The setting up sounds overwhelming but the more I watch, the more I realize how much fun this could be. I'm becoming enamored with yarn crafts. Crocheting was first, then I wanted to start looming but that wasn't much of my thing, now I'm learning to knit which I love. Hopefully I can try this someday.

crocheting was definitely the best choice to start with, as its the most forgiving. I've done knitting, crocheting, weaving/looming, sewing and felting and it's honestly so amazing to see your own ideas and crafts come to life with your own hands...

im happy to see this because here in indonesia, young people right now didnt really know how to weave or we called it "tenun", maybe because it used to be so big and heavy and traditional and difficult and so traditional (old culture). but i see that the basic is actually really simple and easy and make me want to tenun my own scarf. if you are curious about indonesian waeving, just googling Indonesian tenun :D . Thankyou for sharing this and sorry for my bad english.

I'm from the south. My poor ancestors made their own clothing this very way. They cherished pieces of manufactured cloth so much that they saved bags of scraps from which to make quilts. I always wondered what it would be like to make clothing from cotton I had grown myself. You answered that question. Thank you!

Thankyou so much. After watching "many" videos on how to warp a loom with a heddle bar. Your's is the first that made sense, had clear instructions that I could follow, no distracting music or words written on the screen to try and read and watch what you are doing at the same time. Most importantly I could see what you where doing. After many failed attempts I was about to give up, just from pure frustration then I found your video. I can't thankyou enough. 😊🌻

I love to learn .. I made my own loom from a old patio table so I started looking for lap loom ideas... then came across this beautiful little 10 inch rigid heddle weaving loom and i was like hooked. So.. I kept watching a learning and at the same time saving to buy this one The Ashford Samplelt Rigid Heddle 10 inch weaving loom. Today after 3 months of saving $$ I found this one on Esty.. and I purchased it today...free shipping and no taxes.. I am so excited to start a new venture in rigid heddle loom.. weaving..later i can purchase a stand and a extra heddle.. I also purchase a book that has lots of ideas on rigid heddle looming weaving patterns. The price is amazingly low.. I know how expensive a large Rigid Heddle Loom can cost... but for starters this has lot for the price and that is just fine for me.

Thank you, Kate. You answered a few questions. Perhaps Ashford could consider mfg a hinged-top style of rigid heddle, to eliminate the cutting and threading in dress the loom. Project fiber end-waste (when not tasseled) can add up. The heddle top-bar could be hinged at one end (mine is wing-nut), and all tines are open-slot from usual bottom or half measure, but all the way to the top, where a fine guage polymer cross-x in the heddle's tine tops (as in easy-thread needles) would easily hold sleyed heddle fibers in position, till the fully dressed heddle's top-bar would again secured for weaving position. It would certainly also ease warp color changes and unexpected fiber flaws or breaks. It's great spending less time sleying and more time weaving. Thanks.

Oooohh!! This has only increased my interest in weaving with a loom. Some people here talked about the cost of the loom, but when you think about it, it's just the initial investment. If you consider not having to buy any more equipment, as long as the loom lasts (which will be for a long time barring any accidents or the like), & if you get a lot of use out of it, the cost over time is actually quite low. I've always been fascinated by weaving, & this seems like a good tool to use for it. A good fit for small spaces, & such beautiful items can be made. I'm going to look for this or a similar product here on my part of Canada. ☺

You can wind the warp on as long as you want (as long as it fits on the back roller). You can weave one project and cut it off and weave another - it is a good idea to make the warp for more than one project as it save you time. Joins are no problem at all, there are many options depending on the yarn. The Ashford Book of Rigid Heddle Weaving is a great book full of instruction and techniques. www.ashford.co.nz/products/books/product/ashford-book-of-rigid-heddle-weaving

It takes less time to weave a scarf than to knit or crochet one. It's just a matter of learning, as with any new skill

Pat Portran I wouldn’t call someone that thinks it’s a lot of work lazy. It’s pretty cool, but that’s pretty intricate to try. I know the loom and material used probably wasn’t cheap either.

This is a great beginners loom...I say this but I don't have one yet. The scarf you made is almost the same shade as one I bought last year at the Blind School in Parnell👍🏼

It looks pretty simple to me. But maybe thats because I crochet and itd take me a lot longer to make something that large.

Thomas Finas crazy right. She does a great job. But the whole video she is just calmly taking the viewers through the instructions like we are doing a basic color by numbers. Yet I watched it. I often fall down a you tube hole and end up in the weirdest places, I even watch videos in languages I can’t speak. There is clearly something wrong with me.

This is a sample loom. To try out your warp, weft threads to see if you want to use them (is the design pleasing/colorways), and then warp up your bigger loom, whether it's a bigger table loom or a floor loom.

This is a really good tutorial, and showcased how the loom works. I‘m already loom knitting, but I have the Flexee links from KB, and you can put several of the stiff ones together to make a mini weaving loom. Kinda tempted to try, to be honest. =)
