My son moved to Japan from the U.S. in 2015, he went to Japanese Language School and now speaks fluent Japanese. He is "not" in the military. He married a Japanese woman, she and her family speak no English. He lived in Tokyo a few years and now lives in a "suburb" of Tokyo called Chiba. He has been in Japan 8 years and has been all over the country traveling. Only a very small percentage of Japanese speak English, it's more common in Tokyo due to the high tourism. NO TIPPING in restaurants, always keep your passport on you when on foot in case the police ask to see it. Read up on proper etiquette in Japan...many do's and don'ts. In Tokyo, you will see signs in both Japanese and English. On the train in Tokyo you will hear announcements in both Japanese and English....but when you get outside the city and into rural areas and little villages...expect possibly no English announcements, possibly no English on signs, or speaking of English. Utilize a translator on your phone. It is a beautiful country, my son loves it there. If you plan to bathe at onsens, it is in the nude after you pre-wash....and public onsens, gyms, beaches, pools often prohibit tattoos and/or they must be covered as it can be a sign of Yakuza or some other criminal connection....so if you have tattoos, watch for prohibited 🚫 signs. It's a beautiful and very safe country in comparison to the rest of the world. In "Tokyo proper" there are areas that can be dicey for tourists not realizing they've crossed over into a "red district" 🚨. Mount Fuji is a great spot, and the country has over 180,000 Shinto and/or Buddhist shrines and temples. If you plan to visit a shrine or temple, you might need to read up on the proper etiquette there too. The grounds surrounding these locations are usually quite beautiful, and are visited heavily by the Japanese and tourists alike. While in Tokyo, maybe check out the Emperor's Imperial Palace grounds. Best wishes, it should be an AMAZING TRIP. 🗾 P.S. Be prepared for the regular earthquake activity there, typhoon season, and the cherry blossom season is a big deal there and greatly celebrated.

When I watch the World Live Cam and they show Hokkaido, there's always snow on the ground. I would love to go to Japan just for the authentic ramen houses and the Sushi!

I am in Napa Valley, and I can tell you that Chocolate and Wine pairing is a THING! Love it! My favorite is a nice deep red wine, like a Cabernet, and some dark chocolate. YUM!

I had the same problem with the monitor when I changed the battery (I use this on my large residential propane tank). Put a little di-electric grease on it (like when you first put it on the tank) and you should be good to go. And it could also be the battery.

Congrats, that is so amazing. I enjoyed my time in Sasebo and Yokosuka Japan. The coffee was the best. The people were very friendly. I had to adjust to how men had freedom to tinkel anywhere 😂. Beautiful people and place enjoy your stay. 🙏for safe travels ✝️

Kyoto for a traditional tea cermony and you might get a glimpse of Maiko's (Geishas in training) these young girls start training at 14 to 15 years old as apprentice to become Geisha's. I was fortunate to attend a traditional Tea ceremony. Can't wait for the videos as I armchair travel with you my super joyful couple. Did you ever receive my StarWars socks?

Their is nothing wrong with taking it easy and taking a break. Two years of traveling is rough. I travel for a week and i feel like i need a vacation from my vacation lol! So i give you props. I think you two enjoyed around Christmas staying in a place and not traveling. Sometimes its amazing to take a break. Traveling internationally i watch many van lifers who did that. Just be oreoared for everything to go wrong. America is cushy compared to that but man is it gorgeous. My family is from italy and Brazil on ny dads side and i wanna travel over there so much. But doctors said hell no are you crazy lol so i live vicariously through you two lol
