We don't usually have many worm issues with them here in the Gulf, but in the Atlantic and Pacific they usually have lots. I couldn't tell you why, but that's what I've seen and heard. Like Nate said, you can just cut them out or even eat them. They're harmless, just not very appetizing.

I know I'm not Mr. Southern Salt himself, but I think I can help you out a little. There are two main styles of jigging, speed jigging and slow-pitch. Speed jigs are typically narrow and you work them fast on a stiffer rod with a heavier jack. They're really effective for jacks, kings, tuna, cobia, and other faster pelagics. Slow pitch jigging, like Nate was doing here, is a little different technique. It uses flatter jigs that fall slower and can work a wide water column even if you're in one place. It also catches pelagics, but really shines with the other bottom fish like grouper, snapper, triggers, etc. Slow pitch rods are extreme light with a slower action to give the jig a lot of movement and you usually use much lighter braid (15-30lb) with them to keep your jigs vertical. The Daiwa Lexa 400 is the perfect reel. Most any custom builder can build you a good one, just be aware they are on the pricier side compared to other rods. A few companies (penn., shimano, tfo, etc..) do have good production models as well. I don't know where you're located, but Sam's Stop'n'Shop over in Orange Beach usually has a great selection and the guys over there can help get you set up. Hopefully this helps you out!
