Welcome back y'all! Today I'll be showing you how I make one of my favorites breakfast dishes. I remember the very first time I had skillet potatoes, my husband made then for me years ago and it was THE BOMB! If you love potatoes, then you'll love these. Very simple and beginner friendly.
5 Russet Potatoes
1/4 Onion- sliced
Salt to taste
Pepper
onion powder (optional)
paprika
parsley
thyme
3 tbsp oil (or more as needed)
2 tbsp unsalted butter (or more as needed)
3 tbsp Water
Season to your taste, I showed how to in the video. It's very easy, no measurements needed.

Whenever we have new potatoes for dinner I set some aside with a knob of butter and let them cool overnight in the fridge. Slicing and frying them with onions in the morning and serving with a fried egg is the best breakfast. I learned this when working in Germany where it's called Bratkartoffeln. Nice to see this variation.

Hi Robert Hoffman. In tough times also did this to extend a meal and make it special. Also added scrambled eggs on tomato chutney for sandwich for school for my kids. I'm now 71yr.but my children still talk of good old days not knowing how we stretched our money. Lots of love from South Africa

My father used to use a recipe much like this, with the technique being identical. I don't recall that he used onions, but from memory, I think the spices were the same. I loved the texture of the potatoes. Some had crispy edges, and there was a creamy softness to the inner potato slice. I'm anxious to try it. Thank you.

You can make it for breakfast you just have to get up a little earlier or have everything already ready the night before just make sure you put your potatoes in water the little lemon juice keeps them from turning brown or you can cook them tonight before put them in ice box heat them up in the morning

I stopped eating wheat, so no bread, no pasta. Don't know if it's a gluten sensitivity or one of the other proteins in the wheat. Anyway, I eat these a couple of times a week and I've been losing weight. Cut back a little bit on the oil and double or triple the onion. Watch how much salt you add as that can make you hold fluid.

Looks awesome! If you cook the onions first, carmelizing them before adding potatoes, the potatoes come out super sweet and more flavorful. I also add water earlier and leave the skin on the potatoes. The skin is where all the vitamins are 😉

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. My favorite! After years of making these pretty much the same way you do, I stumbled upon the idea of pre-baking the potatoes first. It gives the added flavor of baked potato plus saves cooking time and they’re less likely to burn. I’ve heard this is the diner method-a great way to use leftover baked potatoes from the previous night’s dinner service.

You need to add butter on a nonstick pan then add the onions and wait it it gets caramelized and golden brown. Then add more butter and put the potatoes. After it cooked put the onions and all the spices together then serve hot and fresh 😊
