Hi! My name’s Conner, I’m the dev for this game! I really really appreciate you giving this a play! You and Sean are 2 of my absolute favorite KZfaqrs, and I’ve been binging your guys’ stuff while I develop these games! Idk how no one caught the slip up at 38:51 and whether it is intentional or not, it definitely foreshadowed what was to come with, "the laundry room is to my immediate right, behind me is the kitchen." It is so eerie how it goes from second to first person so fast and I feel like it really shows what Michael is thinking.

I find the premise of this game fascinating. A game where you type things into a computer and an invisible person interacts with the world around you due to your computer interactions is pretty cool. However, like others here, I'm pretty confused by the ending. Who was the person hanging? Is it you, is it your friend? Wy did he have a big hole in his torso? That's not an axe wound. What is the meaning of the statement "You think to yourself...We Never Left." ? I'm not really clear what's being implied there.
@fartmagus2 жыл бұрын
Oh! i love the possibilities and you make a good point. was he doing it for himself or a friend of his past that he "needed to get rid of" cause everyone in his past needed to pay and he needed to move on? hmm🤔🤩

Jonah Scott! Man this was awesome! He is such a great voice actor, he really sells the part of Michael losing his mind and becoming a serial killer. aaa this was great! so, theory time, i have a few different ideas, one being that maybe he really didn't leave, he started killing and collecting bodies, and once he had enough he laid it all out and chained himself up in front of the game, the hole is less of a literal thing and more metaphorical that he was never able to truly fix the emptiness, or the feeling that something's missing. Then the aspect of us being his friend and going through it all was simply the friend finding his body and exploring the house. a more obscure theory could be that his friend died and he went mad, thinking that they were still alive. He played his own game pretending it was his friend, with the end result being to end his life. another possibility is that none of it happened and he was completley and totally delusional. A lot of people seem confused abt the hole, but i think it's more metaphorical than anything. it's possible he aquired a weapont that could create the hole, but it doesnt seem like it was a typical wound. i think it could potentially be a bunch of this mashed together, maybe his friend did die and he was delusional, thinking he was the friend, and that he had to chain the 'friend' up, to make sure they never leave, when in reality it was himself? again with the hole being a metaphor for the emptiness he never cured. the missing part he never found.
@Steve-fh4qu2 жыл бұрын
yes it's nice to put this metaphor in, IF that's what it was but to force it that it makes the narrative not make sense is a mistake.

I am curious. Does anything happen if you type "Kill Yourself" or "Use axe on yourself" into Michael's game? Also, I find it funny that every time our character gets up from the PC, Michael is probably like "Oh crap! He's getting up. Need to hide somewhere!"
@anachibi2 жыл бұрын
That was cool! I would've liked just a bit more backstory to really solidify the "we never left" sentiment, like this was where they lived or visited as kids, maybe some memories of them making up games here.
@SapphireDragon3572 жыл бұрын
Yeah that seemed really out of nowhere as a final line.
@vivil80052 жыл бұрын
I think it's a reference to the fact they used to make/draft choose your own adventure games together as kids. And those games were never 'finished' until the murder in-game ('finish the game' was the note on the door michael left). So the two of them never 'left' that time. And looking from michael's point of view, he's right. The protag played the game right all the way up to the end. Even though he could have made many different choices along the way, the protag decided to follow the path michael set out. A game can't be played without a gamer to play it, and a text adventure can't type in its own commands. It was a confirmation of Michael's thoughts and feelings -the protag is special, and would understand this was all art. It wasn't just the protag's murder Michael was excited about, but the fact that finally, someone validated him and his ideas. We don't get detailed information on what the protag is thinking of all this, but the fact he continues through the game does suggest a curiosity/fascination with what Michael's trying to do. Fear obviously comes in when he comes across the dead bodies, but instead of... most anything resembling a typical fear response, the protag pushes through. Two possibilities: "if I follow through with what Michael's asking me to do, he'll spare me" (make friends fear response) or "this is terrifying but...I want to know if I play through the end, will Michael kill me or not?" The latter being interested in the true feeling of horror. I'm not really interested in getting a definite answer on this-the horror lying in that ambiguity is what makes this game memorable and interesting.
@anachibi2 жыл бұрын
@@vivil8005 Yeah, I get that. I would've just liked a little more detail than "oh yeah we used to make games together" like an anecdote or something idk. Just to really tie it together better.

This was such a psychological thriller, and such a good one for being so short. Interesting that he chose his cousin who initially didn't like his work (maybe the first person who didn't like his work?) to be his ultimate victim. And so many bodies, yikes. I kind of wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt at first like maybe he does just want to write horror games and the 80s logic is against it, but no no. No, he's crazy. They're always crazy lol. Hearing him walk around in the background was tense, especially at the end. Great job to the developers.
