We loved our view of Chateau Frontenac in Québèc City from our affordable Lévis Airbnb. After weeks of admiring it, we decided we HAD to go inside and check it out. I found an affordable route to do just that -- a guided tour with a bit of splurging on a nice lunch. The tour made us want to get to know the iconic hotel even better, so we talked ourselves into spending a luxurious night in the tower. BTW, our arms are pretty easy to twist. We hope you enjoy!

Because we lived in Quebec at the time, I didn't want to do the most touristy thing ever; ie, tour old Quebec in a horse driven cart. But we did. A local guy, who worked in Whistler in the winter, guided the tour. It was super informative. For example, he introduced us to the oldest building in North America, built in 16 hundred and something. That's something that I would do again. Your videos are very professionally done.

Thank you for that, every few years, I make the 9 hour trip from my home near Niagara Falls (Can), to visit the lands of my French Canadian ancestors, but, not having much money, my accommodations consist of camping and the odd low-price motel. I often have walked below the giant chateau and wondered what it was like inside, now, I finally know! (I could never afford even one night inside such a place!) PS The line of Chateau hotels were built by both the Grand Trunk (Now CN rail) and the Canadian Pacific railroads, as part of their efforts to beat each other in the tourist train wars of 150 years ago

Lots of history in Quebec City. It most famous as the site of the battle of the Plains of Abraham in 1759 which resulted in the defeat of the French in North America. In WW2 German U-boats came up the St. Lawrence sinking merchant ships and dropping off spys. As a result all allied shipping in the St Lawrence had to be escorted by warships in convoys and these convoys would start at Quebec City.

Our french class from London, Ontario stayed at the Chateau Frontenac back in the 1972. I doubt that would happen today. I took my wife and family to Quebec City and we stayed in a bed and breakfast, the house was built in the 1800s. The food and memories are tres magnifique ! I remembered a phrase from grade 8 french.....haha. Good video.

During the Holidays, the halls of the Chateau are decorated by themed Christmas trees, usually paid for by local companies. It looks pretty darn good. They also used to do English Tea during the afternoon. It's a cheap alternative to a full meal if you just want to enjoy the atmosphere. And when it comes to food, Quebec City is hard to beat: there's more restaurant per capita in Quebec (and Montreal) than in bigger cities like NYC or Los Angeles!

What a wonderful place to go on a work-related trip to. While you may not have much time for romance, this post has some of our Quebec City favorites in it: chrisplusmelissa.com/your-romantic-getaway-to-old-quebec-planned/ For dinner, we especially liked Chez Boulay and the brunch at La Buche is fantastic. We definitely recommend making advance reservations to those restaurants. It's such a charming area.

At 13:00 i find your joke very funny but believe it or not, in those days Canada was known as a military nation that rivaled the US and the UK. Yes very hard to believe. But we stayed that way until the 1970s/1980s thats when the whole mutual destruction by nuclear fire became our biggest fear because Canada is located right in the middle between Russia and the US so naturally most nukes from both sides would fall on us after being intercepted by either country. A destroyed incoming nuke is still radioactive and does crazy damage. It was clear that a military solution would doom Canada no matter which side we'd choose. And so we disarmed and went pro peace and brought both sides to the negociating tables. And achieved world peace. - I wish i could call this the end, but the moment Justin trudeau became our prime minister, he ruined everything. In 2004 we even had made an alliance with Russia and nearly got Russia to join NATO but stupid Trudeau took bribe money from some Ukrainian billionaire and in exchange he destroyed our alliance with Russia and started doing everything to anger Putin. This whole war in Ukraine is solely the fault of Justin Trudeau. He is the man that doomed us all for the sake of his greed!
