Brooke years ago our neighbour decided he would fix his own garage door springs (in hindsight not advisable). His wife was a very small woman went to open the garage door and it flew up with her flipping up on the door and landing up next to the ceiling. We heard her screaming and called 911. She was bruised but not badly hurt, thank the Lord. Hope your hand is better!

Oh, Brooke, I feel your pain! When I was 7 or 8, Dad had a mechanic garage. I went to help him close up one night and pushed in the 12'x6' bifold doors from the outside. He didn't know I was pushing and pulled it in and it latched in place with both my thumbs pinched. Because of my thumbs being there, the latch was in a bind and he had trouble getting it unlatched. Meanwhile I was screaming bloody murder! My thumbs were out of commission far several days, and 50+ years later are still semi flat and more tender in the cuticle than the others.

In the podcast you talked about getting the "1st room" ready and then seeing the next Cog Hill Family Farm episode confirmed my quilter assembly method. You already know the length of each strip of garden fabric, measure out the first one, cut it, pin it, walk the fabric back down to the other end, just keep doing that back and forth until you have the number you need. Then you can walk each one to where you want it, pin the end, have a person on each side, one person does the measuring with the 2nd person stopping across from the 1st person then both people putting their pin in, move down to the next spot until you get to the other end, secure that. Your next piece is ready to be pinned. When I make a quilt, I do all the cutting first, then I can get down to business.

Guys, given the hard times and possible incoming food shortages, I would recommend you plant some extra food for yourself and for sale. Maybe even talk to some places (like your favorite restaurant) to see what kind of stuff they would be interested in buying/bartering for free meals. With the current inflation, more people may be interested with extra food, instead of flowers. Just a thought...

I lived in Lebanon Oregon when I was growing up. Every year they had a STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL with a huge shortcake the size of a 20x10 trailer. In town you could smell strawberries fro all the farms growing them. It was just in the air. Haven’t had a strawberry shortcake desert since 1980. When I moved to Denver. @@jerrilynhenson9024 Yes I do. But I went back for a visit about 20 years ago, and it rained the whole time I was there. I made the mistake of going in the early spring. It was grey and drizzly for whole the 10 days. I should have gone in June or July, August is too hot and humid. Then in September is the start of the rainy season. As you know, the Willamette Vally has its own weather patterns. The clouds roll in from the coast and get caught in between the Coastal range and the Cascade range and sits in the valley and rains. Thank you for sharing this episode it was fun to spend this time with you. I was surprised to hear you got a call from my neck of the woods, Cookeville. I had no idea Growers Solutions is located here. Congratulations on pronouncing Cookeville right! Most people call it Cook-E-ville, that would have been okay. 🤣 I hope you stay safe from all the storms and the rain goes away so you, Brooke and all the builders can go out and play. Brooke, I hope your fingers are better soon and do check on the automatic garage door opener! 😉 Have you called the plumber about the odd water pressure problem? I’m thinking when you take off the hose it releases pressure so it can work until it builds backup. Try turning the volume of water down instead of full blast, that might help. There was a TV show asking ladies of all ages which convenience would they find it hard to live without in their kitchen. The youngest said stove, refrigerator, microwave and the oldest lady said running water. From my mountain top in middle Tennessee where the hilltops kiss 💋 the sky 🌦, I wish you sweet dreams, Fran P.S. when you started talking about the strawberries, I had to fix a bowl of strawberries! Yes 👍🏼 they were sooooo good! 🥰🍓🍓🍓

Yeah, now you’ve got me ready for strawberries! Here in So. California, ours don’t get good until a little later. Yum!! You probably already know this, but you can get some great juice to drizzle over and soak into your shortcake by macerating some of your strawberries. Just slice up a bowlful, add some sugar and chill overnight. The sugar pulls the liquid out of the berries and makes a great thin syrup. And for gosh sake, make some REAL whipped cream! Those berries deserve it! Can’t you bake your pound cake in Mama’s tiny house? For some reason, I thought she had a full size oven. Thanks for making my mouth water! 😜

We've had a few bullmastiffs that have been scared of loud noises. We have gotten drugs to calm them before storms or fireworks. You just can't have a large panicked destroying stuff....he tore up a dryer one time. Crates are great places for dogs....we use to dog show and it's their home away from home. Soon your baby will be in your new home.😊

I feel your pain Brooke. I was carrying a paperbag with a large can of food in it and when I went down that can fell on my index finger and broke the tip of my finger and popped the nail out of the bed. I tell you what that hurt so so much. I hope yours feel better soon.

Gosh Brooke, you are truly an awesome woman! I would have surely passed out from the pain & been physically sick. Am heading for 74 & when i fall i hit the floor like a ton of bricks & have to wait for a neighbour to call a local ambulance (& police) as she's petrified of causing me further harm - I just need a physical boost, what i call a "jump start" to get off the ground!🙄😂

My Yorkies don’t seem to be bothered of the storms! We live in Atoka, Tn. And in the Tornado paths sometimes! I get really scared, which I am sure feeds the fear of my Goldens!

Back flush your system attach a host to your shower head and flush the lines in the camper also from the sink into a bucket and see if you see something that may come out. Lowes and Home Depot have fittings that fit the fixtures in your trailer!

I look forward to all your vlogs and podcasts. Puts me in a good mood. I live in the foothills of NC close to Winston Salem, NC but somehow, I am following you and your buddies there in Alabama. You've all mentioned Peggy Martin. I'm just going to die if I don't get one too.

Well, at least your plants got well watered!! So glad y’all are safe!! My son has a pitty mix who is terrified of storms and fireworks. Can’t stand to ride in a car, either. Otherwise, he’s just sweet and calm! Be safe! Prayers and Blessings always

This afternoon our little great-grandson (8 years old) found nestled in the base of a crepe myrtle tree three tiny kittens. About 1 foot above those tiny babies was a flat 12 by 12 inch board forming a perfect roof over those babies. Suddenly we realized why we kept seeing that black cat in the back yard...she had kittens! BUT, then we remembered last night. Driving rain, tornados all around, wind blowing everything away. That momma and her babies were nestled, tucked in that very small place with a perfect roof. Mother Nature and Mother collided, but made it.

Talking about strawberries, my Granny would get strawberries and cap and cut up and put water and sugar in a container and put in refrigerator overnight and then we would make strawberry shortcake with the cut strawberries and the juice from the cut strawberries with cool whip. Excellent, sorry for the run on sentence. I really enjoy listening and watching you all.

Brooke, thanks for being you! You’re such a caring person! You too Jason! Love your podcasts! Yay! Greenhouse watch! ⏱I’ve learned to sort out all the pieces then read the instructions one time before starting! Ouch Brooke!? That looks painful! 😵‍💫 When I was young we use to go strawberry picking and then help make preserves. Yum! For our strawberry shortcake we put a little milk on the shortcake too, delicious!

The rain is just what the Flower Garden needed to get the seeds going. When we had puppies we had one that suffered with storms so she would come and cuttle. The heavy rain situations brings back memories of our time that we lived in Mississippi, in the spring and early summer we experienced many heavy rains.

Oh, my dear Brooke, I was going to comment last week when you were talking about the handles for the garage door. Yes, yes, the handles are not just for decoration, they are a safety factor. There will come a time if the power goes off or some such thing. You will need to have those handles to open the garage door. I am so sorry you got hurt. Please take care.
