Hey Wheezy. Seriously I want to improve my diet. It must not be going well because though I changed what I eat or how much I eat I am still overweight to the point I might be obese. Tell me what I'm doing wrong: 1. I recently changed my coffee-drinking. I either planned on doing with only sugar or with only milk. Not the way I used to do which was both. Which way can be better? (I don't like black coffee but I enjoy the taste of coffee. I just can't handle it straight). 2. I have been cooking and eating more veggies. I guess it matters which ones I choose and also if they are chopped and cooked by me versus something processed before I get it to my house. 3. I have reduced milk/dairy intake. Though that one is kind of hard for me. I admit I haven't been doing that one well lately. 4. Exercise. I have been pushing myself to walk more. Sometimes I walk home from work versus doing it any other way. I probably need to pick up the pace right? Please give me advice and any insight! Thank you in advance whether you do or not.

It's hard to explain the exact feeling, but after awhile you just feel...clean. When you start putting much better stuff into your body it changes everything to the point you can actually feel the way bad food affects your body. It's still ok to splurge once in awhile, but overall it leads to a much healthier lifestyle when you cut out as much sugar as possible. It's a bit sad in a way, but I'm at a point now that I don't even enjoy Girl Scout cookies(used to look forward to them every year) anymore because I can taste the sugar in it now and it just ruins it.

I went to Europe the first time in my life back in the mid 80s. at that time most foods had way less sugar then the U.S. I came back a few years later and could taste a difference. Now days the Europeans have as much added sugar as us here in America. I think it's to kill us off after we can't work anymore.

@Lady_de_Lis
@Lady_de_Lis 3 жыл бұрын
@@christopherpape4823 Well, I didn't do it for health reasons, personally. I did it for addiction reasons. I am extremely addicted to sugar and used to be unable to control myself when any sweet treats were close by. So, as far as the goal of getting rid of my cravings and regaining control of myself is concerned, going completely sugar free has worked wonders for me! :D I really like not being ruled by my cravings anymore. As far as health, I did lose a decent amount of weight initially, roughly 15 pounds, though the weight loss stabilized after a few months. I do feel better over all, but it's hard to say if that is exclusively due to me going sugar free, because I have been making other changes to my eating habits and exercise routine as well. Though, studies do show that a lot of sugar consumption can lead to very bad health outcomes over time, like heart disease. But the occasional sweet treat doesn't seem to cause people too much problem as far as I have read. It seems to be more about the amount and frequency which determines how it will affect your health. Based on what I've read, having 50g or less added sugar each day seems to be the highest amount for maintaining good health. Personally, I would really only recommend going completely sugar free if you've got a serious addiction which makes you unable to stop yourself from binging on sugary foods/drinks (like I used to). If you're the kind of person who can easily limit yourself to the occasional sugary treat with no problem, you should be fine. I think of it like alcoholism. Most people have no problem occasionally having a few drinks without going overboard. But it's not a good idea for a recovering alcoholic to even have one drink, or they might relapse. If not relapse, then instead suffer from intense cravings for a few days or weeks afterwards, which is pretty miserable.

Keep your liver healthy and your life expectancy will be formidable.

Salt companies fund studies against fat and sugar, sugar does it against fat and salt, etc etc. Added salt is bad for you, sugar without dietary fiber is bad for you because it doesn't fill you up, and trans fats are bad for you. Look up Dr. Attia for anyone who doubts this. He does a three hour deep dive into the $230 MILLION dollar government study that proved a high carb diet gives Americans diabetes and even higher cancer rates, and they teamed up with these corporations to push high carb on us anyway. Now it's gone on for forty years, and people who claim to be going 'low carb' are typically still eating more carbohydrates than their natural insulin levels can keep up with. You've got to be on what society considers to be a weird diet to be strong and fit now.

Just saw this! I reduced my sugar intake by 50 to 75%. (I have fatty liver disease and it was making me uncomfortable). I dropped about 6lbs in a little over a week! Shows how sugar I ate. Feeling much better now. Will keep a low sugar diet from now on. I appreciate the humor in this video and I can definitely relate.

actually it shows how much water retention you had. nobody is gaining six pounds a week just from sugar so the opposite doesn’t happen either. sugar = carbs = water retention = water weight

Diabetic for 17 years here….please cut out carbs all together. You’re liver disease is caused by sugar turning to fat around your liver. Get rid of it. Ketogenic and fasting has helped me and my blood glucose still goes up from glycogen in fat cells. There is no such thing as essential carbohydrates. Your body fabricates it from your fat cells so use it up. I only eat 20 net grams of carbs a day and am doing fine.

Most effective way to lose weight is to manage your calories. Most effective way to really being healthier is to reduce your sugar consumption(as well as not smoking and not being a heavy drinker and just half an hour light exercise every day) I am doing good with most these things and I can honestly say I'm one of the healthiest people I know.

I just quit a month ago. Within two weeks I no longer thought about having a soda, chocolate, or anything sweet. Never went through withdrawals. Can't say that I feel any healthier, I've always been healthy. What I can say is that I lost my belly fat and love handles so quick and am saving all the money I spent on sweets. I'm not a total, I can't eat anything with sugar. I have found delicious bread with no or 1 gram of sugar per slice. My drink of choice is water with lemon juice. My biggest benefit is greatly reducing my chance of getting diabetes. I wish I had quit years ago.

You are hilarious! And then you had the scene with your parents which explains where you get your sense of humor from... their delivery was so excellent! Hahahaha! New subscriber gained. :) I've been off sugar for 5 weeks and have experienced basically everything you mentioned. Lost 12 lbs, had some cravings but not as bad as I predicted, feel full most of the time, things taste sweeter, it's inconvenient to try to eat at restaurants or with others who aren't on the no sugar train, gotta grocery shop more often and plan ahead, and I actually don't feel any more energetic. In fact I felt pretty wrecked for the first 3 weeks. I miss chocolate and Trader Joe's Cookie Butter ice cream the most, but I'm not ready to go back to eating sugar yet. Never saw that coming when I was eating like 1000 calories a day of sugar / junk.

In my opinion, the best thing about living without added sugar is that everything that is healthy tastes much better and sweeter. Sometimes even an apple is almost too sweet for me. The only problem is that you can relapse very quickly even after months without added sugar. At least for me it always remains a small challenge to avoid sugar.

If you watch some or a lot of the Chinese recipe you will find that there is sugar by itself or in other forms such as hoisin sauce and salt; salt in various forms like soy sauce, oyster sauce. The combination of salt and sugar gives that "umame", the '5th" taste. Sugar is lodged in for the next 90 days in your hemoglobin. I was told at Stanford that A1C number is the average sugar in your hemoglobin for 90 days; the hemoglobin has 120 days of life.

I love watching your videos, especially the challenge ones and you asking why people like certain things. When it comes to sugar, it's both one of my favourite things and a bane of my existence. I don't know if I could go cold turkey with giving up added sugar, but, like you said, a person doesn't have to go all in. It's about making changes, and when it comes to making changes, a person has to make ones that they'll stick to. I'm going to start by giving up all pop, as that's my biggest thing, and eating more fresh or frozen fruit, not canned so much. Then we shall see from there. Thanks for your videos - they're always interesting and highly entertaining. :)

I'm a short guy - 5'4-- I was 220 pounds back in July, -- today I'm at 173 pounds. No cookies, no candies, no chocolates, no sweet drinks - no Coke- no Pepsi - not even juice drinks. The only sugar I get is from regular and normal food. I'd reduced carbohydrates and start eating some salads. My jean waist size was 38 - today I'm wearing my old jeans size 32. It's nice.

Yeah, takes a couple months to shake the addiction. Stopping sugar has meant lower inflammation in every part of the body. It has ended my headaches and reduced migraines to practically none. Healthier gut biome means heathier neurotransmitter balance meaning fewer moods (everyone around me is very grateful, LOL!). I have more steady energy, less irritability, less brain fog, fewer skin issues, better digestion, more focus... It does take more planning to have food with me at all times so I don't have to stop for foodlike substances beside the road, but definitely it has been worth the effort in my case once I got past the withdrawal. My body's reaction to sugar at this point tells us it's (to borrow a phrase) a helluva drug. Read Sugar Blues if you want to see how this will reduce your medical costs and misery too. Sugar wrecks every system in the body over time. I feel so much better without it.

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in April 2018. I quit processed foods as much as possible and learned how to cut carbs and fats. No sodas, no cakes and cookies etc. I strictly watch everything I put in my mouth. Sodium was cut out as close to completely as possible. Cooking takes time now and it tastes so much better. I lost 20lbs without doing a thing. Yes there was a withdrawal period. Then...I started hitting the gym. Let me put it in perspective. I could barely get off my couch. I had joint problems. I could barely walk around the block or up and down the stairs without being winded. I was sure I'd never run or dance again. After 6 months...my husband and I both have lost 50lbs. I can run. I can dance. I went from a size XXL: to a S. I have muscles! Beautiful muscles that eat up more fat and give me more energy. My blood pressure went from the 200s to 120s. (how was i even still alive). I dont need diabetes meds. It's an incredible change and it all started with getting rid of sugars and sodium. No cravings. No lethargy. Just a great life full of adventure now. Everything this video said was totally true. Do it. Give yourself this gift of life because its ultimately worth it. Start slow.

*Jonnyskia I too made permanent life changes about 18 months ago, I was diagnosed type 2 diabetes 7 years ago and was in denial for 5.5 years, last month my doc took me off metformin (diabetes med) because all my blood results were in the green after losing about 40kg and gone down 4 pants sizes, my BP is in the 120's, I'm within 7kg of my goal weight, the BMI scale is BS because it doesn't take into account heavy builds and heavy bones like me, apparently I'll always be overweight but I'll feel great and don't take any notice of BMI, the big changes I've made are diet and exercise, it's taken me over a year to be able to swim 80 pool lengths non stop and each day I climb about 20 floors, I eat my main meal at 10am and have a very light snack at night which is often salad or veg, I still allow myself a treat once a week but get right back on track for the remaining 6 days, well done with your new journey and keep up the good work, Kia Kaha from Aotearoa

sugar is in much more things than one initially imagines. even tomato sauce for cooking has it, ketchup and other dressings have it, baked goods have it, bread has a load of it, store bought juices have it and the list goes on. Instead of adding acid neutralizing sugar to red sauce, your mom could add finely grated carrot. The naturally occurring sugar content provides the same effect, plus it adds bulk and nutrients. I also add finely grated zucchini, for a heartier more nutritious sauce.

My wife had an ulcer one year and had to switch most acidic things out of our meals. She is a magician in the kitchen and made red sauce using beets carrots and mushroom powder, along with seasonings of course. I was amazed. It’s identical if not better than your typical tomato marinara. To your point, food companies could do better but your right, they would rather make money and sugar is cheap.

I have been obese for the last 15 years. About 7 months ago, I stopped consuming Saturated fats, caffeinated sugary drinks, milk and bread. After about 45 days, I lost all my cravings. I stopped eating ALL the time, especially before bed. I now eat about 1/6th of the portion I was eating. I have no craving to snack and I rarely feel hungry, and I sleep better. My main foods are rice, tomatos, peppers, veggies, and sometimes with chicken and beef. I usually eat my rice medley with semi salty tortilla chips. I am currently losing about 5-10 lbs a month. I topped out at 375 lbs and I am now down to probably 280 lbs. I never considered the sugar factor to be the cause of the constant hunger. Makes sense, though.

kingofbudokai I’ve been on the paleo diet for longer than a year now, which means I cut out as many carbohydrates (with the exception of dietary fibers) as I possibly can. I also cut out grains and dairy. My meal options are fairly limited, but overall it’s not too hard once you get used to it. You do have to spend a tiny bit more money on organic foods, but then at least you’re not spending so much on bad food, right? Every time I cheat a little bit I feel like utter sh*t that day and the day after. It makes me think that eating bad food isn’t worth the terrible feeling, not to mention the guilt as well. I’m happy to believe that my life expectancy is greater now. When I began the diet, I didn’t even have any fat to lose; I just wanted to be healthier. But I at least feel like nothing is bogging me down in any way. I never feel like I lose sleep, and I also feel like I have more motivation to do things. My primary meal substance is leafy greens and nuts. The rest of my diet consists of fruits and meats. It’s great 👍 TL;DR: The paleo diet works for me, even though I never had weight to lose.

these are the easiest things that help the most: - no fizzy drinks sodas and so on - no candies - no sweet snacks - no energy bars - no flavored yogurt - no sweetened cereals - as little chocolate and ice cream as you can live with - cakes are for celebrations only Edit: also no sweet cocktails ;)

This is a great list. Basically just avoid things you know are “bad” for you or eat them in moderation. I also think that cutting down on soda with sparkling water is a great way to avoid unnecessary sugars if you have a soda craving.

I don’t consume anything on the list. Except Dr Pepper. Has always been the only sweet thing I crave. But I stopped drinking HFCS years ago & only drink pure cane sugar Dr Pepper. About 2-3 per week. Hopefully it’s okay. I’m just wondering when I should drink it. Before I eat? On an empty stomach? After I eat? Or hours apart from eating? Any advice?

@ValentinoMariotto
@ValentinoMariotto 2 жыл бұрын
@@interestingfactsonyoutube whatever suits your lifestyle.. you may have a physically intense job and need eggs and meats on most days. Or maybe natural yogurt and muesli will be better suited for you (or oats if you like that stuff). If you work in a office, then yogurt and fruit are great. Of course these aren't RULES. I think the only rule should be to avoid eating more than you can burn. And we're easily tricked into doing that, when we eat sweet stuff.

That is why a lot of Chinese restaurants use monosodium glutamate (MSG) or sugar and salt; these activate the craving you describe. Jenny, a friend and Chinese restaurant owner said to me; " always request not to put MSG in your food".
