Hi Helen, Dave, I so agree with so many of your points of view. With regard to good sites in Dorset, Back of Beyond @ Ringwood or Old Oaks @ Glastonbury, both are private sites, but well worth a visit. With reference to May the Burford Site is ideal for RAF Brize Norton and the USAF Base at Fairford, both are within a few miles of the CCMH Club site. Stay safe & well both.

I am watching for the first time since the last time. Catching up after two weeks on a Donder. Hope they can sort it sooner rather than later. Dave should register as your carer. Having done both I do prefer the motorhome. 27yrs towing and 8 Motorhoming. CAMC site at Grummore is the best in UK.

Hi Dave & Lindsay, thanks as always. I might claim carers but they would need to back date it to 1979 😂. Will checkout Grunmore, never heard of that one TBH. Must say, the way you utilise Desmond is in my opinion how it should be done but for now the caravan works fine for us but ‘never say never’ which we never do. We’ve been a bit radio silent ourselves lately as we seem to be spending most of our time at clinics, doctors and hospitals but will catch up soon. Take care, Helen & Dave 👍

ive booked a week in Concierge camping this summer - a safari tent for my sons family, a lodge ( no sleeping) for my daughters family and an emperor pitch for me. Around the same price as a week as a top centre parcs lodge for us all.

Only down side to stick on mirrors once stuck you cant get them back off if selling it etc without doing damage

Hi Cameron, many thanks indeed for watching and leaving a comment. That might well be the case, we're not too sure but we have had them on for about 6 years now and we have actually taken a few off from when we had put these up originally and they didn't ruin the wall. There was a little residue but it came off easily with some warm soapy water. However, that's not to say that they would all be that easy, we might have just been lucky. We like them though. We haven't stayed at Concierge, but I struggle to believe its any better than Polmanter at St Ives Cornwall. If your heading down Cornwall you must check out Polmanter, but book early as its booked up well in advance.

Hello Dave and Helen, really enjoyed your video on your plans, we like the look of a caravan but the towing side Tony was a little unsure of doing so we decided on a motorhome and with it being only 6 metres we can move it around and park quite easily. The Concierge site sounds very nice, one of our favourite campsites is Eye Kettleby Lakes in Leicestershire, we are off there in May for the 3rd time he he. Hope Helen will be sorted soon it must be horrid for her with the pain. Take care x Julie and Tony x

Motorhome or caravan, doesn't matter, we are all enjoying our adventures and so many fab places to visit in the UK. Concierge is very plush! Eye Kettleby Lakes has been recommended to us so many times, we really need to get there before too long. Happy travels to you both. Helen & Dave

Hi both, so sorry to hear about Helen's joints, sounds awful, not to mention expensive! I'm having to do everything for Sadie ATM with her broken arm but at least that's getting better, not worse. Good to see you're still getting out and about, though. I think we like different types of sites, so I won't recommend any! (less is best for us). We are going to our favourite site again on Monday, then somewhere different at the end of the month. Shouldn't be too long before we're over your way again though. Hi , we went to Sandygulls in Norfolk last October and it was lovely ! Sunny , sea view from our caravan and access down to the sea ! Site very friendly, spotless and walking distance from the pubs / restaurants!

Highly highly recommend old oaks in Glastonbury - adult only - always fully booked so that’s saying something isn’t it 😊great walk directly to the Tor from the site fabulous areas around the site for walks and very dog friendly Hope to see you at Bargoed Farm in May as we are booked there too I know what you mean about the gas smell Helen - we experienced that and we found out it’s the dust burning off the top of the boiler as it’s not used - previous owners never used it - we don’t get it now as we use it often when off grid Recommendation for St Ives in Cornwall - Polmanter - a fabulous five star site which is tiered overlooking the sea absolutely stunning

absolutely agree with you on caravan v motorhome, having done both, the car thing is why we changed back to a caravan, moving every few days was very hard work and now we have the freedom again, and I (Julie) really missed the caravan seems to me they are so much more spacious too. We love to have days out in the car, exploring etc. Shoulder op is booked so I'm hopeful things will be getting back to normal before too long. ATB, Helen & Dave

Good luck with shoulders. I’ve had two knee replacements over 10 years ago and I am about to have the patellas replaced and a general service. I think I’ve waited two months for that after the last meeting with the consultant. I also have a prosthetic elbow and after it had to be repaired. All has gone brilliantly - big shout out to Wales NHS

So sorry to hear about your health Helen, I think it’s time to sell the caravan, get your health back on track, then think about buying a caravan later on. I cannot see the NHS waiting list getting any shorter, if anything it may get longer. Your health is more important. Take care.

Hi Ian, many thanks indeed for your kind words. Fortunately, few won't need to sell the caravan to pay for Helen's op. Helen says she would sell the house first lol. Another great video on my fav caravan channel. Hope your wait for treatment isn't too long Helen. I've recently had knee surgery and the wait was half the original NHS prediction so you just never know. Some great info as usual and a pleasure to watch and digest. Looking forward to the review of the solar panel kit....that'll be more money I'm spending ! 🙄😂 All the best to you both 👍🏽

Hoping you get sorted soon Helen, do not blame you getting away when you can. We have only had a caravan for 18 months, and do enjoy it, we like Eye Kettleby Lakes near to Melton Mowbray, excellent site and facilities especially the Southern site. It is adults only, very clean and tidy all hard standing and most fully serviced. Good clubhouse with entertainment most Saturdays with food available in day time. Nice waks around the site too.

I know how painful that can be.. I needed a knee replacement when I was only 19 but was told I was too young and I was made to wait until I was 45.. When they finally agreed to do it I was told that there was a long wait. So I rang every day to see if they had any cancellations.. I was willing to go in at the drop of a hat.. so in the end the lady in the appointments department used to say hi Janet no cancellations today.. but eventually I got one.. anything worth a try Helen.. I did ok for 15 years!! But 18 months ago I fell and broke my femur.. just above the knee replacement.. it had to be pinned and plated.. at least there wasn’t a waiting list for that! 🤣 Still struggling as the cold weather affects the metal of the pins!! But doing ok.. at least caravan season starts at our seasonal pitch from tomorrow! Yippee!

Wareham Forest Touring Park is fantastic. Direct walks into tbe forest, lovely owners and near Studland beach. Lots of great pubs in Wareham too. We had our first caravan delivered there a year ago and havent been anywhere else - a perfect premier site. We also go regularly to the Tank museum ( good Sunday lunch!) down tbe road.

Hi Richard, many thanks for your kind words, Helen is booked in for shoulder replacement number one in May and has had more injections today to help with the pain. We need to sit down and plan the Cornwall trip so will have a look at Trethem Mill, thanks. We have been to Ely a few times over the years but we have never been in the cathedral, which would be good and weather permitting lunch in a nice pub near the marina would also be nice so thanks for the heads up. Good luck with the shoulder Helen. I suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis and my shoulders were agony. Especially as I’m an Edinburgh Stonemason. I was out my nut on painkillers. 😱😱

I too have RA and just as one set of joints starts to improve, another set start to flare. Helen, I truly hope that your shoulders are sorted ASAP. It's very tiring being in constant pain.😢

I am hoping to be able to get an operation much sooner than 2 years and preferably on the NHS otherwise Dave is going to have to get his hand in the pension pot (which he says he is prepared to do) and we will have to go private. I am getting steroid injections which are helping with the pain relief a bit. Thanks again, Helen & Dave

Hi Helen, it’s so painful. I was lucky enough to get a total left shoulder arthroplasty, 7 years ago on the NHS. 3 days in hospital and it has been great. My right shoulder has never been as painful as the left but movement and strength is affected. Not sure what I will do if it worsens as £20,000 is a ridiculous amount to pay and disgraceful to expect people who have paid NI all their working lives. Some hospitals have shorter waiting lists so might be worth phoning around. Best of luck.

I completely agree with you regarding the NHS and I've paid in for over 40 years and when I need them it's basically tough luck. We think if we were touring the continent much like you regularly do then a motorhome would be the answer but as you say no right or wrong it's down to individuals wants/needs. Hello again, we have yet to take the caravan over to the IOW but we have visited lot's of times. We should really give it a go. Dave's nephew as a holiday park (or two) over there, so we really should make the effort. We both hope Helen and dave hope you make a speedy recovery, my Mrs has almost exactly the same problem in her left shoulder , she can still drive at the moment!. I'm going to do all the caravan towing in the near future . Julie (ju) also has ra which is a destroyer of joints and ligaments. She's suffered for over 25 years . Hi dave ,Helen and Bella, have a look at wysdom touring Park at burford ,set in lovely gardens ,adult only £20.00a night about 2 miles from the club site ,less than 10 mins wLk into the beautiful village of burford ,you will love it and the wardens are brilliant, highly recommend ,we love it .hope you get your shoulder sorted soon 😊

Hi again. Hope you get your shoulder sorted soon Helen, hats off to you for continuing to enjoy caravan adventures despite the pain and restrictions your condition causes. As an aviation enthusiast have you stayed at Woodhall Spa near us? There are several sites but recommend Woodhall Country Park and nearby Village Limits Pub. The Dambusters were based in nearby Petwood Hotel ( bouncing bomb in grounds too) and their memorial is in the village. Nearby RAF Coningsby home of the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and also Typhoons so well worth a visit.

Hello again, we know the area well and have done a couple of videos from Conningsby. We stayed at a Camping & Caravan site near there quite a while back and have also stayed at Tattershall & Dakota Park. We have had lunch in The Pentwood Hotel and Dave also met Johnny Johnson at Pentwood, now sadly no longer with us. We have not stayed at the sites you have mentioned though and we want to get back to Conningsby before too long so we will deffo check these sites out. Hi Helen and Dave, we’ve just subscribed to your channel today, after watching a hints and tips vid you did. Love the idea of a bit of plastic pipe instead of a tube to fill the water container. The wife and me have just got back into caravanning after many years,(I’m retired now), and have a pitch in Cornwall on Quarryfield site in Crantock, well from March 23rd. We’ve been on Quarryfield site quite a few times, love it on there, can’t get a bit windy at times, it’s really nice to be able to see and hear the ocean, if your positioned right. We’re both really excited to be able to stay there for as long as the mood takes us, within the season that is. We’ve still got things to buy, like battery, waste master, aqua roll, oh, and a piece of plastic pipe😁. Also not been called feeble before, nickname is Weeble, (real name Phil), 😂

Fascinating stuff guys. Really hope that Helen’s shoulders get fixed as soon as possible and that it resolves the problems. It really does sound grim 😨 We’ve now been to quite a few CAMC club sites and the reception that you get is very mixed. Bordering rude up to very friendly and helpful. We do prefer the CL’s We just got back from a trip to the South West - Lincoln Farm Park in Standlake Oxon is outstanding. Highly recommended And in Devon we stayed at Beverley Holiday Park - if you can get a pitch overlooking Torbay it is mind blowing. Anyway safe travels you two. Hope it all works out. 👍👍👍

Best of luck with the surgery, Helen, agree that horses can take their toll on you for all kinds of tesons, back breaking stable and field stuff and falls, our daughter has been badly injured in the past, but hey, I had a few motorcycle falls, one was a biggy, so get the aches and pains too. We too like Seacroft and are off to Foxhills shortly. As for powering the fridge, I did a test with my Ecoflow Delta last week and found that the draw is almost a continuous 300 watts and so drained the 2Kw available in less than 7 hours. With a good bit of sun you may be OK with 2 solar panels. We are looking at more non EHU and have fitted a Fogstar 105ah lithium battery which doubles the power available, also fitting the 175w solar panel I have had for a while when it warms up outside. Hi Mel & Lydia, yes I'm sure a lot of Helen's trouble stems back to many years of having horses. We like Foxhills too and might slot that one in somewhere during the course of the year. I did plug the power bank in and powered the fridge and it was drawing about 230 watts and might only last overnight. Not yet sure how effective the two x 200w solar panels will be but it's good to have a back up with gas, so we'll give it a good test at some point (when the sun shines). Be interested to know how you get on with the new battery. Thanks as always, Helen & Dave

Oh it’s the Stamford camc one, don’t know why it’s called Stamford as to me it’s not in Stamford. It’s Fine shade Woods on the A43 Corby Road. Just my opinion thoug regarding CL’s , most of them really don’t care when you arrive or leave. I complained about the 1 ‘o’clock rule on my feedback for the way over priced Sandringham one saying virtually word for word what you said. Made me smile anyway as you were talking.😆

A site on the Dorset/New Forest border we can highly recommend is Hill Cottage Farm. It's a fantastic well run spotless site, the staff are very friendly, pitches and facilities are amazing. Dog friendly. There's lovely walks on site. Good base camp for visiting Bournemouth etc. New Forest on the door step. We've been there for holidays and short visits and we'll be back. Highly recommended. Well worth a visit once Helen is up to strength 😊. Take care, roll on next Thursday at 4.30 😁

I have used pretty much everything. Most doesn't do a thing [for me], or seems to help a little for a while, but that seems very short lived too. There are many good supplements, it is trial and error. I do have to take regular painkillers now. I have 3 or 4 massages a month, and I listen to my body more than I ever used to! I left a long reply, that has now vanished!!! I have tried many things, probably most, sadly they don't work for me, one or two were ok, but short lived in any relief. I now take painkillers from doc every day, 3 or 4 massages a month, and tend to listen more to my body. x@@HelenandDave

@Helen, whilst I'm relieved to hear that your health issue has been identified and that there is treatment, I am dismayed to hear that you would have to wait at least 2 years for treatment on the NHS. That is a long time to be living with pain and incredible inconvenience. Whilst expensive, I hope that your surgery will be a success and that you will make a full recovery.

It really is a sad state of affairs that I have to wait so long on the NHS and I really couldn't stand the pain for the length of time so it seems private is the only option. Aw Helen I’m so sorry that you’re‘afflicted’ with this terrible problem within your shoulders,, it must be very difficult for you to say the least. It’s ridiculous that you’d have to wait all that time for surgery though. Please look into going private abroad, I used to be married to a Turkish man and their private health care is excellent ( far superior to ours) I agree Helen, that’s the same conclusion I’ve come to re caravan versus motor home. I feel that a caravan is the better option for me!! Xx

Hi Enzo, how strange! recorded in the usual way but out of the 4k views we've had this evening one other viewer has said the same (two of you) We've played it on our TV, Laptop, iPad and phone and we can't notice any issues. Hi Michael, no we haven't set up a buy me a coffee account, but subs can buy super thanks etc but actually KZfaq do take a large percentage of any cash donated through the channel (I think it's around 30p in the pound) so we don't actively push it. Dont start me on NHS waiting lists! ... I was supposed to have urgent spine surgery 7 months ago after being messed around for 12 months. Finally have an appointment for another consultation this Saturday. Luckily I'm loads better 💪 but the wait has caused some permanent nerve damage to my left leg & foot ... At least Helen now has an answer and if you can pay its well worth it to get out of pain and better quality of life. But it's totally wrong 😠 ... Looking forward to your future videos and we may even bump into you down Cornwall 🌊🩴🏖️👍😉😂 Regards your gas smell ... I could always smell a gas like smell everytime I opened the gas locker. It was alwas checked on servicing but no gas leak was ever found. Eventually I changed the Truma regulator pigtail and the smell totally disappeared. It must have been the pungent smell of the pipe rubber compound, even though it wasn't due to be changed. 🤔

Thanks Gary, it's very frustrating when you've paid into the system all of your life and then when you need some payback it's just not there (or at least not when you want/need it). Sorry to hear of your own health troubles but glad you are a lot better than you were. Yes, we are hoping to get to Cornwall this time, been many times in the past but without our caravan.
