Taken today. This is a brand new installation that replaced an MXL system in a school. Acceptance testing was done this past week and today was the formal inspection. The MXL system had horn/strobes and they were replaced with Siemens SL2 series LED speaker/strobes (SET-WP speaker/strobes outside), which the staff at the school was very grateful for. Note the unusual evacuation tone and the strangely-pitched voice message. Around the 2:30 mark you can also see what remains of an RCC-1F annunciator. There used to be 5 annunciators in this building, but now only 2 exist (it was requested that the number of annunciators be reduced). Needless to say, everything passed with this inspection and the new system is ready just in time for the new school year.

Never heard a voice evac system do a 1.4 Khz tone before. For example the EST Massachusetts voice evac tone is 1.2 Khz which is 200 Hz higher or 1.1667 times higher

These seem to be rebranded Wheelock. I also notice some are noticeably brighter than others noticing the flash on camera. I feel like some are 15CD possibly 30 and others are as bright as 75 or 110

IMHO, I wish siemens would break free of Wheelock and make their own devices. That would be awesome to see what they'd come up with. I really loved the Faraday Siemens devices. Also, very odd tone and message. Is that new to Siemens?

Very weird tone & message indeed, wonder why they chose them (especially since a whoop or temporal 3 tone is much more common. At least they made sure to get rid of the "Do not use the elevators" portion, since most schools don't have elevators (moreso if they're only one-story of course). I'm also confused about the fact that the notification appliances are clearly Siemens-rebranded LED3-series devices even though the LED3-series was replaced by the Eluxa-series a few years ago (darn you Eaton: the LED3-series was just fine you know!): does that means that Wheelock is continuing to manufacture the LED3-series exclusively for Siemens much like they have been with the ZNS & ZRS-serieses? Nice to see everything synced together though! (as well as the excellently-designed strobes the LED3-series devices have, compared to those on their ugly-as-heck Eluxa counterparts) What's with the seemingly multitude of detectors in each room? Clever how there are both wall *&* ceiling-mount devices in the same areas for maximum audible & visual coverage. 2:36 Weird place for an annunciator if you ask me (shame it wasn't completely removed though). 5:01 Wonder who screwed up the placement of the "SIEMENS" sticker on that device...

What do you mean "multitude of detectors in each room?"

@@weatherdan882002 By that I mean the fact that a lot of rooms seem to have at least *3* detectors in them, for instance at 3:26.

@@TheCarson116 In that particular case, one's just a motion sensor for the lights, one is a smoke detector, and one is a multi-criteria detector (Heat/CO).

@@weatherdan882002 Yeah, noticed the one was an occupancy sensor, & I figured one of the actual detectors was a multi-criteria one. Thanks for clarifying! (though is there a reason not all rooms seemingly have one?)

@@TheCarson116 That particular classroom is a science/chemistry classroom and the use of bunsen burners could produce a CO risk. The setup is a bit strange because those multi-criteria detectors have smoke, heat, and CO sensors in them (they don't make standalone CO or heat/CO combo heads), so there isn't a need for a separate detector just for smoke, plus , you'd think there wouldn't be a smoke detector in a chemistry classroom where experiments can produce smoke and cause a false alarm.

That high pitched sound for the voice evac is kinda annoying, also the panels piezo sounds like a really scratchy firelite piezo

It's not actually scratchy, these panels have multiple piezos that go at the same time

It would be a lot better if they changed the tone to a 900 Hz code-3 voice evac tone instead of this short continuous 1.4 Khz tone as all Siemens systems can do a code-3 900 Hz tone
