In this episode we try Polish street food. We made a list of traditional Polish foods and head to the Streets of Zakopane to go on our very own DIY Polish Street Food Tour.
If you have never tried Polish Food we would highly recommend it. Since coming to Poland we have relly enjoyed the endless choices of good Polish food.

@@swiety_eligiusz It's budget restaurant with delicious and home made style cuisine for absolutley bargain price. In the past was subsidaized by government. So tasty and popular. You can try many different traditional polsh dishes.

Kotlet schabowy it's nothing special southfried style pork chop but gołąbki are something different and new for Irish 😅

Getting slowly celebrity status in Poland 😜 Love to see it. Samantha you’re gonna be very healthy after Kwasnica as it’s made from fermented cabbage full of healthy probiotics for your gut flora. Those potato pancakes with mushrooms sauce look so good next time try with a glass of kefir also extremely healthy drink. Yes Fat Thursday is on 24th feb and it’s a donut 🍩 Armageddon in Poland donuts everywhere sort of like pancake day in UK but bigger.

@@GoTimeTravels Tylko nie przesadzajcie z pączkami bo pączki są pyszne ale strasznie dają w biodra. Nie bez przyczyny ten dzień nazywa się tłusty czwartek. Tłusty czwartek to w zasadzie koniec karnawału i ludzie szaleją, a potem łykają leki na wątrobę. 🤣🤣🤣 Teraz jest nieciekawie bo jest wirus ale normalnie to wszędzie są potańcówki i imprezy. Cieszę się, że wam się podoba w Polsce ale to co widzieliście i doświadczyliście to tylko malutki ułamek tego co można zobaczyć i doświadczyć w Polsce, a kuchnia polska ma tyle odmian i jest tak różnorodna, że nie ma tu miejsca aby to wszystko opisać. Pozdrawiam i zawsze się uśmiecham jak widzę was takich radosnych. 👍💖

@@GoTimeTravels Fat Thursday in Poland is celebrated on the Thursday preceding Ash Wednesday, so it is a movable holiday. Pączki/donuts are an absolute must. Various types, common filling is rose, orange, strawberry and toffee jam. I also recommend trying very tasty faworki, they are unique in taste. PS. On a fat Thursday people often count how many donuts they ate throughout the day, even competing with friends or family who ate the most. It is a great celebration of sweet food in Poland, in which nobody counts calories. There are even special displays with sweet pastries in the shops on this day.

Another great video 👍🏼 I think 20 zł for the waffle 🧇 and 6-8 zł for the doughnut 🍩 are quite expensive not only for Poles but also for foreigners. It seems like everything is expensive in Zakopane, I guess cos it’s touristic destination.

Yes to me as lower income American that was very high price. At almost $1.50-$2 for only one donut very high indeed.

I go to Poland often and yes seems expensive. I'm hoping prices haven't gone up that much. I'm a budget traveller.

I understand why you are both so full. Polish food is so good. Canada is really multicultural and perogies are very popular here. My son ate them constantly all through his childhood. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Obwarzanki actually come from Kraków, usually you just buy one and split it part by part and eat on the go (depends on the person tho, you do you 😉). Traditional ones are with poppy seeds but I would say the best ones are with the cheese, the "blandness" is not a problem with them imo. And to answer why we usually eat them plain is that, well, Polish people generally love bread XD

Vege? Try soup coled żurek. Have you ever tried potato or kielbasa from bonefire? Best food when you are outside.

I've ever only eaten plain obwarzanek and it's mostly cold but *fresh* . It was always a good, cheap option you could just eat anywhere on a go. It feels you up pretty nicely until you have time to sit down to eat something better. But also, I would definitely have something sweet to drink with it.

Virtually every region of Poland has its own regional cuisine. You must try Poznań-style duck with warm red cabbage and steamed yeast dumplings in Poznan. The beef roulade with Silesian dumplings and red cabbage is an iconic dish in Silesia. If you are in Podlasie, eat potato cake etc. 😂😂😂 The strangest thing is 'czernina' in Poland. It is a soup cooked on the basis of broth with the addition of duck or goose blood, vinegar and dried fruit. It used to be a symbol of refusing to marry. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@swiety_eligiusz No nie tatar pochodzi z Francji i jest bardzo tam popularny, żelazne danie każdego Paryskiego bistro. I nie ma nic wspólnego z Tatarami. Ktoś do Polskiej wiki napisał idiotyczny tekst nie mający jak się do prawdy o tatarze. Pamiętaj wikipedia, to nie encyklopedia gdzie bardzo powoli ją robiono i hasła opracowywały największe autorytety w danej dziedzine. Ae można taką wodziankę, faferfluchy, piróg Biłgorajski, pyza Warszawska itd i tak dalej 🤣🤣🤣

Jesteście już ekspertami kulinarnymi na Podhalu :) dwa posiłki jednak nie do końca prawidłowo jedzone : 1) kiełbasę jemy z pieczywem białym,plus piwo ;) 2)obwarzanki to TYLKO w Krakowie(nigdzie nie smakują lepiej) i raczej w ciepłe dni,bo inaczej twarde jak skała ;) Pozdrawiam wspaniałych turystów ;)

@@GoTimeTravels Obwarzanek Krakowski is tough, because the dough is first brewed and then baked. This is very old bread. It was founded in the 15th century or earlier. Bagels were made in the 17th century also in Krakow.😉🙂

Hello again :) Ohhhh You must like Zakopane and Polish food. I can see it in your speech and eyes. Be healthy :) The waffles (GOFRYS) are amazing. You look like the inhabitants of Zakopane! Referring to Kielbasa. We have many types in Poland. It is worth trying Kielbasa MYŚLIWSKA (in English - hunting sausage) and Kielbasa JAŁOWCOWA (in English - juniper sausage)

I'm not sure , but think kiolbasa actually translate to sausage correct ? And sausages come in many different ways.

Whenever I go back, I eat auntie's homemade placki ziemniaczane z gulaszem, (góralski gulasz is different in that its thicker as apposed to a light sauce traditionally) and golonka from my cousins restaurant. Hope you guys enjoyed the new dishes. Stay safe.

Another great video! Whenever I go to Polish mountains I always eat "placek po zbójnicku". I really recommend you to try it since I clearly see that you already like pancakes and this one is with amazing gulasz. 😉

You are so lovely that it is not supprise that people invite you to their house. Looks like you are already having your polish fan club. I am a member as well. I reccomend you to go and see the Podlasie region and especially Wigry Lake National Park. Best to visit in the summer. There is a place in north East of Poland close to polish lithuanian border. Cheap and delicious foods over there guys!!! Go for "kartacze", "solianka" soup (thats russian cooking taradition), lithuanian version of pierogi called pieliemieni and of course Sieja and Sielawa Fish (that Fish exist only in some lakes in northern Poland and tastes just great!!! Delicate meat with no many fishbones). In general that part of Poland is naturally (not like in the western Europe)multicultural. Polish Belorusian Lithuanian and Jewesh traditions in one. And the Lakes over there are so clean and good for swimming, canoing and sailing. Please dont let yourselves to miss this place. Its really beautiful. Once again great video and I am looking forward to see the next ones🙂🙂

So ... Pączek was with Rose jam most likely and its a most classic version. And yes we eat them on Fat Thursday and we also eat Faworki ont this day. Zapiekanka with cheese and mushrooms, classic again 😋 Pierogi, the ones you had were called Pierogi Ruskie. Pierogi z serem (with cheese) are different. It's confusing as both are with cheese however Ruskie are sour/salty and the one called with cheese are sweet. 😁 Regarding prices just remember you are in the one of most expensive cities in Poland:) It is a great content you creating love watching you 💕

Thank you for showing me my hometown. I grew up in there and miss those flavours. So...obwarzanek we eat plain as a snack. Originally from Kraków. It has long tradition. Pączek you had is probably with rose petals marmalade as its traditional Polish filing but the traditional one has icing and sweet orange peel on the top . Dumplings are made with white cheese ( thicker than cream cheese) and boiled potatoes. You made me feel need to go back for a dinner there. I'm glad you liked it. I enjoyed it with you 😄 and defo subscribed. You remind me my childhood flavours 😍x

Śliwowica originally comes from Bulgaria, but we have to also in Poland . Śliwowica oryginalnie pochodzi z Bułgarii. Oczywiście jest też i w Polsce . Chyba Siwucha to pochodzi bardziej z południa Polski .

10:00 yes those are mostly sold hot, and when they are hot taste is just amazing! Especially with coffee ....shared 50/50 with your beloved one. I know in England you eat chips with coffee😄

Hi guys! It's so nice seeing you again! With "traditional" polish food it depends of the area you are in at the moment. If you'll ask about our typical food each person will name different dish :) I'm from Silesia and would never say "pierogi" are traditional for me :) Have fun in here and hope to see more of you anytime soon :)

Hi there 👋 thanks so much for watching, we are learning more and more about the regions of Poland and their Food. As you say, what is traditional polish food might not be so traditional in other parts of Poland. Someone also said the OSCYPEK is not the same now as it would be in summer too, so learning all the time. One thing we would say is the foods are really really tasty 😋

You eat OBWARZANEK just like that. It tastes much better in summertime. It has specific yummy aroma as well. Now you have to come back to Poland in summer to taste it again!!!!
