Alcott. 3) Clara Bow might be her as a narrative. Like she is the chairman in some way. I don't know is that makes sense. Also, Bow seems like a shorten version of Bowerry, Joe's songwriter name. 4) I feel like a lot have seen about the Ariel parallel id But daddy I love him, and to my mind that would be the prequel to Bejeweled. Similar to mirrorball since it's also a track six Everything seems so interesting and I can't wait for April 19th!!

I'm interested how the Post Malone collab will work since even though he does do alternative pop-rock sounds with the way the Florence collab and multiple longer track titles are shaping up the album, it can still be an urban track with the likes of I Like You ft. Doja Cat, Wow. Rockstar, or White Iverson.

I'm soo excited for this album..I really hope that this marks a new beginning for more authentic personal songwriting combining elements of folklore and evermore eloquent writing. I'd also be very interested in a song describing her struggles to maintain a good public image for her (sometimes idealistic in previous albums) relationship while staying true to her diaristic songwriting...how hard it must have been for her to hide her emotions under albums like folklore. Hope there is also a song like 'Silver Springs' possibly commenting on how much of her work has been inspired by Joe

Y’all, I remember two things especially: the night I Bet You Think About Me was a surprise song, you can FEEL it’s pointedness at the old 🦃. Also how happily she told the crowd on the 1st tour night after the breakup news: “You passed the vibe check…” i think she was afraid this breakup could damage her relationship with her fans, and was relieved at the love she felt 💖💜
