To fix the mentality at Spurs requires not caring about the banter of Gooners. The run in was always going to be tough this season and anyone who isn't proud of the boys for improving massively over last season needs to have their head examined. The future is bright, but it will take 2-3 more windows to get a squad that can compete on multiple fronts. I support Spurs, Ange and the project.

@GogoVictoria
@GogoVictoria 17 күн бұрын
This is basically the kernel of the issue for me. Regardless of the split in attitude of the fans, it won't ultimately affect the results. The team organisation, mentality, and tactics will win games. We have ended up in a much better position than I would have expected at the start of the season but if we'd turned up against Fulham, Newcastle, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea in the latter stages of the campaign we would have secured fourth or third long before yesterday. Also, my only other issue is with Ange's approach to the fans. When we were flying high, his position was that the fans are entitled to their feelings and thoughts on the club and team. We were all dreaming we might actually finish top after those first 10 games. By the same token, you can't castigate fans for wanting to put one over on their most bitter rival in a match that just happend to have a double jeopardy. Still love Ange so far though, but he's dreaming if he thinks that a hundred years of rivalry won't be ingrained in the passion of the fans.

As a neutral I got concerned yesterday ... Are you not demanding a winning culture in the club or is that just something others (owner, manager, players) are responsible for? I found it very, very weird and hard to understand ... Personally, I understand why Ange got upset yesterday and I wouldn't be surprised if he had a thought or two about leaving the club.

I don't think Ange would consider leaving due to the attitude of a minority of the fans, he may choose to leave if he is not given a decent war chest to fund players over the next 2/3 transfer windows. Last night's formation and tactics were interesting and and hopefully will be tweaked and refined during the close season. As for wanting us to lose just to spite Arsenal is immature, I always want Spurs to win, I never wanted Arsenal to win the league but I wanted us to batter MC last night. And Ben, Spurs didn't stop Arsenal winning the league, there's still Sunday's fixtures left to go, how are you going to feel if West Ham pull off a smash and grab at the Etihad ? I hope it doesn't go like that but all I really care about is beating the Blades. COYS

There is no "ingrained hatred for Arsenal" in me, and have been going to Spurs since 1996. 20% chance of qualifying for CL was worth winning for. It was an interesting game to watch. I didn’t feel like we had any kind of threat. No Richie and no Werner really stung us. Defensively I knew we’d struggle as Porro is terrible at defending. It shows Hojberg Should start ahead of Bissouma every time. Johnson was a huge disappointment but also exciting at the same time. So glad we had the energy of Sarr he was great I was cheering him on despite knowing he hardly makes any impact in an offensive position. To be honest with Sarr as the false nine really hurt us offensively. But if he keeps it up and with more time Sarr will be a super star or Super Sarr for us I was really happy with the team. I hated us losing and then loved that the result effects the Scum. It was a very strange gam. Btw that wasn’t a yellow card for Romero. The goalie clatters into Romero.

The notion that Ange hasn't made any changes throughout the season, or that he only made changes vs. City simply doesn't reflect reality. He didn't really change the system, he changed who played and where they played in that system. He has done this consistently throughout the season, typically in response to injuries/suspensions, poor performances, or to give fringe players a chance. Ignoring, or actively denying that this has happened throughout the season seems to stem from a frustration that we could not finish higher than 5th or win a trophy. I get it, but its wrong. I also think that Ange probably feels a bit more freedom to experiment now that the table is close to set. Not sure fans would be so impressed at a 0-2 loss earlier in the season.

Let me preface my comments with this. Although I lived in London for several years have supported Tottenham for 35, I cannot say that I fully appreciate the tribalism between the various fanbases and I am probably more stoical by nature. In view of this, I will not comment on whether fans should or should not root against their own team. However, to suggest and advocate that we should commission a mural to celebrate Heung Min's uncharacteristic miss reflects the "Spursy" mentality that other fans deride us for. Whether we like it or not, Arsenal have been significantly more successful in the last 30/35 years. When we won the FA Cup in 1991, it was our 8th FA Cup victory and the most won by any club at that point in time. Since 1991, we have won none and Arsenal eight. We will not see Spurs overtake Arsenal in terms of honours in the next 30 years at least. The difference is the number of honours between the two teams is veritable and, although my prognosis on the medium term future is simply my opinion, to suggest that we should immortalise a star player for missing a gilt-edge chance reflects the overwhelming insecurity that the fans have. Son has scored 160 goals for Tottenham and 120 in the premier league. He is the 22nd highest PL scorer of all time and will break the top twenty soon. To champion (irony intended) that Son should get a mural because he missed a chance is simply absurd and shows how deeply the Spursy mentality is ingrained in our psyche.

I think Ange saying that the foundations of the club are fragile everywhere is absolute rubbish. If things are fragile everywhere then Ange should look at himself. After the initial 10 game run Ange has been insistent on playing his football even when we had all those injuries and suspensions it was the so called 2nd tier players like Davies and Royale who got us through many a tricky period. He didn't do them any favours by not adjusting his bloody - minded match set-up, leaving gaping holes at the back. We then waited patiently for our first team to heal and get back. Then everything was going to be alright. He got his favourites /prefered's back, but what happened, bugger all. In fact they played like shit. Apart from some individual brilliance there was no cohesion or anything resembling what the first 10 games showed us. Yet he still refused to help get results by setting up still with gaping holes at the back and saying all results were on him, and top 4 didn't matter, whilst we got smashed losing 4 games an a row. Now all of a sudden results do matter because he was being out coached by Pep. So it's nothing to do with his crap management, but the problems are systemic throughout the club. Throw the players and the fans under the bus. Ange is a bit slow on the uptake for me. Easy to be a hypocrite isn't it. Our forward line isn't working because he squeezes them up so tight, that they have nowhere to create. They have to play frantically, snatching at anything that comes their way. Also playing the daft halfway line defence is suicide. Ceding all the space to the opposition attackers. If it wasn't for our brilliant start and VDV. Cuti, and Vicario we would have been fighting off relegation. If ange was a good manager, using our player's strengths, and considering what the opposition's bring to the table we would have made top 4 easy. Never mind our now ridiculous goal difference. Look what Poch. is starting to do at Chelsea. Now there is a proper manager. COYS.

He lost 5 of the last 6, some to our biggest rivals and in a heavy manner. Let us all be serious guys, if any of the fans was concerned what will happen to arsenal if we won the game then we are never winning anything. Any Tottenham supporter should know that we can only wish to achieve what arsenal has achieved over the years, we can only wish to be where arsenal are if this is the mentality that we have as fans. Let us never sit down and blame the coach nor the players for not achieving success, Tottenham fans are part of the blame as well
