After the last painful experience riding our KTM and Husqvarna 350 's on this rocky single track trail it is time to switch to team red and see how our heavily modded CRF250F kids bikes do on the same trail. With the lower seat height and forgiving engine Alexis finally got to enjoy herself and learn some skills and I enjoyed my time just as much regardless of the compromises that come along with these entry level machines.
Enjoy part two of this beautiful ride!

You guys are going to make the 250F sales go through the roof! 😂 So refreshing to see someone take the logical and robust route instead of blasting away on pricey “race ready” machines. Maybe 10% of the riding population can truly make use of those bikes, yet it seems 60% buy into them. Albeit, you took the long way around to come to that conclusion, but that makes it that much more convincing. Love it!

It is great to see Alexis conquer that rocky single track. She has made tremendous progress in her dirt biking skills. I did notice that she looks very stiff when standing. It might be a good idea to work with her on leaning the bike under her when standing. Looking forward to seeing more single track when you get back east.

I hate to be one of those youtube commenters but I think if there's one thing that's super important when you feel like you have to dab is to keep at least one foot on the pegs. You see this all the time in hard enduro. A bunch of riders with butt on the seat struggling to get moving in a technical section, and then there's one rider keeping one foot on the peg to control the bike and apply pressure. It's common when the bike gets squirrely to sit down and try to touch with both feet off the pegs. It's ok to dab and put a foot on the ground but you will have more control if you keep one foot on the peg. Plus, I find that it makes it easier to touch the ground with one foot if you keep the other on a peg. So if you (or anyone) feels like they need to find a place to put their feet, commit to putting one foot down on one side of the bike! Sorry for the mansplaining if it comes off that way.
@tri-statedualsport4880

A good drill for this is riding with one foot off the peg over rough sections even when you don’t have to. Then alternate.

Great Job! LOL, I still remember when my buddy's girlfriend got her first bike, he taught her how to ride in like 2 or 3 session then we went off on a gnarly 100km off road trip 😂 It was great fun, and she did really well for her first actual ride. It was a CRF230 that she had and such an awesome little bike. We still talk about that adventure.

As americans i know we are obssesed with stats and power numbers, but my god who cares at some point. I bought another crf250f and i dont see myself "needing" anything bigger. I also bought a honda foreman 520 that is "old and outdated" and i dont need anything else.

Damn guys. I'm riding an FE501S and you have me seriously thinking about CRF250F. I love the 55HP in my tuned FE for wide open desert and jaunts on the highway, but you are seriously making an impact on the way we should be looking at bikes. I think the most compelling and valuable take away from this whole series is showing how both an experienced and less experienced rider are completely in love and satisfied with the same bike, with just some minor mods to suit them to height and weight of the user. I'm seriously considering buying a 250F when I see the right deal and then I will have to decide if it replaces or joins my Husky in the garage. My biggest problem is that I live in California and it might be difficult to legally get a plate on this bike.

Great Job Lexi. Keep those feet on the pegs and keep moving forward. The second you take your feet off the pegs you are done. :( I think you might be in too high of a gear too. It's ok to rev the bike out a little bit. It will keep it from stalling. That bike is so much better for you.
@RacerX400600

Right! Seems like she is so focused on standing, but also when sitting needs to focus on keeping feet on pegs. Plus easier to bail if you keep your feet on the pegs. Coaching my kids I constantly tell them to keep feet on the pegs.

A Magura hydraulic clutch would help a lot, or an easy pull clutch perch maybe? I have an RHK clutch perch on my CRF250F and the pull is much lighter 👍 Those black rims are going to look good as well on the bikes 😬

Love the content guys. Alexis is so much more confident on that Honda. I know you have lots of drills and technique tips but I found some really good drills on the IRC tire guy YT. Rich Larsen did a 10 episode series on bike and clutch control that is pure gold for riders of all levels. Even I a rider of 40 years leant some new drills that have further improved my bike control. Never underestimate the slow tight drills. Static balance drills also. Stay safe live free and adventure daily. Regards Michael.

She handled those rocks like a champ! The GoPro doesn’t show how gnarly those rocks truly are. That being said, I visited a friend back east a couple weeks ago and we did some woods riding. Holy crap, I don’t how you guys ride so fast through those trees, I felt so confined like I was riding through a tunnel. Also, some of the trails were covered with falling leaves which made traction a nightmare. It just goes to show that every region presents its own unique challenges and unless you’re used to riding there you’re going to struggle.
@smiththers2

one of the last rides i went on last year was after a really bad wind/rain storm and yea, the leaves on the ground are a nightmare because its easy to lose the trail and makes for a very slick surface, southern maine btw. i would love to go riding out west (i think lol).

They really need to come out with a dual sport or trail bike with the power, frame, and suspension of a 300-450 for advanced riders that are vertically challenged. Obv they make lowering links etc but it throws off the intended geometry, a 37"+ seat height might be fine on a track or out in open country but it really hurt my confidence on enduro, street, and single track when stuff is obviously not level. (Talking a 450RL and KTM here mainly).

i too feel like there could be a balance made somewhere between a big engine and tall seat. its not a problem for me, but def for my wife. go back 35 - 40 years and youl'll get the old school bikes with dual rear shocks, way less travel but have a bigger motor (that most people wouldnt know how to kick start these days) lol

In all seriousness, why are the two of you riding on a difficult trail like that? Selling the KTM and Husky was a big mistake. The issue is your experience and ability. The takeaway I see here is the squeaky clean riding gear and bikes; it’s an indicator they’re spending all their time filming and modifying the bikes rather than riding them. Truth.

Becuse they are riding trails at a leisurely pace they don’t need a race ready buke that costs twice as much and needs 3 times the maintenance. Crf250f is the right bike for the application.
