This book for me was the height of Stephanie Meyer being deep without realizing it. The writing isn’t amazing but it’s a decent portrayal of how victims of abuse can become swept up in criminal activities they don’t want to be doing and the relationships that form from shared trauma. I’m interested by how many people are frustrated that Bree wouldn’t just bail on Diego and save herself and if they’d feel similarly if it was him abandoning her rather than holding onto hope.
@shareetz3154

@MistyWarden
@MistyWarden 11 ай бұрын
@@shareetz3154 quite a few of the frustrating details that Amanda mentioned are also reflected in that dynamic, especially the lies that the abuser tells that seem obviously fake to us on the outside but are paralyzingly terrifying to the victim and prevent them from seeking help. I honestly loved Fred. He seemed like such a cool dude. I was honestly hoping that Edward or Alice would have found Fred in Breaking Dawn, and would have formed a friendship, or at least an understanding with each other. Like Fred saying, “I understand she’s dead, but thanks for trying to save her”. And Edward saying, “Her last thoughts were of you. She never understood friendship before she knew you.” And then they leave on good terms. But that was just wish fulfillment. I still would have liked to have read it though.

I read this one a couple times and I actually kind of liked the idea of Bree (although when she chooses Diego over Fred I was also like WHY you've been friends for like one day while this guy has been watching your back for months!) I feel like Meyer does a really good job of introducing characters that have interesting back stories or potential and then drops the ball on them completely; like how in the main series literally almost every side character is more interesting than her leads. I would have loved to see a Bree spinoff and some more development of her, Fred and even Diego before their change and see her and Fred kicking it in Canada.

I loved the novella, because Bree was honestly a more interesting protagonist. I felt like she had a bit more humor then Bella, and the tragic way her first life ended reminded me of that time when I didn't wanted to do a book review of any of the approved books from my school and decided to do a book review on the fashion show of my favorite goth shop which had a book written about it because it was a charity project for prostitutes. The hamburger scene reminds me of the mentally retarded girl who sold her body for toast. It's brutal.

I found the short second life of bree tanner and I ADORE her backstory. I loved the book so much back in the day and happily still have it! Bree Tanner was so interesting and I wish we could have gotten more on her life as a human.

Oh I learned about this story a couple months ago. I honestly enjoyed the aspect of them thinking they would burn like old school vampires. I do believe that Bree deserved better ❤️. Great video!!

You should check out the vampire books by Christopher Moore - I read them about a decade ago, so I'm not sure how they hold up in ay way, but they were a rollicking good time. Newborn vampires actually being interesting lol

Woooooooo!!! I recently went through a Twilight saga reread over ten years since reading it last time. The heartbreaking thing is that Bri’s story was actually really good. I wish we knew if Edward found Freaky Fred or not and just exploring the cult-like concept of new born covens. There’s room for it in the modern south right?

I genuinely liked this book the most of all the twighlight books XD (I read them all except I think there's a version from Edwards perspective? if that exists that's the one I didn't read XD

I saw your video I think it's just that your coverage of twighlight and Dominic nobles' of shades of grey blend together in my brain XD I think I preferred this story because what I liked best about the twilight books was always the vampire lore XD

I was honestly never aware of the deleted scene of Edward attacking Bella and I've loved the movies for so many years as it's a comfort series for me that helped me through some really tough times growing up. Now I gotta go find that scene 😂
