This is something I've been putting off for a long time but the time has come to finally try stinky tofu for the first time. Did it smell? Yes. Would I eat it again? Also yes. Intrigued? Watch and see what happens.

Restaurant name: 吴双小馆 Wu's Authentic Chinese Street Food
Address: Shop 7, Clarendon Place, Burwood Chinatown, Burwood
What we ordered:

I enjoy watching your family’s Chinese food adventure videos. I used to take a group of students with me to Taiwan. They insisted to have Big Mac. KFC everyday. I actually got hooked to it. When I was in Beijing in winter, I would be guided by the smell to the store. Yes, the smellier it was, the greater the kick I got.out of it. To answer your question, do I enjoy the smell? It's not the smell I enjoy although I am not put off by it. Perhaps cheese is a good analogy. I love cheese that have pungent smell. I won't just sit there to enjoy the smell. The enjoyment is tasting it. The more pungent the smell, the greater the taste of cheese to me.

There are comments under 司徒建国Stu's recent video about stinky tofu pointing out that the 臭豆腐乳 he tried with steamed bread is actually better for fermenting your own stinky tofu than for direct consumption. Yee...that 臭豆腐乳 must be very 刺激 for him. 🤣 Smelliness squared it's. Fermented 的平方. I can feel the smell from behind my screen. 🤣

@@UP-st8gh I watched a Cantonese TV segment that interviewed an old lady who had been making them for years. She didn't reveal her secret recipe but did say she used prawn shells. Others may use actual prawns but there's definately meat to ferment stinky tofu. Guaranteed.

Lisa Cusak I’m from the province which is famous for the black stinky tofu for ages, and I had been watching them making sticky tofu since I was a kid. Surely there are lots of ways to ferment, but we normally don’t use any seafood and I can understand why the old lady uses prawn shell in the tv show you watched as Guangdong is a coastal province.
