On this weeks outdoors adventure we went wild camping to Cadair Idris in Snowdonia and stayed next to Llyn Cau for the night. I cooked up a fillet steak and chips(!) and enjoyed some first rate ales.
We had some neighbours which pitched incredibly close to us despite masses of other great spots around. But we didn't let it hold us back and partied until 11:30.
Before the rest of the world woke up we were climbing up Craig Cau and then onwards towards Penygadair (893m). We hiked the whole length of the ridge which took around three and a half hours to complete and get back to the car park.
It was a really tough walk, the terrain is incredibly steep around this area but it's definitely worthwhile!

Cracking place, have spent many a happy weekend up there with my son. But your right a proper lung buster , but worth it. I've always been lucky and not had any hassel with squatter's. An excellent choice of venue, keep an eye open for the low level fighters too. Another good vid bud keep them coming.

It was beautiful. First time for me staying there but I've been to the peak lots of times. I'd like to go back to the mach loop sometime and find a good spot for seeing them!

Top of the world...for sure! Views that many spend a lot of money to see...such a great trek! Such a magnificent and magical place! Really enjoyed this video, such a beautiful hike! I've been disappointed a few times when you think you have a place to yourself and someone rocks up. Sometimes it can't be helped I suppose, but if it was me turning up, I would definitely try to stay out of view or introduce myself to break the ice. Cracking video anyway! Take care, Paul.

Beautiful place Adam, one of my favourites. The spot that you said was sheer is the shortcut up to the saddle - it's advised to only ascend this path and not to go down it, I hadn't heard before I went and it was a bit hairy going down it. You should've tied those guy's door zips together in the night 🤣

I've probably climbed Penygadair more than any other mountain but you forget how hard it is each time 😅 I didnt like the looks of that shortcut! I think those guys were in a bit of a mood because we'd been noisy lol

Beautiful spot. Can I ask how you avoided midges? I camped in over Llyn Ogwen this weekend and got attacked every time I left the tent after sun down. Same thing happened to me and my wife a year prior in the Rhinog mountains. Any advice?

I've had two trips with lots of midges both being in wind free valleys. I didn't get any near the beach or in this video because we were up so high and it was breezy. I've got some "skin so soft" to try next time im in a valley

Yes we did use the car park although we couldn't fill the meter more than midnight which was annoying

I feel annoyed for you that them others decided to camp right beside you!! Looks like good times were had all the same. Can I ask, did you use the Dol Idris car park? If so, what's the max time youre allowed to park there? Cheers.

It was pretty annoying but we tried to forget they were there. The car park only let's you get a ticket up until midnight which is a bit dodgy 😬

That's so stupid trying to censor a real review of a product, how can you review it if you're not allowed to say anything bad about it! If I ever get my channel big enough to get free stuff I'd do the same, gotta be honest to yourself and your subs. Nice one for showing your integrity Adam! How did you find the hike up to the lake? tough going with all the gear isn't it. Really enjoyed this one mate. And you're totally correct in the fact we all must take a bloody good selection of beers with us on a camp!

That's true and once you are seen to be dishonest nobodies going to trust you again! The hike was really tough & super steep the load was lightened a bit for the summit but still hard going. Cheers 😊👊
