The old Catholic thing to do is say what you should do and practice little. The basket that goes around Irish churches has mostly been furnished by coins and little gratitude for what the church gives to the community. I hope there is a revival of the Brendan option as well as a revival in the church. We all need a miracle lately.

We have to do better in supporting work like this! There seems to be a real sense of entitlement to high-quality religious content and I am sorry to hear that your very dignified appeals for financial support fell on deaf ears. Since I came into the faith a few years ago I have lost interest in all TV and most of the music I used to like. "The Brendan Option" has been my favourite thing to watch for the past while now. It's not good enough that Irish viewers are failing to show gratitude and support for content inspired by the Holy Spirit. The money should be rolling in! I tried to join your Patreon. It let me join but when I clicked upgrade membership, I got a blank page. I think not enough of us Americans have seen you yet. Let me give you my American perspective. Many of us are looking within and outside our country for inspiration. Within the Irish we have a perception in days past strong Irish men like yourself. Pious ladies and their devotion to the Rosary. I used to join a live Rosary group online led by Joe Nicosia before he passed. It was one of the things that gave me peace and reduced my stress for this hectic place I live. I could easily see you growing an American audience and getting the support to go on. God knows we need men like yourself. We just have to find you first.

I'm with you all the way Father. Making my way through the earlier podcast episodes and I've never felt more juiced to be Catholic.

Father I really feel that having a Bible study in every parish would be powerful. People that gather in fellowship to learn about scripture and the catechism forms local saints. Jesus invested on a personal level with his disciples. This is what equipped them. They knew that love in Fellowship. Yes sit in front of your computer as a bonus but I really feel that the more personal approach changes lives in a powerful way Sometimes we ( including myself) listen to all these rich Catholic teachings online from yourself and America, indeed brilliant as they are, as a replacement for our prayer life It's just a thought. I bet many would come as you've got a lot of knowledge to pass on. It was Bible study that transformed my life. God bless you. God is doing a new thing, that's all.

Very sorry to hear this news, Fr Brendan. I think your commentary is excellent, as well as your aims for Irish Catholicism. Isn't it a pity that many of the successful KZfaq channels you cited are mainly Pope Francis naysayers. So Catholics on KZfaq need your balance and insight. I honestly think you have something special to give, but that the single talking head format is not enough to get you the traction you could achieve. You could really do with getting yourself interviewed on some of the big channels (Matt Fradd's for example) which would then pull a lot of visitors to your channel. Then you need to adjust your format to a combination of the kind of thing you do now (one man commentary), long-format interview/conversation pieces (whether in person or via 'zoom') and maybe even group discussions (groups of young Irish Catholics perhaps), plus catechetical pieces. A lot of us suffer from the poor catechesis of the post Vatican II era, and I believe there is a massive need for basic to advanced catechesis among both Irish and UK Catholics. You'd be a brilliant man to do it. We are the Church that Jesus Christ founded and built on the rock of Peter and the Apostles, and Catholics need to know that in their bones. There is also a need for adults in the room to guide us through these very tricky times in the Church and the world. Again, you would be a great man for that task. You have a gift, Father, and one man with your gift - plus a heap of prayer - can achieve great things. I know you will say, 'but where could I find the time and the money?' I totally understand. Perhaps your Bishop needs to release you to do this (starting part-time maybe) and some large Catholic donor/business needs to be approached. The money is out there, of that you can be sure. Perhaps it is time to get more serious about this apostolate, rather than pull in your horns. God bless you, Father.

I don't have much time for production and editing, but there is a market for Catholic bloggers in Ireland and it has to Challenge Catholicism. My suggestion don't aim for perfection, aim for progress. Gods Cottage does this and it works.

Fr Brendan,I am unable to find a link where I can contribute some funds towards your programme .I think that Catholics should be unashamed in asking for funds.I see Catholic Churches struggling to keep the heat on because of lack of funds from dwindled congregations.For some reason unknown to me they fail to take Offertory collections for Weddings and Funerals.
