The real victim in here is the bully's boyfriend, poor guy.
@jongeduard
@jongeduard 5 жыл бұрын
I think, in the end, a conclusion is that nobody turned out to be perfect and everyone makes mistakes, creating a very sad situation. The big bully was very mean and heartless to the victim, but may be explained by the big fears he had that others would discover that he is gay. The bully's boyfriend did nothing against it, but of course he was scared for losing his lover. And finally, as a revenge, the bullied boy with the camera took the decision to out both guys towards the entire school, a powerful, but very cruel thing to do.

first he have to hide his feelings for him and their relationship - and after it came out that the bully is gay he got a punch from his own boyfriend who suppose to love him - i don´t know what hurts more shame for your true self or the punch - maybe it´s the broken heart after that - he deserves better - someone whos not ashamed for who and what he is - someone who defending him and don´t beat him up - someone who is open about it and into PADing

While in the Navy, I was stationed at Keflavik, Iceland in 1957 (I was 20) and had an opportunity to visit Akureyri in the northern part of the island. On a Saturday night our group visited a club a short distance out of the city. The Icelanders were so generous and welcoming. When the club closed, two young guys invited me, alone, to visit and stay overnight at their place. When we left the club, our first stop was at a pier where a Danish ship was tied up. One of my young friends went aboard and bought a fifth of Aalborg whisky. The rest of our friendship consisted of drink, conversation and sleep. The rest of my life (I am 83, now) I have never forgot those two young men. Each of us knew we were gay and enjoyed our short time together. If either of you are still around and read this, please leave a message.

Agreed, assumptions have proven far too many times, many are quiet people. I have known many young people who have been bullied due to assumptions that were far off, their lives had often reached unhealthy stages, many had completed or ended, which led me to widen my studies and go back to College and get the proper degrees. Today I have been here studying film posted where like-minded young adults frequent. I have passed out hope and resolve and hope to reach as many as possible who will look around and find those who need a friend to listen and help them adjust. Can these young people count on you?

@alwaysuseless

@Alexa - No, it rightly works the other way. If you want to keep an important part of who you are private, don't bully people. On the other side, don't out someone without cause. What the bully got is called poetic justice and an unexpected opportunity for maturation. The bully's boyfriend got to be out, as he wanted. And Pétur got to stop dreading going to school. The do-nothing, you seem to advocate is neither realistic nor admirable, and would have just left their world in the sorry state it was in prior to the reveal.
@alexgref195

I think that what Peter did was a sweet revenge. If the bully is a nice person, outing him is not justified. But since he is a bad person, he deserves to be outed. I would do the same if I'm in Peter's shoes.

On BBC today, there was a program about parental intervention in Iceland that has seen a huge drop in the alcohol consumption of teens, the nice family time they spend together, a new type of trust between parents and kids and the kids' friends and their parents.

At the end, if he actually told him that he’s the one who took the pictures, then he’s gonna need an emergency ambulance to the ER. If the bully was willing to punch his boyfriend in the face (the guy he loves, as he said in the film) on the mere assumption that it was he who took the picture, imagine what he’s going to do to this guy, who he doesn’t have any connection with and sees as an inferior person. 😣 If I were the main character, I’d never say I did it, then I’d delete all traces of those pics and never talk to the bully again, because if a friendship develops, the truth will inevitably surface and ruin everything. Also, you should *never* out someone, it could have horribly serious consequences you cannot possibly predict, especially in homophobic settings.

I kinda like the ending. Leaves it open to interpretation and for people to wonder about it. With that we can know more about who tries to give it a guess. Well, for me, both the photographer and the bully did wrong and had bad decisions, and at the end, also both realized that. So I think maybe the bully was willing to make this waters under the bridge and perhaps a friendship started or even something a little more than that. (PS.: I ship them haha [PS2.: yes, when you less expect, a shipper emerges from nowhere 😂])

I see this as a role reversal. The bully was a piece of shit, yes, but once he got hurt like had hurt others he seemed to change. He also punched the one he loved out of rage and I bet that hurts more than anything. He got his punishment. I was feeling for Petur but after the shit he pulled, maybe there was a reason for him being always alone. He not only spied on a private conversation, he took pictures and posted them to not only hurt the bully but the boyfriend too. That's pretty creepy and evil. I can understand wanting revenge for the one who wronged you but you are a piece of shit when you hurt innocents along the way. After the ending, I feel whatever happened, they both would get what they deserved. The only ones I loved were the boyfriend for standing up for himself and the father for being such a loving and supportive parent.

Very good and interesting film! But of course, doing something like putting the picture everywhere is never a possibility to consider. He should have talked with "Helgi", I'm quite sure that they would've found a "peaceful" solution. In the worst case blackmail him (even if that's something that you should never doo, too). I hope this comment is readable, as English is not my first language.

Ho no. Whoop there goes my respect for the main character. You don't out someone who doesn't want to be outed. It can put them in serious danger. Neeeever do that.

Don't expect someone whose life you're making miserable to "respect" your privacy. What the bully got was poetic justice, not to mention an opportunity to grow up. His ex-boyfriend got to come out, as he wanted. And Pétur got to stop dreading going to school. Never-ever-out--someone is inflexible and illiberal b.s. Pétur had very good cause and did the right thing under the circumstances. Overall, he made their world better than the sorry state it was in before the reveal.

Iver...this is a really good short film...really good ! It could be made into a much longer film with the same exact theme and more time for character developement and I know it must be very costly. Save your krona. If you choose, I feel you will be a great film maker. The camera was the best gift Petur could receive from his loving father { maybe Mom died ? } and he even made Pete's fovorite cake. The bully deserved much worse. Bullies are trash and must not be tolerated. I could go on here for a whole page but I'll stop now. you have a great sensitivity and talent...I wish you all the best . Bravo and Tak sa mycket from the USA.

Amazing landscape. 노르웨이도 아직 호모포비아들이 많은가 보다. 그럼에도 이런 영화가 나올 수 있다는 게 감사하고 대한민국도 부디 나아가자.
