In the summer of 2021, I challenged myself to weave a length of fabric using only one cone of yarn, which meant that I had to get creative!

The fabric would make a gorgeous table runner. If you put it over a white or cream tablecloth it would really show off the little lacy spots you created.

My jaw dropped when you made the art yarn, I'm so sold on Saori looms now after watching your videos. The finished fabric is so interesting!

If you have the space, you could make it a room divider, or hang it as an art piece, with lighting from the back.

I think it would make a great lamp shade. The light shinning through would look really neat.

Love the effect that the single random Brooke's Bouquet has on the piece, rather than the usual complete rows. You've inspired me to try this too!

Wow!!! I JUST yesterday made friends with my Harrisville Designs 8 harness loom. However I could do two harnesses no problem. Your fabric turned out beautifully and I love the art yarn random feature 😉

Love this fabric. If window curtains are out what about a door curtain? I believe the Japanese call them Noren.

A whole video of weaving!! They are my favorite, although I just came home with some new paint, brushes and watercolor/multimedia paper and "The Urban Sketchbook" .... this country girl has been fascinated by your NYC school videos too. The fabric will tell you what it could be. It sure does look great with the light coming through it.

I just found your channel, because I was looking to see, if someone could use hand-woven fabric for clothes realistically. I had so far only seen woven fabrics that were really chunky and only small samples. So I am very fascinated with your work and have watched a lot of videos in the past few days. I really like the clothes you sew and even if it's nothing for me to buy now, maybe one day I'll have the courage, time and money to do the same and make my own fabric.

This is great! I'm working on a "random bs" fabric right now to use up a warp that was left on a loom I'm borrowing from the local weaver's guild (figured it'd be a waste to just cut it off). This video's given me some fun ideas!

your fabric is awesome! the random lace treatments appeared to be butterflies and the art yarn a series of chrysalis. you could try a fabric screen, a small one hung from the ceiling in front of your window, or a larger size as a room divider…

Nice filmmaking here, a pleasure to watch! And that Saori loom looks so comfortable. people often talk about raddles but I don't think I've seen one actually used or heard the need of it explained. It's so you don't need to hold the warp on the palm while threading, right?
@AndreaAlexander
@AndreaAlexander 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! 😊💕 The raddle is to help spread out the warp threads across the back beam while threading. I still hold the warp threads/cross in my palm to distribute them across the raddle.

Ok. I’m confused about the warping technique you are using. It LOOKS like you slipped the cross end in the back beam rod, but then you have the cross in your hand. What am I missing? Will you ever do a video on this technique, alone? It is intriguing.
@AndreaAlexander
@AndreaAlexander Жыл бұрын
Yes! If you pause the video around 1:47, I slip the cross end in the back beam rod, then carry the warp upward so the cross (which I tied with the black shoelaces) is at the level of my raddle. But instead of carrying it straight upward, which is what I showed in that shot, actually passed the warp between the harnesses and the raddle, which is how it's positioned in the next shot (1:50). That way when I hold the cross, the cross is hovering perfectly over the raddle. I'm sorry this is a little confusing - I haven't made a video specifically about this technique because I learned it directly from Kenzo Jo at Saorinomori in Japan and I don't want to infringe on his teachings by explicitly sharing them online 🥺 That's why I've been kind of dancing around this technique on my channel 😅 I'm sorry again for the confusion - let me know if there is anything else I can help clarify!

@@AndreaAlexander oooh! Thank you for this clarification! I understand, I have a Saori now and luckily have my Sensei very close by so I will ask her when the time is right.
