In this video We're in Trouble Our Boat might have BRAVO-ITIS! A BOATING SEA TRIAL I Will NEVER FORGET! This sea trial was the one and only sea trial that my boat has ever had that was the one I will never forget. It was full of hesitation, bumpy, and all alarms going off. It was a crazy ride, I did not think I was going to arrive to the marina at one point. See what Bravo-itis is, and how to know if your boat has it. This is the outcome of using BAD Boat Mechanics, I will never trust any boat mechanic again. Bravo-Itis on the other hand is when the intake of sea water is restricted by saltwater corrosion at the Bellhousing on the transom, causing the the engine to overheat on higher rpm's. (Usually on Bravo 3 Outdrives). Thanks for watching! Peace from the Keys!

I had bravoitis. Key symptoms: overheat at higher rpm’s, low water pressure, lack of overheat when hooked to the hose (I have a flush installed after the transom). We solved by installing a thru-hull intake and abandoning the outdrive supply. I did all the same things to try to fix: raw water pump, thermostat, circulating pump. I didn’t have a display for most of my time diagnosing bc my smartcraft gauge LCD was roached. Water pressure was key to diagnosing and demonstrates the value of diagnostic tools and displays.

Hi John, wow thanks so much for sharing your experience. I was thinking the exact same thing, to install a thru hull water connection, strainer, seacock, and eliminate the intake from the outdrive. Wow, thanks Brother! Peace from the Keys!

Sitting steady at 175 it's not overheating. I'd set the alarm for around 200. The engine shuddering is a unrelated issue. I'd look at a coil overheating. (or fuel problem)

My 98 ,with the same setup as your's , runs at 175 to178 and the water temp is 70-73 degrees F. You have something else going on . Have a mechanic put a fuel pressure gauge and see if the fuel pressure regulator is stuck and giving you excess fuel pressure causing the alarm .

@@KeysBoatingChannel looking forward to see the harness vid. Question: Have you ever had white smoke at start up? If so what causes that? I listened to another KZfaqr and he says it’s “un-burnt” fuel. Any suggestions would be great…. Rock on man

@@COBALTGRUV Hi Brother! Thanks! I'm not a mechanic, but white smoke could mean burning oil through bad head gasket, worn valve seats, and worse of all cracked cylinder head. If its light smoke your head gasket may be going bad. Again I'm not a mechanic, just a been there done that...lol. Hope this helps. Peace from the Keys!

Watching this and I'm pretty sure that's not a problem with overheating. Not sure what yours is but on my 2855 I sit pretty right where you are. Also if it was overheating it shouldn't cut out like that until it was really bad. It sounds a bit like fuel starvation but at the same time looking at the dial I'd lean more towards electrics as that needle is going crazy. That alarm sounds for many things and it's just a matter of elimination but great if you can scan engine as should direct you straight to the problem. I'm not sure what the bad guy 'fixed' but if it was me, and the boat was fine before, I'd be working through the job he done and making sure every wire was connected properly and every hose correctly. I had a cowboy work on mine when I first got it and charged me £2,300 for a £400 job. And like you, it wasn't just the bad workmanship it was the problems he left behind that I had to deal with. You have my sympathy mate, and if it helps I've a feeling it's going to be something simple. Will keep an eye out for outcome. Peace from London UK

Thank you so much for watching and your comment. Thanks for your input and experience, It will help me pinpoint the problem. I'm also thinking fuel, maybe injectors, but some times looks like electrical. It's crazy, but this Monday they are coming to put the computer to see what codes come up. Hopefully by then we should have the bottom line. Again thank you for your support Brother! Have a great weekend! Peace from the Keys!

How disappointing after all the work and time you have spent chasing down the cooling issue. Hoping it might be something less costly than the Bravo-its you are suspecting. The previous owner of our boat (2013 315 Bayliner) had to replace both B-III's and the mounting plates. Very costly plus the engines needed to be R and R'd to complete the job. Good luck.
@KeysBoatingChannel
@KeysBoatingChannel 10 ай бұрын
Hi Michael, Yes, that's what I'm worried about. Hopefully it won't be the BravoItis, and if it is there's a BravoItis repair kit that can restore the water flow, if it's not too corroded. Hopefully it will be simple. Thanks for watching and your support! Peace from the Keys!

I have same boat, same year. That alarm sounds for various things, but I had the same situation 2 years ago. Stalling and all. It ended up being #6 cylinder wall cracked. Hopefully yours is just fuel related...it act as though the fuel pump is faulty or a fuel filter is clogged or bad batch of gas. I've had bad gas cause my boat to run crappy also. Hopefully its something simple.

Nice new boat man! Question, do you know about the shift cable linkage on the bayliner Ciera? Mine is really tough to shift…any help would be great! 👍🏻 did you ever have to replace yours?
@KeysBoatingChannel
@KeysBoatingChannel Ай бұрын
Hi, welcome back...Thanks! On my 2004 Bayliner 285 never had to replace the shift cables, but was getting ready to replace it soon, as it was 20 years old. I was going to spray WD40 into the shifter lever casing to soften it up a little, but never got to do it. Also thought to take the shifter casing apart to re-grease the internal parts. Mine wasn't too tough to shift though. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching our video! Peace from the Keys!

So the buzzer uses ground that is ran through a separate water temp sensor and on some mercrusiers there is a oil temp and separate oil pressure sensor. Looking at your gauges bounce at the rpm is curious 🤔 the motor should not do that at 175 typically. It seems like you have a faulty oil safety sensor on that engine or the water temp sensor. They will disrupt ground to the ignition coil the protect the engine. Also lower unit oil Reservoir uses the same ground circuit that will cause motor to kill ignition. Brother I almost bet one of the sensors is your issue. The fact it is bouncing from stall to full to stall at the same time that that Sounder is chirping tells me there's an issue in that circuit it's electrical each engine has two water temp sensors one for the gauge and one for the safety buzzer and ignition kill you can test these using a multimeter if you can get to them easily Google your engines and you should be able to find the locations of each Thunder it will probably be a bear in your particular boat because the engines are down in an engine compartment hope that helps but I am pretty certain that's what is happening

Hi MChaves, yes I've thought about doing this too. The overheating seems like its ok now after the manifold replacement, but the engine stalling is still there.
