Today on AFA Reaction Video, We react to something different, we are reacting to Miniature Wonderland in Hamburg Germany. This place is amazing with all it's detail to building and all the different modes of transportation and shipping. I love how Miniature Wonderland has covered different areas, such as Las Vegas USA, Rome Italy, Scandinavia, and of course Germany. I could spends hours in this place just looking at all the details.

you'v seen only about 10 % ! If you can manage, GO THERE and have a look for yourselves. It is worth each and every penny and absolutely breathtaking! So many landscapes. So many details. So many hidden features and little storys told everywhere. You will need several DAYS to see everything. And that is no exaggeration.

If you're really into this, they have a youtube channel of their own where you can get a lot of behind the scenes stuff etc. I think they're mostly subtitled. They started out in one or to levels of the old storage building they're in. Today they take up the whole building and the one next to it too. It is the biggest miniature set in the world and one of Hamburg's biggest tourist attractions and just in general a great place to spend time.

I'm norwegian and I have been there. In 2013 I belive. That place is mind blowing and I highly recomend visit it. Now they even is making the formula 1 track in Monaco where the cars even will be able to overtake eachother on random places! Their KZfaq channel is showing the latest progress on the whole thing. The building is 5 stories tall and they even expand to a building on the other side of the channel. The whole miniature world is set up in HO scale which is 1:87, aka 87 times smaller than the real world.

In the Hamburg section, there actually is a miniature version of the building the museum is stationed in. If you look through the windows, you can see a tiny train inside there.

The cars run under their own power. They automatically return to recharging stations. They run along a thin metallic line set into the surface. Their steering however is autonomous, so they can switch from one line to the next if their programming allows it. It was developed by the MiWuLa team, and has been perfected over the years. Now they are building the Monaco race track with actual randomized races. Can't wait till they have finished that to go back and see it. Yepp, I live in Hamburg, Germany, so it is easy for me to visit regularly. The total number of workhours surpasses over 350 000 by the whole team over the years. The harbor area with the real water even has tides in it. For that they have a huge water filtration system as well as storage pools for the low tide times where the water is pumped into. They wanted to automate the ships cruising, docking, and leaving, but that was too much for them as the positioning systems they could afford were not accurate enough. They tried with laser positioning but that carried its own risks of an uncalibrated laser potentially harming the eyes of spectators. So even with more than eight or nine years of development they haven't fulfilled the ship automization yet; there's still an employee who has the 'enviable' task of RC controlling the ships. What a HORRIBLE job... playing with RC ships all day. 😂 There's dozen of interactive buttons you can push for some kind of action to be triggered by you. But it is sooo crowded that it sometimes can be difficult to find the action you triggered despite the button being inscribed with the location. Sadly, sometimes people reach into the model and break stuff, either out of ignorance or shere maliciousness. That's why sometimes certain actions don't work. Then there's also the law of big numbers: if there is a 1 in a million chance something will break, that with a model set containing well over 10 million pieces total, something WILL be broken at any one time for certain. Even with constant maintenance there is a high probability something won't work all the time. The MiWuLa began on only one floor, and only in two sections of one building. With Hamburg being the oldest part, shortly followed by Knuffingen, the fictional setting (not based on real world originals). They expanded after that into different countries or areas around the world. Now they have expanded into multiple sections of the top floor of that ex-warehouse. I haven't been there in the last few years, but the last I heard was that they planned on connecting two facing buildings on the top floor with a mobile bridge. The bridge had to solve the problem of the two real world buildings leaning closer to each other during high tides by more than 30 cm (roughly a foot of distance). The tides generate so much pressure on the silt foundations that the buildings shift slowly towards each other over the hours of tidal exchange. To be registered as a single model set (and the largest in the world), each area has to be reachable by one and the same train. Therefore they had to solve the problem of having model trains traverse a bridge with a track that somehow expands and contracts with the bridge by over a foot every six hours. If they didn't want to run into the problem of having one disconnected area from the rest of the set. HOW they solved it I don't know.

Thanks for reacting to the Miniature Wonderland! It is great, and most of the details aren't even shown - you can spend days, even weeks there and still miss something. I was there 5 times, I think, last when they had opened up Italy, and I still find new things in old places. But it's difficult to show all the details on a family friendly channel, because there are a lot of places where things do get quite spicy. Germany is not as inhibited concerning love, and yes, there are a lot of kids visiting the Wonderland - we don't mind them knowing how love works. If they understand, they'll crack up, and if not, they'll either ask or just don't notice at all.

A few data: The entire museums costs 37 milion euros, 3.5 million of them are spent for the airport which needed six years of planning and building. They have working jet bridges and an also working arrival and departure table. There are more than 1100 trains on more than 15 km of track, but there are no trains in the Venice part of the Italy section. The Hamburg section has a model of the Speicherstadt complex where the Miniatur Wunderland is located. And yes, there is a moving model train in this model, so they have a model in the model. The snow in Scandinavia glitters, as it is made of tiny glass plates. But if you want to see all details, including the "easter-eggs", plan to visit for several days. Btw., the tables and seats in the - reasonably priced - restaurant look like being in a train.

Ha, see 'all' the details. That's funny. I've been in there more than a dozen times. Each and every time I find something new. I even took the guided tour behind the scenes. Yet there is STILL more to find.

Been there two or three years ago with my wife. We didn't know what to expect, just wanted to see what the hype was all about. Had some other plans that day, but... well... spent the whole day there. Once we started recognizing all the details (that are not even shown in the film... means the things that these little people do, all the little jokes they bulit in... l remember the italian mother chasing the lover of her daughter out of her house or cows with diving equipment under water and things like that), we couldn't stop looking for them in every scenery as the hours went by.... Go there. Just go there. And by the way: I have also spent my holiday in Switzerland this year. And you are right in your assumption, it's a really wonderful country to go. The landscapes are absolutely great, but there is no overtourism in most areas (except for Matterhorn-area, would avoid that), because it is definitely very expensive. But you really get something for your money, things just work there, and all accomodations we had were worth it. And as the whole county, as small as it is, is influenced by different cultures (german part, french part, italian part...), you get a lot of variety in food and all that stuff, too. We loved it and could have spent more time there than just two weeks.

the car system onl use magnets for the steering as they follow a metall line under the street. the cars themself have an electric motor, a recharchable battery and a controller in it. they have sometimes more than 60 LED lights build in and are free of decide there they want to go following street drive through restrictions for Semis for example. They use turnling lights, show brake lights, sometimes drive to fast and get radared and pulled over and they know themself when the battery needs to recharger and drive into a recharging station behind the scene and get automaticly recharged over metall pins they have instead of side mirrors. you have to see this live to believe it how real this scenery looks

Yes, definitely check out the KZfaq channel of MiWuLa (Miniature Wunderland). They're working on Monaco with the formula 1 race which will have real races including overtaking according to their own information. If you visit there for real, plan on visiting multiple days, so you can spend enough time to see it all properly. You can get through in a full day (but since they are still adding that will become more of a challenge), but if you really want to see all the little fun scenes as well, you're probably not going to make it through all the way. It's definitely on my bucket list with all the amazing solutions they have and are working on at the moment. Thanks for the wonderful reaction!

greetings and love from Cologne, Germany....the german high speed trains are called ICE..short for InterCity Express. Its not as fast as the bullet trains in Japan. They are called Shinkansen with a high speed of 500 km/h or 275 mph....The ICE bout 300 km/h or 185 mph...The ICE's run on a regular timetable and serve almost 180 train stations in Germany and the five neighboring countries of Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Great reaction video, buddy..thanx alot...PEACE & stay safe❤

The cars and trucks are motorized, they have a magnet to detect a wire they follow in the street . Every now and then they go to recharge… “On train”videos are available on their YT channel. The “model” extend on two floors in one and - across a bridge- one floor of a second warehouse on both sides of a canal…

Fun fact: The Carnival do Rio is a "Knopfdrücker", meaning that visitors have to push a button to activate it. Yes, visitors are involved in starting the actions, with getting more than just visual and acoustic effects in one case: Activating the chocolate factory will not only start the working processes there, but also result in getting a small chocolate bar.

We, the Dutch, have that festivity also as does Germany

A great place to be. It is in the Speicherstadt area of Hamburg - literally warehouse city - build in an old warehouse complex that were used to store freight for import and export like coffee, tea, herbs and spices. Right next to the historical docks. The restaurant they have is designed as train cabins with real exempted seats of IC trains (Intercity long-distance trains) of the first generation (70's to 90's).

Cindy Hirschfeld from NY Times was with her Family there and had reported about the miniature Wunderland. The white trains in Hamburg stations are the ICEs. Thats the The Intercity Express is a type of train operated by Deutsche Bahn. Intercity-Express trains achieve the shortest journey times in German long-distance passenger rail transport and are thus the successor to the Intercity. The movements of the cars, trucks, planes and trains are all remote controlled. Gerrit Braun, one of the two founders of Miniatur Wunderland, who is responsible for the technical implementation and development there, not only researched the Formula 1 racing cars and their track technology with his employees, but also programmed many of the software segments himself. I think it was either Java or C++. In the meantime, he no longer needs to programme everything himself.

The producer of the video missed all the funny details. If you look in "overview" you will never experience all the easter eggs. You have to be there in person, have a VERRY close look and you will see funny easter eggs all over the place. For example a house shaking like earthquake, but if you look closer, you see a couple having sex inside. In Hamburg (where the miniature wonderland is located) there is actually a building with the miniature wonderland (with FUNCTIONAL TRAINS !!!) inside - so a miniature wonderland in Hamburg within Miniature wonderland in Hamburg. There is a scene where someone cuts a tree and the tree is falling on his house, damaging the roof - his wife runs out of the house, wielding a pastry roller towards the Lumberjack ..... ..... and ... and ... and .... Basically what you have seen is just a raw overview, nothing special - you really need to go there and visit in person imho.
