To help control the bleeding keep the cut above the heart, you can also put a light tourniquet behind the cut. Just be sure to wash it with soap before trying to apply closure strips or bandages. I've noticed my cuts heal 20% quicker if I instantly wash it out with warm water and soap. But definitely see a doctor if you cant control the bleeding or the wound doesnt remain closed with over the counter butterfly strips or bandages!
