Really? I interpreted this scene as Wanda rewarding herself and having no-self awareness. She's so sick of dealing with other people and instead of dealing with her problems, she's just hiding out and pretending it's a "punishment". But it's not punishment, it's what she really wants. Plus the zoom-in at the end was so Office like. They did it all the time with Micheal where he would say something stupid and the camera would zoom-in as if to say "Really? Who are you fooling here?" There's no way Wanda actually thinks this is a self-punishment, that's just how she's justifying it to herself. The scene is funny because it's ironic.
