Palhinha absolutely dominated us in the 3-0 game. With the way he physically imposes himself, he doesn't need the best possession or attacking stats. If we want someone who's primary job is to protect that back 4 and give the team the platform to play, there are few better. Though i like the idea of someone who can do a bit of everything - I do feel we really need a physically dominant beast in there to boss games.

Biss is perfect against teams that press us, butvnot so good against low block teams who counter us. Think we need a player who is good against defending counter attacks. Think Onana would work well, covers a lot of ground, great tackler

Ugarte is very good but it's interesting that Amorim replaced him with a 6ft DM who was also good at progressing the ball. Btw It's Sporting CP or just Sporting, no Lisbon in the name. Interesting you mentioned Luis and not João Neves who I saw twice in the stadium this year and although Sporting won those matches,he was excellent, outstanding even. He's definitely the one to go for.

We need a struker first and foremost. I agree wholeheartedly that we need a number 6, but Bissouma playing at his best is as good as almost anyone we could get, whereas we dont have a top striker. Bergvall will be a great addition when he arrives, im sure, but there are certainly positions that still need reinforcements. Certainly at left and right back cover is a must. I think we have cb cover in our youths and places for a few more of them on the bench.

I think we need 2 CDM's not one DM and for me out of those Ederson and Ugarte would give the kind of balance between providing the defensive coverage and forward passing and movement that would make the midfield really work well protecting the a CB's and being the launching pad to get the ball moving forward and allowing the full backs to be the added am's without the need to be running back to cover the defensive needss (which frankly they fail to do for the most part) Of course buying both would dent the budget but I hear Ugarte might be loaned which makes him a favourable addition along with the strength of his tackling I actually wouldn't be unhappy with a couple of young championship players Gray and Hackney both look real prospects, both look very complete in their midfield qualities, obviously unproven in the PL but you only have to look at how well Wharton has done stepping up that if you have the talent and the desire you can do a good job

Out of all of these Palacios is probably the best choice but it will be extremely hard to get him especially with Alonso staying at Leverkusen. Personally Ugarte is the one I'd go for. He is only 23 & is a quality CDM.

Ederson is not for sale. Koopmeiners is Liverpool's top target and he already expressed his desire to leave. Atalanta won't be selling their two CM in the same transfer window.

And another thing that makes this kind of a weird solution is that Ederson isn't a six.... He has more or less always been an 8 or a 10. His position at Atalanta is an 8, if anyone takes up the deeper role it will be either Koopmeiners or De Roon when he's playing. In De Roon's absence it was Djimsiti's role to be CB/6. Maestro doesn't believe in a straight 6, he wants his players to be prepare to solve different positions.
