We Try Polish Food, and yes, its amazing. Since we began to travel Poland we have been excited to try Polish food, we didnt really know too much abour it, but after receiving some reccomendations we were able to try Pierogi in a traditional Polish restaurant in Gdańsk. We were pleasantly suprised just how GOOD it was. We are huge fans and we can't wait to try different variations of them (and there is a lot)
We were also really excited to try out the Polish train system, to visit Malbork Castle, the biggest brick castle in the world. We needed to get a train from Gdańsk to Malbork (which we missed) but thankfully we managed to get the right train in the end. There is so much happening here in Poland so why not come along with us for the journey...?

My mum ( 58 ) still makes kompot every summer and "jar" it , and they still have like 50 of them in the basement...

I’m glad your hiccup on the wrong train didn’t derail you both 😜!! Cool castle with a sweet looking toilet, I might have to put one of them in my tiny home 😝. The size of that church was totally bonkers - lol @ the last words written on the staircase walls by previous tourists🤣!! The view must have made it all worthwhile. Amazing looking food!

Totally agreed... although there are exceptions: Queens, Kings and pregnant women 😏. It applies to eating at a table while seating in an enclosed place like a house, resturant and alike. The Lady without any doubt qualified here to pass the rule... you Dude, NOT ... but I have a feeling that you will improve ...

@GoTimeTravel Kompot is what our mums make at home, simple stuff just put any fruit you want in a pot with whatever spices you want, or no spices at all, and cook it, reduce it so it become a sort of concentrated fruit juice and you can put in in a jar and store it, the. To use it, mix the kompot you cooked with some water and there you go…. Or drink it straight after cooking it, whatever you prefer

That's becouse Poland is a massive country :) We were and are in the clashing point of nordic, teutonic, germanic and eastern slavic culture and yet we still stand as a nation of many different regions and cultures of our own. That's why in every bigger city you can find manifests of marvel and power. Malbork was built by the Teutonic Order as a hq of "forewall of christianity" and as a monument of political will and power of east-oriented christian conquerors. Everything in Poland always stood between massive cultures, religions (pagan times or reformation), big bussiness (like Hanseatic League wich Free City of Gdansk was a non-national member for centuries) or other political powers of the eras. Take a time to dig deeper 'couse those monuments of state and human will are often hundreds of years old and their history is so rich and turbulent it's almost unbelivable. Welcome to Central Europe :)

Even if you don't understand Polish, if you look at the annunciator boards (and this seems the same in most of Europe) any delays are on the bottom line, in a different colour, and usually have a number in among the writing which tells you how late your train is running

Great video, we're loving the regular videos! You need to try Krowka polish sweets, there one of my favourite when I'm in Latvia, there like a fudge type sweet the polish version is very similar !

Another fantastic video. I love your enthusiasm despite the chilly weather. Gdansk and Malbork are both beautiful. Hope you come back to Poland in the summer in the future to fully experience the cafe life and all the beauty in the summer light. Btw, did you guys get a chance to go inside the Malbork castle or just toured the castle grounds?

Thanks so much, we are hearing a lot of good things about Poland in the summer so maybe we return to experience that some day. We went inside but only to selected areas, the majority of the castle was off limits, so we seen some of the inside and walked around the outside. We didn’t really mind, plus the admission fee was really cheap. 😁

If you have ever opportunity please visit Krzyztopor Castle ruins nearby Kielce in Ujazd it was one of the largest residences in Europe. Very impressive ruins to see

As seasoned travellers you should know that the restaurants that have manus in English are the ones you want to avoid 😂 in fact the more languages the worse it’s going to be probably xd

Exactly. Go local. You'll pay less and eat a lot, lot better. Nothing against those establishments that have English menu, but they are usually overpriced. Now I know why you folks do that - Polish language is hard, so you would have no idea what to order, but yeah, general rule is to not eat in those and not to buy beer made by Browar Żywiec Company, cause it's the most commercialised beer here ;)

We really love the compot, I guessed that in the summer drinking it cold would be a better option, but we’re too cold ourselves 🤣 we picked a great restaurant, I don’t know if you seen our first video from Poland, but basically we couldn’t get a table coz the que’s were so bad, but it was worth the wait 😄 polish food is beautiful 😍

@@bognabaumann3206 its funny because the restaurant was recommended to us by a waiter in a coffee shop on Mariacka St (which you will also have the visit, literally the BEST coffee in the world) anyway, we asked him for a good place to try polish food and he told us to go to that restaurant, so it really worked out ❤️😋

hey nice ppl, glad to see you like Poland! one little language advice.. the word 'pierogi' is already plural as "i" or "y" are typical plural suffixes in our language.. we say one "pieróg".. two or more "pierogi".. the English "s" is just not necessary, it just makes it sound odd with two plural suffixes :)

Next time try the meat pierogi and also the cabbage and mushrooms. Those are the “traditional” ones (in addition to “Ruskie” which are potato and cheese). My favorite are meat.

Nice video. One little thing to point out. It's consider very rude for men to not take his hat out when entering restaurant, office, home, church etc. It's ok for woman to do it. Have fun

I never tried to eat pierogi with chocolate and cherries. Next time you definitely should taste a traditional polish soups: żurek, rosół, flaczki. Those are top 3 polish soups in my opinion. Nice video, cheers!

Pierogi is already plural, hence pierogis is a mistake. A singular form is pieróg.

Of course the train was delayed. They are famous for being sorry for delays. It's like a national stereotype in Poland. Pociągi are always delayed :D Actually, there was a thing like 10 years or so when many stations and railways undergo modernization the sumarized delay time of all the trains "running" was bigger than the entire lenght of the particular year they occur in :)

So I'll say this: 1. For many historical resons Gdanks would have more German speaking tourists so , German language translations and guided tours would be more popular 2. Choosing the right season is important , because of course hight of the season is lets say form may to September when you get a lot more people and probably a little more expensive but the weather is much nicer, although I would also recommend end of September/beginning of October because with a bit of luck you can experience the Golden Polish Autumn, because it is worth mentioning that Gdansk Is a part of area called the Tricity area , so its closely neibhoured with Sopot and Gdynia and all of that I'd surrounded by the Tricity National Park so it's heavily forested and if you get a car you can go about an hour outside and see The Kashubian lakes 3. The will be a lot of national pride in Slavic and neibhouring countries when it comes to food but a lot of it it's just different takes on same stuff and obviously the more traditional would mean just taking out of produce that was offered in the are so definitely in Poland you get all of meat, cabbage,wild mushroom, forest berries, potatoes and barley inspired foods. Especially if it's like a wedding dinner at midnight you can have some wild bore or meaty stew that are filling and just heartwarming :) So pierogi was a good choice but also try sausages, local fish and so on

Google "Gdansk Zeppelin" in images. You will find pictures from 1930s with a Zeppelin next to the cathedral that you have just visited (well, a year ago lol).

Pierogi are a bit like Polish pizza, because you can add any ingredients and they will still be pierogi - even more so, because pizza after adding pineapple, as we know, ceases to be pizza - and pierogi with pineapple would theoretically still be pierogi ;) (please, do NOT add pineapple to pierogi )

Guys, I like watching you very much, but one thing bothers me. Do you eat meals in your country at home or in a restaurant with a headgear, because I noticed that other tourists from Western Europe also do this? In Poland you eat in rooms with your head uncovered, maybe in other countries there is a different custom?😄
