The way you drift is you first need speed you then turn the wheel one way why’ll pulling the handbrake that kicks the back end of the car out sideways then you steer the wheels the other way why’ll giving moderate gas so you don’t over steer. The back wheels keep the car going why’ll the front wheels keep the car in the drift. This is why it’s hard to drift a front wheel drive car it’s actually impossible you need the drive wheels to be in the rear.

NOS isn’t actually flammable. It only burns under pressure and then it’s not really burning. It’s added to the mixture of fuel and air in the engine to act as as agent to increase compression in an engine. Outside of using it for automotive purposes it’s original used in dental practices for patients. It’s normally referred to as laughing gas because it’s effects on people makes them laugh.

Interesting fact about Japanese street racing culture: Back in the 80s, there was a club in Japan that pioneered the street racing movement in a country. They had really nice cars, and the police had pretty old cars back then, so cops didn't even try to chase them, that's true. Most of the members of this club were criminals or near-criminal people, since good cars are obviously expensive. Now here's a really cool thing about Japanese mentality - like everything in Japan, this club had its own rules, more like a samurai code. There were rules - do not involve ordinary people in racing, do not harm other racers, and so on, and one of the first rules was - never, in any situation, harm people on the streets. And as if that wasn't enough, in these rules was said that if any harm came to any ordinary people, the club would be closed. Now try immagine such club in any other country in the world, where most members are criminals, would they follow the rules? Well in Japan they actually do follow the rules. One day, somewhere in the mid-90s, one of the famous members of this club had an accident car crash during racing and accidentally hit a person on a street to death. The same week the club was disbanded and closed, and the club paid compensation to the relatives of the victim. No matter what, honor and rules are above all for the Japanese.

22:15 That's actually the opposite 😆 The rear wheels are the ones pushing the car to drift, which would spin 180 if it wasn't for the front wheels controlling the direction (and some very accurate throttle control). It's a fine balance between throttle and steering angle. That's why only rear wheel drive cars (and all wheel drive cars to some extent) can drift.
@eatsmylifeYT
@eatsmylifeYT Ай бұрын

@stespin

@@eatsmylifeYT Yes they can, but mainly just handbreak induced and not in a continuous sweeping motion.
@eatsmylifeYT
@eatsmylifeYT Ай бұрын
@@stespin Uhm, no. That's not what you said. You said "only rear wheel drive cars (and all all-wheel drive cars to some extent)." Anyone who needs to use the handbrake to initiate a drift needs to work on his technique. You've obviously never seen FF rally cars, have you? If you're a good enough driver, you can drift any car, whatever the configuration is: FF, FR, AWD. And yes, you can drift an FF car in a continuous, sweeping motion.
@stespin
@stespin Ай бұрын
@@eatsmylifeYT But that is an entirely different technique, that's not the drifting portrayed in this movie. Of course you can "slide" any car, you can do point-turns by pivoting on the inner front, you can powerslide to "lose" the back end by carrying enough speed, you can approach the corner with a pendulum to initiate the slide. What you can't do in a FF car is drift up the parking lot ramp like they do in that scene in the movie (in which he made that comment, which is why, in that context, I said what I said) because a FF car could not physically push the back-end out like a FR or a MR and achieve such a stable prolonged drift *in* *such* *a* *tight* *space* . You'd need a lot more angle. A FF car would either overspin and hit the back in the wall, or not spin at all and understeer all the way up.
@eatsmylifeYT
@eatsmylifeYT Ай бұрын
@@stespin That's still not what you said in your original comment. Anyway, yes, a very good driver can do all those things you said an FF car can't do. You're just too stubborn to open your mind to what I'm saying. Besides, I doubt if you can even drive so all this is pretty moot.

One of my favorite movies of all time. You can also watch a real life drift race right now on Saturday the 13th on Formula Drift, and it is just as more incredible than the ones in this. Han is definitely one of the top tier FF characters. I'm so glad you guys did this one!

the times where the rear wheels arent moving is when you pull the handbrake either to initiate a drift or try to swing wide to hit a certain bend in a corner possibly because you initiated too early and need to correct it. other than that the power comes from spinning the rear wheels which is what causes the smoke, more power and wheelspin more smoke. usually the wheels spin to the equivalent of 70-200 miles per hour depending on the car, gear and how fast the corner is. lifting of the throttle gives grip to the front but the rear wheels will still be spinning.

I'm not a huge fan of Tokyo Drift, but it does introduce my fave character, Han, as well as the actual drifting. Looking forward to a few of the future films in the series, (5 is my personal fave).

Hey guys so from here on out this franchise takes a very different turn. The next one after this is still pretty grounded in terms of storyline, racing etc. But after that you guys have to prepare yourself and go into every movie open minded because they do get very crazy & unpredictable lol. Have loved your guys reactions tho so far to the franchise its been fun!

I love this movie even when a lot of others trash it. There's 2 things to take away from this movie. 1. Han is the third most loved character in the franchise. 2. Twinky's theme song should be "All the Single Ladies" by Beyonce.

@theperfectmixx People don't really drift old muscle cars, but mid 00s Corvettes and new Mustangs are super popular in drifting. Tons of drivers in Pro Drift competitions drive them. BMW M3s and Nissan Zs/S15s are probably the other most common cars in the pro drift scene.
