Our Journey! How did we get here?
In the winter of 2019 we moved in to our self built van full time to begin living, working and travelling Canada. We quickly fell in love with chasing our dreams of adventuring off the beaten path, living off grid and being self sustaining. We drove our van thousands of miles through various countries-Canada, USA, Mexico & Guatemala. All of which we documented here on our channel, be sure to check that out! After many years on the open road we found ourselves 15 acres of remote woods of Canada where we are building a homestead and renovating our fully off the grid cabin. We are diving into this chapter of our lives in no experience, we're so happy we can bring you all along as we learn to do it all with our own two hands. Thank you for being here with us for cabin life, van life and all the in between!

Give this video a thumbs up if we made you laugh or cry!! We certainly did both 🥲 Happy this video is finally live, we posted on our community page about the delay (subscribe + turn on notifications to be notified) we had major technical difficulties this morning with this upload. It’s been a YEAR since we last sat down to answer your questions- we love sharing more with you and getting vulnerable! See you Sunday Pack & think about singing up for therapy with BH 💛

As someone who was adopted, I love that you’re open to it. There are so many kids who need, and deserve, a safe home and loving family.
@bobbiejojackson9448
@bobbiejojackson9448 4 ай бұрын
I agree 100%. Unfortunately, the stories that you hear the most about adoption, are the horror stories and the tragic experiences. I understand that not everyone feels like the luckiest kid on Earth because of adoption. In fact, some people have had unbelievably heartbreaking experiences and I genuinely feel deeply sorry for what they've been through. But you rarely hear about the people who've had a truly amazing life BECAUSE they were adopted... by incredibly loving and wonderful people who've loved and provided the best life possible for their children, whether those children are biologically theirs or not. I thank God every day for my parents - and they ARE my parents. They've been my mom and dad from day one and they'll be my mom and dad until my last day. I could never even think of anyone else as my parents. As cliche as it might seem to say it, parents aren't always just the people who "create" you or give birth to you. They're the people who've loved you and sacrificed for you and did their best to raise you to be kind and compassionate human beings. I am lucky enough to be one of those "children" who were given the chance to have an amazing life and I'll be forever grateful for it. Anyway... I'll get off my soapbox now. I guess that I just needed to let people know that there's a very positive side of adoption because I live it every day. 💛😌

I am 73 and was adopted, at Birth, and was raised by an extremely loving mother and father. After watching you for the last couple of years, I know that if you decide to adopt or have children naturally, you two will make great parents. You love for each other show every time you put out a new video. I am looking forward to your next project, hope it's the lake home, and seeing you two working together as a team. You two are awesome!

How about a foster child this summer that might turn into an adoption? With fostering a child you not only get to give them the routine of life they need but think of the skills you can teach them! Some young man or woman could be 10 years old and know how to rehab a home, grow veggies in the greenhouse, care for pets, drive the UTV and garden tractor and so much more. Think of it as mentoring while fostering a child! PS: If your going to have a child of your own I nominate Porter to be "dad" in whatever capacity fits! :)

I think you're wrong..I would tell them to just buy the 2 extra properties quietly.. and finish a project before announcing more and more and more.. it is starting to seem like they went from living a modest and minimalist life to never having enough.. every toy , every tool etc. A van they don't use, 2 trucks, a tractor, a side by side, motorcycle, hot tub, sauna, greenhouse they won't use, on 3 properties.. excessive and often wasteful..I get the need for content.. but just like Tyler and todd.. they seem to have gotten so much money they cannot focus on what their dream really is.. it's become just consuming as much as possible.

Yes, Thank You, Jazz is Right your past made you the Strong Determined Perfectionist Woman that you are, to get things done As an adult, I realized my own perfectionism came from growing up, if I just made this thing PERFECT, I thought somehow I could Control The frickin Chaos that was going on, SO AS an adult, I have tried to Counterbalance that perfectionism, by buying a set of used plates Naming them, an issue, and breakin the hell out of em. It helps to change the behavior😅 and don't allow myself to clean it up for a week or so, then I used all those pretty broken pieces in a outdoor shower, cement floor

As a 50 year old man from the Netherlands who has everything going for myself and my family I love watching homestead videos. I am following your channel for a long time now but you 2 girls always amaze me. One time with the building and perseverance, the other time with the way you grow and are able to aquire new properties. Now with the way you two are able to pass on true love, emotions, struggles and joy just in a video. I wish I could express my respect for the two of you more than just virtually take off my hat and bow. You 2 are very special human beings. I hope you let us be able to join you life journey through KZfaq for a long long time and if you even do a meet-up, wherever I will try anything to join and shake hands.

I wish you much happiness, and may all your dreams and goals come true. As a parent of two and now grandfather of four, I would offer that parenting pushes everything else to the side. Not regrettably, but watching someone else parent is not the same as being a parent. Our sons are now adulting and will sometimes ask how we found time for everything. We prioritized being parents, and some things got postponed, for a decade or two. Like travel that did not focus on our children or at least engage them. We are doing that now, in our 70s. Also one piece of advice we received that puzzeled us until we were doing it. One child keeps you busy. Two children will keep you 4 times busier. And approaching our 50th year of marriage I can say it has all been worth it. And even more. We like to buy Christmas ornaments each year that represent important chapters in our story. In that way our tree is our biography. Lots of ornaments are about our sons and now our grandchildren. Lately we are adding ornaments about our travels. That works for us and you will find what works for you. Thanks for sharing your story.

So relatable and easy to connect with, and your projects have inspired us to do some handywork on our own too. We also relate to not “outing” ourselves in public unless we feel safe.. thank you for sharing that real reality our community deals with. You both make a great team together, and we know you’ll make great mothers no doubt about it!! Thank you for being super real and bringing up things about your family life, relationship, and about “fighting better”. I study relationships (school) and have 2 great book recommendations that just came out a few months ago if you’d like to learn more about Attachment styles (childhood impacts emotional development and communication and conflict skills as an adult) and how to fight more productively/healthily. These are life changing books for better communication and strengthening relationships: 1) Secure Love by Julie Menanno (Marriage and Family therapist) and 2) Fight Right: How Successful Couples Turn Conflict Into Connection by Julie Schwartz Gottman, PhD, and John Gottman, PhD (renowned Couples therapist and researchers). You two are incredable. First come back to Squamish for the meet and greet-you've been here before because I saw your van and that's how my wife and I started watching your channel. Second don't let perfection stop construction of a project. Or words to that effect. Also, First Nations don't consider imperfections as flaws, they're "Spirit Marks". If either one of you looks at the other and thinks, " What a strong, muscular person, she is." It's nothing to what females can do with their bodies when they're pregnant. My first wife turned into a superhuman from being a very non-athletic person. Expect that, it's fantastical. I do worry about people going anywhere in the States nowadays, unless you were a cis-straight couple. I remember when I was in my teen and 20's and no passport was required and it felt welcoming and safe down there. I'm glad you were safe and felt so in Florida. Cheers from the Pacific West Coast of Canada.

I love the insight to your lives and what makes you, you! This is the first time I heard that Jaz went to school to be a teacher… as a young teacher who isn’t finding the most joy, I have always found content like yours to be an escape or maybe even a window into a way I could live one day. Thank you for doing what you guys do. You are so much more to me than content creators. You are truly role models, medicine, and joy!❤️

You two are inspirational. You have made yourselves vulnerable in what you share. I am a 70 year old female with a traditional marriage of 45 years. I feel like the future is hopeful with young people like you who reflect what is good in humanity.I started with your channel when you lived in a van and traveled in Mexico. The things that you have been able to do and build is amazing. Thank you.

I am so pleased to hear your future plans for the cabin, after all the hard work you both have put into. It saddens me knowing that it is obvious you love each other, and you can't show your feelings in public everywhere you go. Love should be freely given to nice people. That is why I always say, love from Mike ❤❤

Just an idea. When building the second cabin, you should have other youtube friends come in and do a room. All of it! They make the furniture, decorate, etc. Then you call it their room. Would be great content for both channels.

This was - in my opinion - the best video you have ever made. It put so many things in the right perspective - at least on how i have experienced the two of you for a number of years - and not meant in a negative way at all. Really great ladies!! Also a couple of surprises - one of those being that I always had a thought of - if you were going to have children (the "natural" way) it would be Crystal that would be the one, but seeing this video it all came together. I think you have done so well - keep it up ladies. Love you!!

This was so awesome how you shared so much of your being and your way. Esbecially when Crystal talked about her big sister! I was a bbbs coordinator in Germany until the program was ended (not a nice story). I always felt that this program really can do so much, for both the kid and the adult. So happy that you got such a nice big sister! And what you told about growing together in the relationship, also touched me a lot. Everyone who can say, we both grow together and our relationship grows as well, can be so thankful and happy. All the best to you both!
