Ren is a sensation and breath of fresh air right now. His songs, lyrics and videos are absolutely brilliant. I highly recommend Money Game for the video alone, also Chalk Outlines where he plays the most simple yet beautiful electric guitar.

I'm sure you've gotten a million comments about this between this video and your others - but Ren grew up with Lyme disease, which for years was misdiagnosed as several other things. I know he also suffers from an autoimmunity issue as well, which I thiiiiink(?) came as a complication from the Lyme disease too. (Lyme disease being something people get from tick bites - hence the reference to ticks in the song when he's called sick) This was a fantastic reaction though! Thank you for your reactions, you two are the most emotional people I've gotten to watch on any of the various Ren reactions, and you seem extremely genuine and honest. Love it! Thanks for your efforts to upload all these great videos! It's crazy how different artists (Falling in Reverse, Linkin Park, Electric Callboy, etc.) Resonate so deeply within like it's just you and the song. Every one of my favorite songs hit a different place inside me when I hear the music. Everyone has their favorites. But I don't think I've seen an artist that is so universally loved like Ren. What a rare and wonderful gift he shares with the world.

It's true that there is a wave of Ren on youtube right now but most are focused on Hi Ren and the Tale Trilogy (Jenny, Screech, & Violet) and a few on Sick Boi however it is still just the tip of the Ren musical iceberg, He has The Hunger, Genesis, Bittersweet Symphony, and so so much more quality content. Ren and chinchilla Chalk outlines and Ren and chinchilla How to Be Me. Both live versions. A lot of emotions and you hear another side of him. All singing and what a voice. Also, as others have said the Jenny and Screech trilogy. In order of Jenny's tale, Screeches tale, and violets tale. The trilogy is true story telling that will blow you away but is also very difficult to watch. Very serious but very amazing.

Pretty sure everything happened in his mind. He was actually sitting at therapy in a normal room but thats how he pictures it and that's what he wants to say but he doesn't. If you watch when he is rapping the doctor acts like nothing is really happening. That's my view of it, if you look after he spazzes out the first time he sits down and talks calmly. I think it's partly a video of qhat he really wants to say but doesn't in the session so he made a song where he can say it

Lyme Disease is actually very treatable if caught. But he's had it for years being told it's all in his head. Him having it for years it's still treatable, but it has wrecked his body so now he has to deal with all that. I mean, it will affect your joints' muscles and organs. He's probably lucky he's not dead and will probably never be the same physically

I’m assuming you guy’s have heard of Avril Lavigne (sorry if spelled wrong). She was the first time I heard of Lyme disease. She was misdiagnosed for years and completely disappeared from music until recently. Some of her story and Ren’s are similar. A lot more devastating than what most people realize. This song hit so hard for me! I spent my ENTIRE life misdiagnosed both medically and I mental health. I have two decades of misdiagnosis! It wasn’t until age 37 that I was diagnosed with Autism/Adhd instead of “just depression/anxiety”. I was also diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos, Fibromyalgia, Dysautonomia, and CRPS. After two decades of being told that it was all in my head and it was all psychosomatic.

I just realised at the start when she says ‘your mind is making you sick’ and it echoes off, it sounds more like ‘making music’. Knowing Ren that was intentional and just HOW does he do that

Been through it and he trying give outlet for mentally ill to remind them they not alone and giving general aspects of experiences we go through that are maddening and make you feel alone in world and no one cares and no one wants to help and worse you KNOW that if you even remotely express how you feel they will lock you up and all you want is help to stop it but without help we just finding ways to adapt to pretend to fit in a society we feel would NEVER understand what we think or going through. This kid breaking me lol . He very good at what he does but this the actual help that a lot of us needed to not feel like a stranger in a strange land . Reminding me I cannot fake normal forever , but still scared shitless to even admit half the shit I been through and have to confront the asshole inside me that forced me to screw up everything I have ever tried to do . Good for people, hard core therapy in musical form . One big problem on all this is most of mentally ill and pretty smart … least the ones that survive the system and do things like pretend to not know what the “ trauma reponce “ is and pretend to not know that is bullshit general definition of a much more complex issue … that why tossed in there I think . Unreal though , kid making have to do this though cause he made sense . Faking normal is merely treading water waiting to drown and just not a viable option . Hi ren reminded me that dammit …. I have to merge …. Cannot express how scary this proposition is but this the most honest I have ever been with myself that I have to accept beast living inside . People make the mistake that some mental patients are not scared of the world exactly , scared of the asshole inside us and not being able to subvert feelings till snap fears. Cannot leave my home without preparing to subvert emotion because I know going to have several panic attacks just trying to buy milk . Locked my self up but good and just puffed up to deal in public was my plan …………. Invincible feeling is common because we have survived so far why not whatever the hell ya got now .. but false confidence and truly taking on things risking blowing up if don’t find way to accept a part of myself I HATE …. Swear to crap kids a genius cause I have been to every kind of therapy and treatment and this “ tough love “ approach only thing that made sense and gives me the REAL confidence to try … still scary but it like deciding to literally hang out with my demons on daily basis instead of shove down like they would EVER stay is was a bullshit plan and Hi Ren pointed that out to me clearly in 5 minutes what the ENTIRE medical industry could not for me . Sick boi like a damn flashback and pointed out YEA , screw those people that think they know what they doing that just made everything worse … felt that already but to have that represented was like being confirmed correct on subject and whatever system in place just doesn’t work for some that really … really need help and they need to actually understand what they dealing with to be able … without experience of actual mental illness strait up they are GUESSING and throwing spaghetti at the wall to try and help people with very deep and serious issues . The tick thing sucks bad but honestly without that this would never of happened because he was fine till tick and then misdiagnose him with real mental illness … then refused to look into further and the kid had to be forced into this further for real because the damage was happening and no one figured out to stop it so full on mentally ill but like it’s not my fault either just experience and birth on mine ( “normal “ mental illness) but has the extra rage built up because it was done to him and COULD have been stopped … That kind of thing rolls in your head 24/7 and will drive to violence if you don’t find an outlet . I am glad for his music , it is awesome and super talented … but Christ on a crutch I have to appreciate that fucking tick . It gave a intelligent and genius musically gifted person the insight into mental illness that he was able to actually express musically and explain situation to reg people , and make the truly mentally ill not feel alone …. Plus smart enough to analyze situation while brain on fire to come up with this plan to be able to present the problems in the industry and with a lot of people . Fascinating honestly… still kinda scary but dammit he right about finding a way to accept and just learn where you fit after but FAKING normal prolly most dangerous shit I could do .

Another great reaction. "Sick Boi" is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren." His latest release, “Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve retake),” is another masterful work. There is so much more to Ren. He plays multiple instruments (acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, piano, drums), has impressive vocals, performs a number of genres, is an excellent storyteller, and quite the philosopher and poet. His performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the Moon), Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), his former bandmate, Romain Axisa (“French Song”) are all great. Ren's performances as a member of the band "The Big Push" (which unfortunately broke up) are awesome and well worth checking out, both the busking (street performances) and their live recordings. Ren's covers of "I Shot the Sheriff," "Wade in the Water," "Bongo Bong (Manu Chao cover)," "An Englishman in New York," the songs "Oh My Woman," "Swan Song," and so many others are equally impressive and really give you a sample of his vocal ability. Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice while addressing mental health. Ren's personal reflections on his struggles are threaded through many of his other songs as well; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation, although it is less of a personal song than it is an indictment of greed and the resulting injustices in this world. Ren's trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet." is an absolute must. It is spellbinding, haunting and has an unforeseen conclusion; WATCH THEM IN THE STATED ORDER, as this is the flow of the storyline, or just watch “The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full)” from Ren's channel, which includes “Violet’s Tale at the end. The story is a 1-2-3 punch in the gut and is another example of Ren’s genius and a master’s class in storytelling.

He has some serious rap flows at all pacing. He can mix his cadence and rhythm scheme in a bar. The Hunger and Losing it (Fisher Retake) are couple of my current favourites. His busking performances that got him signed by Sony back before he got sick are great too. The medley he sings with Sam with Man's World is great. Likewise some of his vocals with the group are brilliant too. Multi-talented band of players and singers.

I grew up not far from where this disease was named (Lyme, Ct.) and it was scary before they identified what was causing these symptoms. They literally had no idea why this was happening. I had friends lose their sport scholarships due to this thing. If you didn't treat it right away, there was permenant damage, as Ren is experiencing. I'm glad he's been diagnosed properly. You guys are badass and super fun to watch. Happy to be a subscriber and waiting for the next one.

Our interests don't fully align, but here we meet and I smashy the button... Ren is a diamond with so many facets, a literal modern day Shakespeare if Shakespeare could act, sing, rap, and beat the snot out of a guitar! If you're willing to put the 13 minutes into "Jenny, Screech, and Violet" (search "Ren Trilogy") I'm down for the ride! You may not really agree with the Shakespeare analogy unless you do the trilogy!!! If you do it, just watch his expressions and body language, he plays ALL the roles from narrator to hero to villain to hapless cop with a tough choice (not really a spoiler). If you're not down for that long a video, "Chalk Outlines" is also excellent though less lyrically involved, the lyrical imagery is fantastic.
