The fact that both of you made everything from scratch when we Malaysians would opt for instant ones 😭 😭 😭 . This video magnifies the beauty and richness of Malaysian food and how hearts and souls are put into it to make sure that it makes people happy when eating. Hopefully dorang boleh viral di Malaysia. Kalau yang pasangan Korean tu (Si Mariam kalau tak silap) boleh, kenapa dorang ni tak boleh kan. Usaha dorang, orang kita sendiri pon tak sampai macam tu sekali. Tak tepikir nak tumbuk kerisik sendiri, sebab besepah kat kedai 😅 Btw, goodjob and thank you Ichang and Jimmy! 👏🏻👏🏻

Saluting this couple for introducing Malay dishes to foreigners. Can't believe they are able to cook such good traditional dishes from scratch which is sadly to say that the local Malay new generations are not able or honestly speaking lazy to do due to work constraint or much less to say no time to do. As a Malay myself, I salute and respect the both of you. You are the role model for us and proud to say that you are next legacy to keep the Malay dishes culture alive. When you pound, use a stone mortar(lesung batu), line it with a cloth to reduce noise and not disturb the neighbors

I knew the making of kerisik is the most tiring part of making rendang... i had experience to cook rendang from sctrach follow my mother's way but i now i just buy ready made kerisek due to time constrait and no helper..congratulation to both of you..

Even the most seasoned, accomplished, experienced home cooks in Malaysia never make kerisik from scratch. Too much work. What you guys did is just awesome!

It's not hard to make, just buy shredded coconut and toast it in oven and then add some water.

me and my mom always did it a day before we cooked rendang, its exhausting but so worth it.. the subtle difference in taste is a wonder for me compared to the bought ones

shaving the coconut like that, yes it's tedious and we use machines these days. no one really kukur their kelapa now. but making kerisik from scratch, people still do it, but sometimes no time. so just buy the ready made one.

When they made kerisik from scratch reminds me alot of my grandma... the one i learnt cooking from. She always insist that making everything your own makes it more delicious. Including planting your own herbs... Haha..Well, she's right thou, no one can beat her cooking. Even our neighbors often come to her house for her cooking. I miss her alot especially nearing raya.

I was so surprised to see you make kerisik from scratch! You can just use food processor to grind the roasted kelapa but choose to use batu lesung. Amazing!

I bet the whole neighborhood can smell those tasty aroma of and questioning which house is it from... Any type of Rendang is my favorite. Most favorite Rendang is Rendang Tok which is from the State of Perak, and yet I'm a Sabahan but Rendang Tok is my favorite because of its the dry version Rendang and can last for a week if put inside fridge (only last for a couple of hours in my house)

@@Hellibra I learned to cook Rendang Tok from my late mom as well.. We Malaysian are so lucky to be blessed with wide range of food. Each state got their own special dishes..

I used to see my grandma cook rendang tok,and it's a very time consuming rendang 😅. Mengantuk + penat + bosan nk tunggu dia habis masak 😅

@@skaenthusiast Yup.. Totally agree with you about time consuming, it can go for hours and hours depending on the quantity. Must have the patience when cooking Rendang Tok. Why it takes lots of time to get the perfect rendang, because need to control the fire/heat usage and remains in medium heat..

@@ryzalchung8976 Indeed we are blessed in that aspect. This year I didnt made Rendang Tok...but I gave the resepi to a neighbor. She tried and it was a ok. She will improve.

I am amazed by the preserverence that Ichang and Jimmy endured in order for them to cook the dishes. Even Malaysian dont really cook rendang and lemang themselves. A lot of respect to Ichang and Jimmy. Thanks for being a couple of Malaysian represtatives in promoting Malaysian dishes.

Semua keluarga, sedara, kawan yang aku kenal masih masak rendang sendiri. Belum ada yang beli siap lagi. Lemang pun sekarang buat sendiri pakai kukus dan cawan kertas. Sebab asik terkena lemang beli tak sedap/tak jadi.

Homemade krisik is so good, you can make krisik paste : pound 3 shallots, a teaspoon dry prawn, half teaspoon black pepper , a teaspoon lime juice, salt and sugar to taste , mix well with 3 tablespoon krisik and a tablesppon thick coconut milk. A cup bean sprout soak a while in boiling water, 2 cups cokles boil and take out the inside from the shell, 2 long beans cut into 2 inches and boil. Lemongrass shred . Mixed everything well. Nice to eat with rice porridge.

The fact that you even make your own kerisik (fried grated coconut ) showed how persevered you guys were in cooking rendang.. my wife would normally just buy the ready-made ones...hehehehe... And I'm sure even many young Malay people don't know how to cook rendang like you guys. Hari Raya is over , so I am looking forward to watching your KZfaq channel again for next Raya ! Both of you did well with the rendang. It is better to cook it in a wok because it is easier to stir the rendang. You better cut the beef into smaller pieces to make them faster to cook and make them tender. Kudos to both of you.

I played this video on television to watch with my parents while having biskut raya and hot tea. My dad told that Jimmy and IChang are basically Malaysian and mom approved your cooking! Also want to say that your video is sort of a healing to me during this difficult pandemic time ;) so please keep on posting more videos in the future. Both of you have my full support!
