Excited for you. We left California for Prescott ( your new neighbor) 9 years ago after 60 yrs in California and have never looked back. Sometimes you need to take a leap of faith in this life.

We all have different loves, adventures and callings of the heart. At 65 I have lived in VT, NH, MA, CT, NC, FL, WI, NM, AZ, and Vegas. Also, Mexico and Scotland. I've also driven cross country several times alone with just my dog. I plan on one more move within the next 9 months. I'm experiencing people, places and adventures. I have family scattered about and it makes our conversations very interesting as to who is where and doing what. Renting is a good idea while you decide what neighborhood you want. I've done this with Airbnb monthly rentals to explore different areas. Safe travels to you both as you return to your ❤ place.

I totally understand the way you feel. We moved across country last year and no matter all the good things we have discovered in our new city, we do not feel right. It doesn't feel like home to us and hasn't clicked. We're in the process to move and so excited to start fresh again where we feel at home.

Very important decision! But you have to be where you feel you love and comfortable! My granddaughter, her husband, and two very young children moved from Oregon to Arizona, 4 months ago! I was so disappointed, as all their family is here. But my granddaughter hated the rain and gray, gloomy winters, (and me too!)! However, They have their own lives to live how they want to live. We do facetime , and my son, the grandfather, visits every 2 or 3 months. Her mother and stepfather just moved near them, so they will have immediate family there, which is great! My granddaughter and her husband love it there. We keep saying it’s going to get HOT there, but she says but we have the sun. Here in Oregon we NEVER see the sun in winter! Lol GOOD LUCK to you both and to your doggie on your new adventure and move! (Your sweet, handsome husband’s eyes got a little teary when you spoke of his mom! What a caring man you have!)

I lived in Phoenix for 14 years and moved back home to Missouri about 7 years ago. I too miss Phoenix a lot! I love the weather and miss it terribly. I can't lie, I'm a little jealous, but so happy for you!

How exciting to be moving to Arizona! I especially like the Sedona area, it is gorgeous! It was interesting to find out the you had been a flight attendant and also meet your husband. I think renting your house out in Charlotte and renting your new place in Arizona makes perfect sense. I love the architecture of the buildings in Arizona, even the grocery stores look more interesting.

Aww fun! We've lived in Phoenix for going on 12 years. It's a vortex and hard to leave. Prescott is a fun place. Great camping. And as silly as it sounds, my favorite Wal Mart. 😂

California has always been my home, I grew up on the warm beaches and love our Mediterranean weather. I don’t think anywhere else will ever feel like home to me, it’s good you’re moving where you feel home is. Phoenix is so nice, I do love to visit the beautiful South West. Nostalgic feelings for me. I am in the position of "mom"... watched my "baby" and his wife move cross country with the promise of seeing them/him a couple times a year flying back to report to his company in my area... Then covid happened and he changed jobs to one close to the new city. Travel has become more difficult with what's going on in the world now and with airlines problems... Now they have two little girls. I am so sad I never get to see them and the grandkids will grow up not knowing us. Our family was close in proximity when my kids were little so that is what feels "normal" for me. In your case, Mike's mom not even being here to visit at all... I hope you love the new life but don't forget to go back at least once a year to visit those you leave behind. People change and when you see them again you really notice that and feel the gap of what you missed in each other's lives in the meantime. They may be smile and be happy for you but it will be bittersweet for you and them in the end. Enjoy the desert life!! Love your channel. I have learned a lot about modern minimalist style from you!

I am nearly 60 and I have dreamed of something exciting to happen with our lives - don't get me wrong 3 adult children and 3 grandbabies are true blessings. My best friend moved to another state nearly 30 years ago. Each and every day I miss her and am very aware of all the birthdays, weddings (because of Covid), shopping trips, morning teas etc that we have missed. Having your bestest nearby is so important and nothing can really fill the hole, so I am very pleased for you that you will be back with your friend.
