We posted a few videos on our Tiktok channel and got many questions like, "Those must be crazy expensive" & "Isn't that just an orange Ferris?" & "How many pulls does it take to start?" Nah sthil is just overpriced. Im fairly new to the lawn care industry and personally use a Exmark radius S. They run about 9,500 out the door. They also have the E series which is a slight lower grade but still commercial. It goes for about 7,100 out the door. The only difference is that the radius s comes with a ultracut series 4 and a suspension platform as well as the motor of your choice. The E series comes with the ultra cut series 3 deck and does not have the suspension platform. (you can add a promo seat for around $600-800) and you get the exmark branded engine.

Thank you for the video. I was wanting a ferris mower but the local ferris dealer was out of the one I wanted so I called another one a little farther away who is also a stihl dealer. So he only had one ferris in and said hey have you seen these new stihl mowers that are basically a ferris and I saw your video in the queue but didn't watch it yet, guess cause of my search on ferris lawn mowers. So the wife and me went up there and I played your video and can hear the audio [ driving] and I was like yep it's a repainted some what ferris. I trim trees professional for over 20 some years and we use stihl product so this is cool. Well we got one the stihl rz 560F even though I do like the Ferris red color better.

We have uncrated 3 so far that have fuel delivery issues caused by the pickup tube being too long and each had loose fasteners. Otherwise they are pretty good mowers.

Should be interesting to see if these mowers are adopted by the commercial guys. I always liked the suspension aspect of the Ferris. I have an Exmark with a suspension seat, but it still isn't as forgiving as a real full suspension would be.

Yeah, I don't have Ferris dealers near me, so that was honestly the first time I had demoed either one so the suspension deck was new to me. I will say, that Stihl 900 series (same as Ferris 3300, not demoed here) was extremely comfortable and smooth.

...depends on the warranty/maintenance packages...I will tell you right now the big commercial guys are sticking with Exmark all day long. There's too much bang for the buck with Exmark. I personally like Ferris, Scag, etc. but they're too expensive for 15 man crews

I've owned a Farris IZ 700 for at least 5 years mowing 35 yards a week. It's by far the best mower I've ever owned! I've driven or owned almost every brand out there, and it's the fastest, best riding mower I've ever owned! I bought a brand new Dixie chopper and took it back the same day. I also own a brand new Toro Myride and I'm not impressed at all!

I'm right there with you, owned a high dollar scag before, wiring issues and cutting issues from the beginning. Bought a Ferris 700, been cutting for 7 years and I have only purchased blades and one battery.

I bought my first Ferris in 2001 and have moved up to the 2100Z. Looks like the suspension patent has run its course for Ferris. A lot of commercial guys run Ferris because they are not hard on your body. I don't think Stihl was making mowers 20 years ago.

I got an isx800 3 years ago for 8400. It has a 28hp fuel injected motor. Good suspension an 19mph road speed.... except they messed up at factory. It goes 22mph. 😂

Right, that's what the reps are pushing, but I don't recommend doing this when starting out. However, someone who has a good book of business and is cashflowing could spring for an entirely new setup that they know they can pay off. The unit I "recommended" from this line is the 500 series, since it has the lowest price point of their commercial units.

no, dawg, has talking about the finance plan. Then he talks about the 10 grand mower for the price, and that's very true. you are looking around 8 grand to 14 grand, typically. as long as you have clientele, i don't see how this would hurt. I'm a new business and I'm totally gonna do it. the finance plan for the 10 grand one for 36 months would be 277 dollars a month, not bad. i don't have a crazy amount of clientele, and i know i could definitely do that. the top of the line one would be 477 or something like that, id consider that after a solid year of work for the next season. after 2 years, you should be able to hire people, sometimes way sooner. i added everything together, and exactly everything id need to do the whole season without not having a right tool for the job and it came to roughly 5800 dollars and thats added with a 3000 dollar used truck. with all that you should be making enough income to afford the 10 grand one, as long as you have at least 10 clientele, that give you stready work for the seasons. and the mower will bring in the cash. especially if you are in up beat area, seeing brands catches people. its our society.

Yep, every year in my area I see at least 1 or 2 people selling a lawn care setup, trailer/mower/trimmers. People who bought at least 20k in equipment, only to find out that making good money doing lawn care is hard.

Briggs & Stratton owns Ferris and partnered with Stihl. Briggs & Stratton used a proven formula and put it out with Stihl, Stihl didn’t rip off Ferris. Just like mentioned in a post earlier, it’s like GMC and Chevy.

Come on! A USB port isn't a zero turn differentiator. The big sell is the Stihl network of dealers across the country and if the price is the same then B&S made a good agreements with Stihl. Basically, they just expanded the Ferris dealership network. White labeling is not a sin. Its been going on for decades. I actually like the Stihl color mix better than the old school Ferris barn red. Lastly, I've got a Stihl dealer just down the road and was there last week looking at zero turns. Didn't see any of these white label machines. If I had I would have purchased one on the spot! Much prefer the ferris over the BadBoy and Hustler.

Yeah, I don't mind that it's white labeled at all... I actually think that makes buying one easier since you know you're getting a more battle tested machine. I agree with you that the dealer network is the main "pro" in this situation.

I own many Stihl products and I am happy with them all but if the Stihl ZTR mowers are anything like the Ferris mowers then I will pass . Neighbor bought a Ferris and has had nothing but problems after only having it for one week . He says that just about every nut and bolt has fallen out and he even had to replace the deck and some kind of pump on it . But he did say that it was a smooth ride when he could use it .

Your comparison would have a LOT of variables. check tire pressure, shock adjustment, do they both have suspension seats? if so, sre they adjusted the same?

True, but you can't get anything bigger than the equivalent Ferris ISX 800 from Simplicity. The Simplicity's also come with a standard striping roller behind the deck

I’ve got two Stihl chainsaws and two Husqvarna chainsaws. And I don’t have trouble starting any of them. Not sure what issues you’re having but maybe your saw needs servicing. I do my own servicing and learned how to tune the carburetor on a chainsaw 50 years ago. Makes a world of a difference to have the saw tuned properly.

One problem with your dealer support claims…….most Stihl dealers don’t carry the zero turn mowers. My closest Stihl dealer is 10 miles away. The closest that carries the zero turn mowers is 77 miles away. Cue safe trombone sound!

Yeah,its a nice mower, but not the best bang for your buck. You can get just as good a mower,that'll make you the same money for a couple grand less. A 700 series john deere,a gravely, cub cadet,all have commercial mowers under this $10k price tag. If you just wanna say you've got one,then ok. I think savvy buyers will shy away and look elsewhere. They should of offered a more budget friendly high end homeowners option for around $5k,just my opinion.

That's fair. They had residential mowers, but I didn't test those. I'm sure those were closer to the $5k price point, but typically when you buy a residential unit you void the warranty if you run it for a business.

@@tgh223 what do you base the (junk statement on)? They're actually very nice mowers and are used quite alot by pros and large property owners. If you just dont like them then that's fine,but it hardly makes them junk. They have a 4 year 1000 hr warranty, 24" plush seat,24" Michelin twills,hydrogear z3400 hydros,8 gal fuel tank,7 ga deck,and Kawasaki fs or fx engine,and will do 9.5mph. There is better out there,but Deere's price,warranty, and service are tough to beat.

I bought my Mustang 50 to replace my "almost: kzfaq.infoUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend worn out John Deere L120 (48" Cut - 20 HP Briggs). First off - I can now mow my almost 3 acres in about 1/2 the time it took with my other mower... I have had the Mustang 50 for almost 2 years now... Maintenance is easy - the Kohler Motor is "out in the open" and everything, except for the oil filter, is VERY easy to get to... To change the oil filter I have learned to fold the seat forward - no problem now... The deck is SUPER easy to drop... Rememb..

these probably won't sell well, as a good chunk stihl dealers are John Deere dealers. JD dealers are not gonna service or sell mowers which compete with their own, and they're not going to stop producing their own, well established Zero turns in order to sell stihl ones, much like they did with the outdoor power tools in the late 2000#

it can be a ferris or stihl. parts are going to have to come from Briggs & Stratton one way or another. I'll run Ferris on my rigs for years to come. my dealers mechanic said dont waste your money on stihl since the name will just add a few dollars to the price tag

Everyone has to understand a few things… it is 100% a repainted Ferris with only a few minor aesthetic changes. Stihl is not offering mowers at all dealers, it will only be a small handful of mower dealers for 2023. Warranty for Stihl is at Stihl dealer, Ferris/Stihl dealer warranties don’t cross over. The financing “0% for xx months” is built into the price of the mower. Nothing is free, you are paying for it. If you’re a cash buyer the Ferris unit will have a significant price advantage. The only real advantage Stihl will have is their “financing program”. And that’s not to say they’re giving any discounts, because this is NOT a fleet program, pay close attention to wording. Bottom line is they have a 7 year agreement with Ferris for them to build these mowers… but nobody knows how these will sell and/or if Stihl decides to buyout Briggs-Ferris and the Ferris nameplate disappears. Only time will tell.

It might be a repainted but the second that mower starts to deviate from said manufacturing crap will hit the fan really fast. Just like STIHL’S moto mix. They don’t mass produce it but they did engineer it and if the factory deviates or try to rebrand it massive lawsuit will happen.

I am a Stihl guy, for chainsaws, trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers. The zero turn market is very competitive and saturated. Don't care, not impressed, and probably won't make a dent in market share with Stihl zero turns.

The Stihl is a Ferris and we don't need the drama from the video. My Stihl dealer carries Hustler and BobCat. I don't see him signing up for Stihl over priced 'white labeled' Ferris mowers.

I think MSRP will be essentially the same for the Ferris and Stihl. It doesn't sound like they're going to charge extra for the orange and white paint job.

Briggs quality with a Stihl price . You might buy better but you won't pay more .

That's simply garbage, the Briggs engine used on these zero turn mowers are the Briggs Vanguard engine, you can't do much better than the high quality Vanguard engine, Vanguard engine is a tuff long lasting engine, ask General Motors and other manufactures they use the all the time.

@@melvingray5707 I was referring to the Mower being built by Briggs not the Vanguard. And from my experience (alot) the Vanguard may prove to be ok but it's got a long way to go to compare to the years Kawasaki has made some of the best engines ever bolted to a mower.

Buying this Stihl product (AKA Ferris) is a bad move. Ferris which is owned by Briggs and Stratton which owns other products are making bad products and getting worse by the year. They are making them with parts and charging you a lot the cheap parts that break. Stihl is going to regret partnering with Ferris on this deal. Two years tops!

I like this take, but we'll see. I've never personally ran ferris (no dealers near me), so I wouldn't know. But if you know this from experience, then that will be interesting to see it unfold. My only counter to this is that Stihl is SO well capitalized that they could pivot to a new manufacturer and be okay. I appreciate the comment!

@@bobbymorris8571 I believe it. One of the Ferris reps told me that Stihl added lights, a usb charger, and some other specs and changed the color.

Is that why it's the engine choice that's growing in popularity by a large margin year over year? Don't open your mouth if you have no idea what you're talking about. The engines and these mowers are great quality, arguably the best. If ferris with a Briggs had a Scag deck you'd have the perfect mower.

The MSRPs look really similar. I don't think its a huge markup. The question I have is, can ferris dealers sell under msrp? I doubt a stihl dealer would ever discount

Bad test. I have both ferris 2100 and 3200, both 61”. The ride is night and day between them. The is3200z is 10 times smoother and more comfortable than the 2100. You need to test the top stihl against the 3300, side by side and then comment. Wasted my time watching this.

The only reason I stick with echo is because most of stihl products aren’t worth the cost, 20 grand for a zero turn?! That’s ridiculous, and not to mention, the ms881 is just bad, you are paying $2300 for a saw that doesn’t cut fast, bogs down a lot, and floods constantly

Why not just buy a ferris for less money. Buying a stihl is a lateral move. Now, if it was a couple grand cheaper than ferris, then the stihl would be a good move.

I sure as hell wouldn't buy a ferris after all the mowing i've done with one. Ride is worse than a mower with flex forks, uneven cutting with their suspension system and the controls don't feel fluid at all.
