Governor Ron DeSantis signed the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Focus on Florida’s Future budget into law June 12, ensuring timely and essential services and support to Veterans, their families and survivors through the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs (FDVA). ‎ FDVA is ‎a ‎constitutionally chartered ‎department ‎responsible for serving the Nation’s ‎estimated second largest Veteran ‎‎population. ‎Operating as the premier point of entry for Florida’s more than 1.4 million Veterans, FDVA ‎‎operates a ‎‎network of State Veterans’ Homes and ‎provides statewide outreach to connect ‎‎Veterans ‎‎with earned services, benefits ‎and support. ‎ Included in the budget is an increase in the number of State Veterans’ Service Officers, reflecting the state’s large Veteran population and the addition and expansion of U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs health care facilities. The budget includes approval of a $10 million investment to begin the construction of Florida’s ninth State Veterans’ Nursing Home, in Collier County, upon federal grant approval. Once this new skilled nursing home is completed, Florida will have the most state-operated Veterans’ Nursing Homes in the Nation. To support Florida’s legacy Veterans’ Homes, the budget provides $4 million for maintenance and repairs necessary to provide Veterans’ Home residents a safe, compassionate state-of-the-art facility that meets their needs. The budget also continues a $2 million annual investment in Veterans Florida to assist separating and retiring Veterans in securing meaningful skills-based employment, providing employers a skilled talent pipeline, and assisting Veterans in creating and operating a small business. The budget also funds a dental grant program that will enable deserving qualified Florida Veterans to receive no-cost dental care to improve their general health, as the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs reports only 15 percent of enrolled Veterans nationwide are eligible for dental care.

If some of these veterans who are still in good health and of needed skills could continue as civilian trainers (for military), technical advisors, etc. so freeing up in service personnel to defend and protect... reminder folks the supposed offshore threat having war games in and around Cuba... could be more Russian disinformation... also a strong reserve guard to defend the State may prove useful... Civilian bunkers if not available should be built... Invite military's laser defense to install a few systems to target these hypersonic evasive missiles? God protect our troops and knock a little sense into short sighted leaders in the world that elevating your people makes for a brighter future for all while those who seek to enslave mankind will be loathed not revered.

He acts like its a good thing that Polk county has been chopped down. All the woods, all the orange groves. I feel sorry for kids growing up here now. We used to drive out to the middle of a grove and drink and party where it was pretty safe and secluded. Kids now in Polk are basically living in a police state. How can he go up there and swing it as a positive that the state, *MY STATE* where I was born and raised is now overrun with people from all over the country who dont care about this place at all. In ten years Florida will be blue thanks to this poorly thought out campaign bring rich people in. You think all these people are really conservatively minded people ?? Come on. They're here because its convenient for them right now. Ive seen it myself where people move to a neighborhood (my own neighborhood is filling up with them) and in short order theyre wanting to start HOA's and complaining about the yard of a guy whose been living there his entire life. Money isnt everything. Heritage, history, and generations of families are what matter. Desantis is turning my home into nothing more than another corporation.
