*were and no, the guy was an idiot. When you're a professional being paid by companies to do a job you can't run around doing things that affect your ability to do that job like being penalized repeatedly, suspended, doing drugs, going to jail and expect to not be criticized for it. I can't do all that and keep my job.

What do you expect when you have a bad attitude and always partying. No team wants someone like that. J Law screwed himself.

It's crazy how society works we give assholes the okay as long as they're good at one thing in life. Yes he was fast but he also had a bad attitude, faught and was arrested but sure let's give him a pass. Not saying he needs to be in jail for life but being a professional athlete is a privilege not a right if you keep being an asshole and get yourself arrested you eventually lose that privilege end of story.

I am a huge fan of Jlaw but he was his own worst enemy. There is making a mistake, but there is doing it over and over and over which was frustrating for someone who couldn’t wait to see the guy line up just to see he wouldn’t/couldn’t. Actions have consequences. It’s a damn shame he couldn’t stop getting in trouble because his talent was truly incredible. I miss watching him ride.

My replies reflect on the Jason era that is the subject at hand. Maybe Jason is a different person now and if so I'm not one to judge. But if we're talking about JLaw in his prime....he blew it. Man I tell people that all the time. We are a product of our lives. We do what we do because of what we’ve experienced. I also agree that there needs to be personalities in the sport. That’s why I’m a big fan of Anderson. He doesn’t get crazy about all the stupid hype. He shows up and rides and goes home and takes care of his family.

We need more people like J law its what made moto cool. it was outlaw like how nascar was. Nowdays there trying to make it all mainstream like how nascar has become. Tired of seeing the cookie cutter mold that they try to turn people into. Take partying, and the attitude and personality away you take away part of what makes motocross fun and not boring. Look at GNCC people get down with the get down at GNCC races, Partying is a part of the GNCC lifestyle it just is.

Too many Knee Jerk Reactions from the organisation and sport journalists/commentators. Undeniably limited potential success of both the sport and JLaw long term. Seeing similar situation with Justin Barcia but obviously on a smaller scale. Justin was blamed instantly because of constantly pushed narratives and as a result was fined and ridiculed for the Ferrandis Tbone during MX season last year Justin even waited a few days to post his gopro footage showing no wrong doing just good racing and clearly proved how stupid and bias the reactions were.

Ryan V. And Ryan D. We're the epitome square good guys. Yes they ripped beyond belief. But AmA was scared of Jlaw. He did some wild shit. But both Ryan's wouldn't have been so dominant if Jlaw was there. The powers that be would rather have the guys on the podium thanking God. Instead thanking the girls at a bar. JLAW will always be that lost talent. He was the second coming of lechien.

I don't know is he was needed, as much as Jase would disagree. Theres the good vs bad guy which does bring attention. A personality is fine and you're seeing it. AP7 has embraced more of his personality, Jett has a personality, Anderson has a personality. Its a lot less sponsor reading than it was 6,7,8 years ago which I do like. But at the same time the sport does need a degree of professionalism. Its fun to go out and party like a Rockstar. But the sports elevated since J-Law even, the amount of fast guys is a lot more than use to be IMO. As for the party mentality find brands to support it, they're out there. But be real is it something you want to sponsor and your rider is hung over and getting 17th. Or worse your rider wraps their car around a pole at 2AM and dies or kills someone, great brand recognition. Will that happen? Maybe, maybe not. But is it going to happen with Dungey? Its all fun to party, but when your results suffer. Sure there be the one event where they partied to 2AM and get first. Know how many guys I've see in the Am pits at Dilla with their pro card at 1AM. They suck the next day. For the its fun to watch guys clean one other out. Its also great when you get the guys who idolize him as amateurs and you're at the local races getting your bike cleaned out for no good reason than a $25 trophy and now you need a new rim or subframe, handlebars, or whatever because they kid wants to ride like so and so... Also look how much has been complained this year. The tracks are too GNARLY all the riders are getting hurt. Yeah lets go with rubbing is racing and take outs make the sport fun to watch and have Kyle Chisolm win the 450 SX title.
