When I lived in AZ, I was amazed that the house construction crews started at 4am, but you have to beat the heat somehow. Me, being a night owl, often spent time outside after Sunset, but there was still a lot of residual heat from the Sun baking everything. I am amazed by this family, working around that hot metal container during the day in the heat of May! ❤❤❤

I get exhausted just watching. 65 years old here in New Zealand. The other day I started at a farm at 7am, teat blocking, then 2 cattle shifts of 20 kms each finishing at 5.30pm. I jump out of the vehicle and shut all the property gates along the roads. I slept 9 1/2 hours that night. Still recovering lol. Feels good though, doesn’t it. Keep up the great work guys. 🇳🇿

This has been a really enjoyable series. The project really came together nicely - excellent color choice. Adelaide's (sp?) design was great. It's very nice to see all the kids happily helping bring the idea to life. Thanks for sharing this. PS: More baby goats. LOL

Shipping containers are made from corten steel. Rust doesn't affect them.

As parents you both are doing an awesome job, not only are you working together to make a home for your family, you are teaching 😀 them your children life and good health🪥🧼🧽, they are learning their education as well as survival. "There's Always a Big But," new shirt!? "Butt Crack of Dawn," too! It looks great all scrubbed up. It'll paint up beautiful! I'm so glad to hear that you're using a sprayer to paint it. I love the color! It looks fantastic! Yay, putting the rafters back up and locking them down to the LVL with Simpson Strong Ties! It looks so solid! I was happy to see that the talk at the Conference went well. Jett Driver! I'm glad Adali had the chalk marker. Those lines would be impossible to see when you were cutting! Ada did a great job painting the ends of the rafters after they were cut. Yay, putting on the facia at the end of the rafters. Yay, first row of roof decking up. Too bad about the warped rafters. That was a long haul for you all but it looks amazing! Thanks for this video Longnecker family!

Blocking in between the rafters would have pulled the rafter straight and provided additional strength.

Nice part about the under side being white is it will reflect the light better during the Winter. You know when it feels like it is Dark at 2 pm in the afternoon. Ok I know it stays light till 4pm.😄😄🌕 Looking good guys.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🐐🐐

Automatic gates… max and occy on YT put in a solar one for a massive heavy wood and metal frame one. A small one for a gate might not be too difficult. Looking lovely for those sweet lil goats! 💚🖤💚

Wow! What a difference that’s made with the paint,and the rafters all done .The painted underside of the boards has helped to keep it light underneath the awning too.Will you cover the top with that tarmac stuff like you put on sheds to make it waterproof?.I can’t get over how smart this is looking now.Its Smashing and worth all the hard work.Well done all of you..Sending love to you all 🥰

Thanks! We're still about halfway through the roof. Will be finishing like our other roofs here with underlayment, metal roofing, gutters to catch water, and 3000w of solar panels rack mounted to the top.

Remember that the "Corten" steel" is designed to be rusty. There is a Corten steel bridge structure near my city that has had all the paint stripped and left to rust as a design feature. The paint job looks great.

The corrugated wall panels, frame, cargo doors, and cross members of metal shipping containers are all made from corten steel. This special type of steel, also known as weathering steel, is the primary material in shipping containers. What's special about weathering steel? Weathering steel, often called COR-TEN or corten steel, is a group of steel alloys which were developed to eliminate the need for painting, and form a stable rust-like appearance after several years' exposure to weather. So, it gets a coating of rust and then stops. At that point, the paint is more decorative than necessary for protection. Just sayin. . .

It all looks great! I had that pressed wood crumble on me in Cali when I used it on my shed. My advice, protect it, paint it, it will last longer, mine only lasted like 5 years. the desert weather is so unforgiving. I love the colors you chose!, The more shade the better!

Jonathan and Ashley, I was noticing on the roof, when it would 🌧 rain it would drain into the yard, should put a gutter along the roof so the would drain into a barrel. Not make the yard MUDDY 😮😮 GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

bonjour la famille how are you all doing of late ? so i'm in the south of France again and constructing a wooden scaffolding. yikes, i have no time for the internet or myself. measuring, measuring and assembling oh my ! what a joy to see you all again working and smiling. Ladies Adalai and Ada are true champions of the outdoors. the closing shot of the two people atop the container in silhoutte spoke to me. there's always beauty at the end of the day and after having worked hard all day too. 'But' let us not forget, you've got it made in the 'shade !'
