Laguna Humantay is a beautiful lake located in Peru, in the Andes Mountains region, at an altitude of about 4,200 meters above sea level. The lake, which is made of meltwater, is surrounded by snow-capped peaks. The walk takes about 3 to 4 hours round trip, but the view is breathtaking. Along the walk, you will pass through mountain valleys, streams and Andean vegetation.
The best time to hike to Laguna Humantay is during the dry season in Peru, which runs from May to September. During these months, temperatures are pleasant during the day, and trail conditions are more favorable, with less rain and snow.
However, if you are interested in seeing the lagoon with as much water as possible, the best time would be during the rainy season, which runs from December to March. During this period, the landscape is greener and more lush, but the trails can be slipperier and the walk can be more challenging.
