@@TheCoupleCrib I meant "copyright detection" by the person who posted the video you watched, not you guys. Looks like it didn't help you, either. But your honest, heartfelt reactions are what's important to us, 'cause most of us have this memorized. I saw this movie in the theater (the clip you watched is from "The Song Remains The Same"). My friends and I drove to a different city when we found it playing, and watched it at midnight. A spiritual experience, decades before you two were born. In the movie (a collection of songs from a 3 night set of MSG concerts), each musician had their own movie sequence behind a song. "Dazed and Confused" was Page's. It's him, behind the house he owned (previously owned by the occultist Aleister Crowley, reportedly haunted, possibly evil), discovering himself as The Hermit from Tarot cards. (Page has a sordid, "unusual" background, check his wikip page...) Anyway, your genuine pleasure in music and comedy is why we are here, not just to listen to tunes we already know. It's you two. You are heartwarming. Thanks.

Indeed. John is one of the most important figures in contemporary music history, whose talents had no need of hype. His resume beyond Zeppelin, both before and after is Top Shelf as well. It’s a body of work any recording/touring pro would be proud of…. and he’s got the gold and platinum on the walls to prove it. Respect

I've always contended that JPJ was the best musician in this band, Jimmy is an amazing guitarist, Bonham is the power drummer of all time, Plant is the premier rock vocalist, but JPJ is the best overall musician, bass, keyboard, guitar when needed just the best

68 years old I've had epic moments in life and being at this concert in 1973 at 17 is one of the greatest. The day of the show we just happened to be in NYC again from Wash., DC. Passing by MSG in a Taxi just at the start of the sold-out concert, we ran to the Box Office and secured 4 unretrieved Will Call tickets for $10 each! It was a miracle and one of the highest & most memorable experiences of my crazy teenage years! I am only realizing now that 4 late unfortunate Souls are probably still upset! Haha!!!

In the 80's we used to go by MSG all the time the day of the show and ask if there are any tickets left, usually there were tickets left after they finished building the stage and sold the seats behind or to the side of the stage. I saw so many artists that way, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, YES, Bruce Springsteen and many more for no more than $25

I will admit they have the harder and more impressive Job responding, without page/plant* it would be the run of the mill performance *plant's call and response

@rickjohnson3580
@rickjohnson3580 Ай бұрын
You will never listen to music the same now. Nothing compares to this. It is the greatest live performance ever captured on film. From the greatest band to ever grace the stage. Just one of many reasons how they set the bar so high. And continue to this day influence many musicians. The musical esp each have is something that is beyond humanly possible. Each member a master musician that were the best and in tune with their instruments. At such a high level they were all one with their instruments. Something that we haven't seen since. And probably never will. There was not just one standout musician. They were all equally talented. And each played a huge part in making Led Zeppelin original. Without any member there is no more chemistry, no magic. So when Bonzo passed. There was no continuing as a band. Saddest day in my life. I was 17 years old in 1979. I had missed the concert in 1977 it was sold out by the time I got out of school and went to buy tickets. So when the 1980 tour dates were released , I think in November of 1979.. I went out and reserved 2 front row seats. $100 each. The San Diego show was going to be in October. I remember putting a big circle around the day of the show on my calendar. Then I was counting the days until the concert. Then I remember celebrating my 18th birthday(September 5) listening to TSRTS album and getting so excited because it was only 42 days until the concert. Then 10 days later as I was driving to school I heard on the radio that Led Zeppelins drummer had died. There's no way it must be a mistake I told myself. At school it was the talk around campus. I still didn't believe it. When I got home from school I waited anxiously for the 5 o'clock news. And sure enough it was true. Now I'm thinking we'll they will get another drummer and will still tour. Sadly 2 or 3 days later it was formally announced that the band could no longer continue. Then it really hit me I would never get to see my favorite band. I had just lost my best friend who died in a tragic car accident a week after my birthday. Now this Bonzo is gone and the tour has all been cancelled. My whole world just crumbled. I locked myself away in my room with a 12 pack of malt liquor beer and a 1/4 oz of the finest weed. sitting in my bean bag chair. In the dark, with the black light on bringing my walks to life with the florescent Zeppelin posters. Then I put on the first album. Cranked up my hifi 4 speaker surround sound system . Did a couple of bong hits and cried and cried Bonzos drumming living live. I played every album .(I had them all obviously) In chronological order. I did that for 3 days I didn't go to school i couldn't stop playing the records over and over. For 3 days . I couldn't get over the depression, the emptiness the reality. Well I went to get my money back from my tickets. I seen my actual tickets first row center stage. I broke down. The cashier said you can have the tickets. I didn't want them. I didn't want any reminder of this horrible event that never happened.. I would go to every midnight showing of the movie TSRTS seeing it in a movie theater on the big screen in surround sound. The closest I could ever get to seeing them live. It was like you were in the front row of the concert. Something that still brings me to tears today. So I want to thank you for doing your LZ reactions seeing how the music moves you just like it did for me some,40 plus years ago. It brings a tear in my eye seeing how my favorite band blows this younger generation away. Just the same way it blew our minds on our first listen. Every song will take you somewhere in your mind . Being happy or sad .good or bad . Whatever your mood put on a Led Zeppelin album and all your problems and stress seem to fade away. That's why even to this day I need to get the Led out every morning . So much I can say . Bout there's only one word that says it all...GOAT.. You should do a live listening party reaction to the movie The Song Remains The Same. Where the chat room could donate to you guys through the movie. I'm sure you would be surprised on how many viewers you would have watching. Chatting,uniting and donating $ in appropriation and welcoming 2 new Led Heads to the family.

What a delight it is to see how this affected you both. I followed this band from 1969 onwards. To say they changed my life is not an exaggeration. I saw this film the day it came out in 1976. I drove 50 miles to see it. I saw Zeppelin play live four times. I literally travelled the world to pursue them. I ended up owning recordings of hundreds of their live shows. Watching you reminds me of how profoundly they affected me when I was a teenager. I knew I was in the presence of greatness but there was no way we could ever know how people like you would have the same earth shattering experience more than 50 years later. You have a LONG way to go to really appreciate their greatness. They were different on every night. No show was ever exactly the same. I envy you the journey. You put a huge smile on my face and made me feel young again. Thanks.

It's a jam, within a series of 'anchor points' that they invariably get to. You've gotta love the transitions - my favourite is the lead in to 'San Francisco' in the first 10 minutes. He is playing with one hand, because he has his amp cranked up to 11. When you tap down on the strings, it hits the metal frets, and causes the string to vibrate enough to make the sound. This gets way easier when you have the gain (sort of like volume) turned way up.

First note: because they toured so constantly, they often used improv-jam sections of "Dazed and Confused" to develop material for later songs. From about 5:45 to 7:15 in your reaction video, you can hear the origins of what would eventually become "Achilles Last Stand." Some of the guitar picking later in that segment would even become part of Plant's vocal line in Achilles. If you listen close you can hear it already forming here. At about 17-18 minutes in the reaction video you can hear the origin of "Candy Store Rock" in the rolling bass and drum riffs. At 20:30 you can hear the origin of "In The Evening" which would be developed more later. Around 24 minutes there's a bit of what would become "Trampled Under Foot" but it was just a snippet here. As they toured, they would develop these improv threads until one seemed to take on a life of its own, and then they would pull it out of the "Dazed & Confused" jam and put it on an album with its own identity.

It's time to sample another signature Zep style: mystical soundscapes punctuated by rocket-launching riffs. Best examples: "Over The Hills And Far Away", "What Is And What Should Never Be" and "Ramble On" ("Ramble On" is top-five Zep). On the other hand, if you want to melt your speakers, look no further than "Communication Breakdown" (first album), wherein Zep introduces adrenaline-fueled punk rock seven years before punk rock existed. Can't wait to watch you react to those four.

Carol!... you want to know how I felt while I was there at this show in NY?!... excited, confused, disappointed... youre gonna ask HOW could I POSSIBLY be disappointed?... so I was 15 years old, I only had the album, there was no internet, no youtube, no live album so the only thing I knew was the original recording... and I LOVED the album version!... so as a young kid it kinda bugged me that it didnt sound much like the record... BUT, I also knew that Page was wailing his ass off and the band was taking no prisoners... I was also sitting a mile away, wouldve been great if I was in the first ten rows!... But thats how I felt at the time.. Of course through the years, and more concerts, and the movie release, and buying every live bootleg I could find, I came to LOVE this version of course!!!.... and I know Im privileged to have been there... and I WISH I could go back and relive it now and not as stupid 15 year old LOL... welcome to the top of the mountain as far as their live performances!!!

Saw this at midnight movies as a Freshman in high school and quit violin that year after seeing Jimmy use a bow and started my guitar journey. Ruined all my bows trying to figure this out. 😂. 40+ years later and it’s still amazing

I saw them live in 1977. I was 19 years old. It’s a shame that you are too young to have experienced the phenomenon of Led Zeppelin in concert. But if you want a taste of what it was really like, watch the movie “The Song Remains the Same”. That’s where this performance is from. It’s as close as you’re going to get to the real thing. Thank you for your videos! Always a delight to see you post another Zeppelin reaction.

Only John Paul Jones could dare to hold all this heaviness of a band that without him wouldn't even exist together.

This live performance shows off Robert Plant's improvisation skills on vocals really well while also displaying the amazing musical chemistry between Jimmy Page and John Bonham When Jimmy page goes off on one on the guitar Bonham is right there with him never loosing the beat and time

That's cool that you guys enjoy Zeppelin so much. It's fun watching you both react. I hope some day you check out a live performance of "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" - it's labeled "Danmarks Radio 1969" - the band itself is less than a year old - and they are very young. Amazing performance. But thanks for posting this reaction -

All the best MSG concert recordings were on the VHS and then the DVD called The Song Remains The Same, there are alternate performances that are here on KZfaq from the same week of concerts but the best ones are from the VHS/DVD.

Wow, congrats on getting a version of this to react TO! I thought YT had totally scrubbed the MSG concert version. EXCEPT for the YT Movies and TV channel, where the whole Song remains the smae movie is available, but then u'd have to line it up just so to react. anyhow, wherever u found it, great! Great reaction to an epic version of this classic song by the best rock band ever!

Most of that performance was improvised and that's why they're considered the greatest of all time! The two greatest rock bands of all time are Led Zeppelin and Led Zeppelin Live! You should watch the live performance of Achilles Last Stand in 1979.
