Watching the end twice for the amazing subtitles made me realise... Gavin set Tom up for the last question by casually mentioning half an hour as an example, after he realised Tom really had no sense of scale. Nice work Gavin!

The ending is almost biblical in its punishment of hubris. It's practically an Aesop's fable.

Tom went from being fine to his eyes trying to escape his skull within milliseconds. And Gav is there thinking "Worth it."

30:30 I can't get over how he said "Yes!", turned around to look for the icecream, then turns back towards Gav literally just to shout in anguish

They both said "its wet" and then the full fury of the fires of hell invaded their mouths. So clearly hot sauce only gets hot if you acknowledge that it is wet.

Fun fact: There is now a 30-year-old dog named Bobi, making Scott even more correct presently.

These two are both so incredibly British, they're almost cartoonishly classy compared to how much discomfort they're in for how long

Tom's eyes just slowly attempting to leave his head at the end is just the funniest thing ever.

The over-describing subtitles were absolutely hilarious. Well done subtitle team.

Gavin's dejected "I just thought they would've done more at the zoo, y'know" and "why did it have to say five months?!" had me dying of laughter.

Gavin was definitely leading Tom on with that 30 minute speedrun. He knew if Tom put 30 minutes, it would be the easiest win. Hahahaha

I'm convinced that whoever ordered these questions put the video game one last, knowing damn well that Tom knows nothing about them and Gavin literally plays video games for a living 🤣

I think Gav handled this like a champ - Tom suffering at the end was more hilarious than Gav having to squirm on the floor to calm down 🤣

The way Tom's face lit up with pain was just...amazing. Never been so delighted to watch two grown adults scrabble at a quart of ice cream. Truly top-notch content. Subtitle team, you really knocked it out of the park on this one. Also, it's a funny fact that the world's largest IKEA isn't even in Sweden, it's in the PHILIPPINES at the Mall of Asia. Mall of Asia is the world's fifth largest mall and is owned by SM Prime. They own other megamalls (or as they call them, SM Supermalls) in the Philippines like SM City North EDSA (13th largest), SM Megamall (15th largest), and SM Seaside City Cebu (16th largest). The Philippines sure knows how to build a mall. That aside, if the question was asking squared feet, Tom would've been closer as in squared feet, it's 699,654.2

The thing about da bomb is that its the only sauce on the show made with pepper extract, which is almost pure capsaicin. They used to have other extract sauces in the earlier seasons, but decided to abandon them because they barely even qualify as a sauce and taste unpleasant. They kept da bomb to still have one knockout "stunt" sauce in the lineup.

As a subtitle user, it's awesome to see a creator investing in professional-quality subs. But Gav wriggling around on the floor like he's forgotten he had limbs was still the best part.

the descriptive subtitles are obviously amazing but what they did with the pronunciations at 14:10 is really excellent

Watching Tom get completely blindsided by the speedrun question was genuinely really funny.

Without Sean Evans to say "Careful around the eyes", things get dangerous.

Somehow, despite going only 2 for 10, I think Gavin won.

Gav saying "It is youTube after all" has such a corporate villain mood to it.

Word for the wise: don't do this with chips (or any light snacks for that matter), do it with something you can get a good chew on. It's better for suppressing the impact of the sauces, get it to hit more slowly, and to help you focus on other flavors. There's a reason they do it with meat on *that show*

your subtitles team is A+, dont tone them down. they dont distract from the content, they are part of the content. seperate colors for different speakers, variations in text size, and other emphasizations put them at possibly the best CC team on youtube. they handled this one particularly well though.

FYI, the "Da Bomb" they use on the show is different from the one sold on their website and shown here, because the online store as a policy sells hot sauces made with only natural ingredients. The original Da Bomb uses artificial capsaicin extract, so the makers created a new version using only natural ingredients that can be sold on the online store. I haven't tasted the new Da Bomb, but I have tasted both the original Da Bomb and Apollo. It's not close, the Da Bomb is much worse. Apollo at least has the merit of being tasty, Da Bomb is just poison.

Gav subtly pushing Tom to go for a longer guess on the last one is genius.

Gavin is a stand up guy, he enters a competition with high stakes and then accepts the rules and consumption based consequences, and in no way tries to wriggle his way out of it like a snake. I'm sure all his friends are just as scrupulous.

The subtitles of pain were so fun! Coming from someone that uses subs where available, the people that do these should be proud of the brilliant job they do.

Damn, Gavin was a huge part of my entertainment as a teen, I haven't seen his videos in years and years and it's great to see you two together

This is the best video I have watched in the last 3 months. That’s hundreds of hours of content for me. Phenomenal questions, people I find interesting, marvelous narrative arc with a cherry on top being Tom’s every anguished cry of pain being perfectly catalogued by the subtitle team. Masterpiece.

the minute that last question went up, i knew the questions were set up perfectly. they made Gavin climb up Everest normally, then they dropped Tom to the summit without an oxygen tank.

The subtitles for the last dab were incredible! This video was much more enjoyable because of the expressive subtitles. Way to go.

For most of the video I was feeling sorry for Gavin, but at the end Tom was genuinely looking like he was about 15% of the way towards death.

Fun fact: The theoretical perfect time for a speedrun of Super Mario Bros. is 4:54.26. Speedrunners have optimized that game to near perfection trying to shave off every frame possible. Not watching Summoning Salt has never caused someone so much pain.

Honestly surprised the subtitle team didn't caption the panting. It really stuck out to me as part of his reaction to the sauce 😂. I was laughing so much at the subtitles! Great work!

Two of my favorite British creators in a room, trying spicy foods! What a sight! Also: most of these were out of my wheelhouse but I was close with Tom on a couple and I knew enough about Super Mario Bros. speedruns to get close on my own (my guess was 4 min 53 sec 010 ms)

I feel guilty for laughing so much but after Gavin did the majority Tom's reaction at the end felt like justice. and the contrast between the initial disappointment at the seeming mildness and the later severity was great.

Gav's guilty giggles at Tom's expense is exactly the kind of Slow Mo Guys experience I was hoping for.
