It is nice to see all of these hands on Fathers. Seems like the KZfaq Homestead community in Oklahoma raise'em that way ! We need that nation-wide ! Scratch that... World-wide.

@@mpedmar9701 you know, I'm 72 yrs old, my dad was an Oklahoma cotton farmer in the early 50's. We pretty much had free run of our farm..our shared old horse, our collie and all the boy cousins I ran with. But I knew, it was my dad who kept that tight eye on me! Taught me how to drive a Ford cub tractor by age 7, moved it from one farm to another, with him following me in his truck! Oklahoma daddy's (or at least mine did) have kept close eyes on their kids. That don't mean they are not tight with their kids...but mine almost always (especially with their daughters) knew where they were and that they minded. Yes, we need those 2 parent, involved families again. By today's standards, we would have been eligible for govt programs....BUT my dad worked from sun up to sundown and many times harvested and ran a bulldozer into the night on a 2nd job all in Oklahoma's sun, heat...complete with squaw line winds that would lay crops down with their winds and tornadoes that could and often did wipe out a whole yr on the farm. We would take him a hot meal on a tray to the field just before our bedtime. ! Such memories this brought back! But I still love my OK roots!

It will be so nice to see you on your new property full time and it will be easier to get things done. Love that your fence for the pigs is 95 percent done. You need a perimeter fence around the property & start on the side with the shady neighbors.
@rebeccaplumlee9601
@rebeccaplumlee9601 3 жыл бұрын
The expense would b prohibitive. Theres already a small portion in the pig pen. It's a darn shame, but it truly would help with not just the shady "side", it could help if someone accidentally wanders over the property line & got hurt
@larryparish5984
@larryparish5984 3 жыл бұрын
@@rebeccaplumlee9601 wouldn't be that prohibitive if they did 1-2 rolls per month or barbed wire. Doesn't need to do it all at once, just a little at a time & eventually it will be completed. But just waiting until they can afford to do it all, could take quite a while.

I really love how the entire family including extended family is helping in all this. That's the way it used to be before everyone got so separated across the country. I really think that makes for a stronger family network and that we all should get back to that. We have the issue with fiber optic is that it ends like 10 miles down the road from us so we have to count on other means like wifi to try and get a connection. So you guys really lucked out on that, fantastic!! And never let the small things get you down like that fence, just expect it cause things like that always happen, it's what keeps the journey so exciting lol. I know it's always something like that around here even though we only have five acres to work with. You guys are making some great memories and you are setting your girls up for success by teaching them to be self-reliant. That's such a valuable lesson that will serve them well in their futures.
