We own the biggest chicken breed and the smallest chicken breed here on our family farm. The worlds largest chicken breed is the Brahma chicken and the worlds smallest chicken breed is the Serama bantam chicken. Both of these roosters and chicken breeds are super sweet and very docile. We own the light brahma, and he is a gentle giant. The braham hens lay a good amount of eggs and are not very broody, and are one of the friendliest chickens around. The serama hen is not a great layer, but the serama rooster is known for his impressive strut and dance he does for the ladies. But we love both of these chicken breeds, & so if you're looking for a great heritage breed chicken, that is lots of fun to raise, and is friendly around kids, definitely check out the light brahma or dark brahma or the serama bantam chicken breed.

To clear up some confusion on record the worlds largest rooster is a light Brahma, & the biggest breed as of now is the jersey giant, but this new strain of Brahma, most think have already or will overtake that spot 😊👍

"We don't keep any mean animals here"......words to live by. What a great life. Love you guys.....don't forget to love on the "guard dogs" for me. Where do they sleep? Do they have a place to call their own? You can tell I'm a dog lover but all animals deserve our love and respect. Agree with Jason, Hosta plants are my fav too....planted 25 of them in front of my porch. Had purple flowers this summer. God bless Cog Hill Family Farm.

When I saw the black chicken head under the coop at the beginning of the video, it reminded me when my 8 new layers were laying under the coop instead of in the boxes. I scooped over a hundred eggs out from under the coop and then promptly sealed off the bottom with hardware cloth. I couldn't believe how cramped it was under there and how it was even possible to lay their eggs. Crazy chickens!

May The Father of all Creation continue to bless and protect our Cog Hill Family. We've learned so much from you and even more from MC. We've started breeding our Egyptian Fayoumi rooster with our Aracauna hens. Our goal is to keep the egg color while increasing foraging instincts. Just in case the cost of feed should go up. Our little farmstead wouldn't be where it is today without The Cog Hill Farm with the family charm.

Love all the flowers. One warning about Creeping Jenny. It is extremely invasive. I did not plant it on my property in Kentucky but one of my neighbors must of and being downhill from everyone the rain water must of picked up the seeds and I had it popping up all over the place in my lawn. Impossible to pull out and had to spray to get rid of it but it kept returning every year. I had a large Monarch Waystation and I did not want it in there with the native wild flowers as it does not come from this country.

M.C. is my chicken hero/guru. I have always had a fear of birds especially roosters and geese. Well, a year ago the neighbor's rooster decided to adopt me. He was being attacked by their ducks. He was also well know to attack people. I reluctantly took care of him terrified every moment. He is very small for his breed, feathers not growing, red legs, half toe missing, back toenails not growing, and a horrible crow. Fast forward: today he comes by name (Ty), I can hand feed him, he sleeps in a crate in the house at night, he gets baths, and he still comes after me when out free ranging (think it's more of a game) especially when I'm leaving property. I have fallen in love with my crazy boy. I get it now why M.C. loves her birds so much. I aspire to care for my guy a tenth of what she does. Those new creole birds look amazing. Thank you for sharing your passion and knowledge.
