I have guitar tone gear videos fatigue. We can get great tones from so many different pieces of gear if we just put in the time to learn how. That's been my approach, and it's working on my HX Stomp. I don't feel like I'm missing out on any tones.

That intro tune (and tone) is amazing! Great job! I have the full size Tonex and I love it. There are just so many great captures out there that I have immediately meshed with vs. struggling to find sounds I love with other platforms. I've ordered a Tonex One and I'm cry excited for it, but not because I care about legendary amps. I'm excited because it will free up enough DSP on my HX Stomp that I'll finally be able to use Poly Pitch. I had a Boss IR2 but sold it after 2 months. I didn’t really get on with the inbuilt amps even with my own IRs loaded. I’m having so much more fun with the FREE tonex app. I don’t really need the Tonex One as I use my laptop connected to my pedal board 😊 The key is to KEEP IT SIMPLE and not get bogged down buying bundles and everything else under the sun. I’ve e ordered one. I use the ToneX software already and it’ll be great to have some of the sounds on my board. I also like that you load pedals on it and use it as an extra drive pedal. The user interface looks really easy to grasp too. Just waiting to see how long I’ll have to wait for stock to come in. I can see my board going down to just the BossBD-2, HX Stomp and the ToneX One.. For the price I think it looks a no brained.

For me it's just a cool tiny thing to play around with. I have an HX Stomp but wanted to try out some tonex sounds as well because my mate has one and I think the tones sound a bit more like a real amp. Now I can test around with it in the effects loop of the HX Stomp and it's a cool thing to carry around even for practice without a PC or Laptop anywhere you like. Can't wait to test it out. Love this honest and down to earth approach of yours for this review. Cheers!

I don't always catch the significance of something like stereo output on a pedal such as this, so I appreciate your incite into the headphone usage. This clearly shows how it might be a more versatile solution to a Boss Go. This seems to have more versatility as a pedal, given the Go is pretty much just a mobile modeled amp solution.

Right, the option to work in-the-box and then take that tone on the road is what lured me to Line 6, and now I'm dipping into ToneX (via native) for the same reason, looking at it as a way to free up HX Stomp XL DSP or to use with my HX Effects. -Tom

I'm quite happy they put this out. Because, it's affordable I've got amps for my three most used tones: Fender-style Clean, Marshall JTM & Vox AC30. But, there's a someamps tones I'd like to be able to access, but can't afford the amps, or space. And two of those are even included here as presets: Dumble & Rockerverb or Matamp. I'd like to sometimes use a Marshall JCM800 & Plexi tone too, so this can do that for me too. And I think it's especially good having loud/higher-gain amps in model form, because I couldn't crank them that hard at home. And looking to add some small character amp, like Tweed Deluxe, Vox AC4, Vibro-champ. They'll sell loads of these I reckon, especially if prices drop a little by Christmas :)

As Tonex provides static captures, I'm wondering if an amp or amp+overdrive or just overdrive capture at a certain gain level (such as an edge- of- break up tone) can still be adjusted on the pedal to optimize for single coil vs humbucker. I like pedals (vs. modelers) because I can easily adjust on the fly. I was thinking of getting the Tonex One strictly for overdrive captures and have versatility to switch to a klon, bluesbreaker, KOT, etc for different tones and gain stages. Decisions, decisions.....

When I get my TONEX ONE I will feed it into a trusty old Zoom G3X (for FX only, not amp/cab) as my band practice rig. TONEX ONE could also be a standalone backup for live gigs if my Helix goes down and easily fits into a pocket on my Helix backpack. I think the included software for use in your DAW is huge. I use Helix Native at home instead of the Helix floor unit and would like the extra options the IK stuff would provide.

John thanks for the comments great stuff on this hyped up gear from ToneX. You started to go down the road with the "pay to play" with models that are artist based models. From my perspective if its a great capture of an artist's real amp rig, I don't mind paying a little extra. I am not a capture guy myself, but I would definitely use a very good preset capture from their library.

Hopefully they offer them in a stand alone price point without the software. Buy the first one with the software and then hopefully you can buy a second, third, forth etc at a lower price point. Then you have a ton of flexibility, amp / cab in one or boost, delay on another, reverb on another and any other effect on others. Then combine with the IR-2 and you have a very high level modeling system. The IR-2 is and will more than likely be the heart of my rig. In 35 years of playing guitar, the IR-2 for me is the single best piece of gear Ive ever bought.
