I make my own rust powder (iron oxide). I put 3 or 4 rolls of steel wool in a quart jar and fill it up with vinegar, put it in the window and wait a couple of months. After I get a rusty mess, I pour it into a 11x14 stainless photo processing tray (you could us a flat baking dish) and wait a couple of weeks for it to dry. Then I pulverize the iron oxide into a powder using a single edge razor blade, then store it in a snuff tin. Looks like real rust 'cause it is real rust! Sometimes I gouge the side of a piece of rolling stock and fill 'er up with my rust and sometimes I make a slurry of rust powder, water soluble glycerin and some alcohol. Then you can paint it on the sides or dab with a sponge. After weathering I give it a topcoat of dull coat. Cheers from eastern Tennessee

Real rust I thought it was going to be old rusty tin cans , I had an old incinerator in the garden turn into a pile of rust , so now a huge bag of rust. Maybe I should put it on that selling site 😉 regards Fred

Looks good, man. :) Deluxe seem to make some good products. I use their Track Magic to clean loco pickups and metal wheels. I used to use it for cleaning track, but it damages the sleepers.
