After a dominant first half of the race that got interrupted by EA server issues causing everyone to disconnect, the whole 36-lap PSGL F1 Mexican Grand Prix was completely restarted.
An early safety car meant Jarno Opmeer was on a sub-optimal strategy, along with poor inner-team communication as well as frustration from the earlier server issue which prevented him from a potentially easy victory, the PSGL championship leader dropped outside of the Top 10, but recovered brilliantly with the help of his teammate Jake Benham, and a final lap overtake on his championship rival Thomas Ronhaar.

Stewards decision on the final lap overtake (L36 T5) Decision: No further action. Reason: Racing incident. The contact was primarily caused by Thomas Ronhaar who disregarded Jarno Opmeer's car placement upon going wide on the exit of Turn 5 and drove into their path. The stewards noted Jarno Opmeer turned in early but don't believe played any part in this contact.

should be a 5s penalty for Thomas. Went way too deep then didnt check his mirrors and just threw his car on the racing line at low speed. Could've cost Jarno a win there.

@@williamhobbs4202 doesnt matter. He could've ended Jarno's race there and it was a clear griefing move as hes not racing for the championship just trying to take Jarno out. He was lucky he didnt hit Jarno harder.

In Alfie's defence, he had been the whipping boy a fair bit that race... He was getting hit quite a lot, not to excuse him driving like his name was Thomas Ronhaar, but literally everyone in the top 5-6 except Jarno had hit him in the last few laps.

Thomas Rohnar is a dope IMO. He runs wide, tries to retake the racing line which Jarno is occupying and smashes into the side of him - then complains that Jarno "Turned in on him", when it was literally the other way around. Then to top it all off, Thomas doesn't leave any racing room through the corner or exit - and only avoided wiping Jarno out of the race thanks to Ghosting.

For those asking what Álvaro and Ismael said, the summary would be that Ismael is unlucky due to the wing damage, Álvaro predicted Jarno's victory after Benham's defence and said that Alfie is not the most intelligent driver on the grid (kind of).

Going by Thomas' steering input, he shouldn't be as quick as he is I think. Virtually all the other drivers are very smooth and precise, Thomas is very sharp and aggressive with his wheel - that style shouldn't work over race distances I think, otherwise others would do it.

time trial heroics, essentially. Lawrence has the same issue where he's stupid fast on a clean track but can't handle anything that involves getting close to another car well. Part of it's just inexperience, part of it is that they drive like they're going against the game's AI who typically jump out of the way when you do a dumb so you get away with it a lot.

This race for Jarno reminds me of the race where Lewis was having the exact same thing happen and he was completely in the dumps. His engineer kept him on track, told him to get on with it, and Lewis came back to win the race in dramatic and dominant fashion. In this case it wasn't the engineer that got Jarno back on track. It was the sacrifice Jake made to help Jarno catch the leaders and set up the win.

Everyone gets mad in the heat of the moment... but few people spout turnip-iq takes quite like Butcher and Ronhaar when it happens. Think that drives a lot of the hate towards them. It's one thing to maybe cross the line from aggro to dirty and maybe not know where the line is to begin with- plenty of racers in real life and sim, fast and slow and in between have that issue. It's another thing entirely to do that and then consistently refuse to take accountability.

I'm not Ronhaar hater and actually I LOVED watching him kick butt in the Haas. Bringing the lower tier teams some love and attention, loved it. Plus, he is a damn skilled sim driver, no doubt. Jarno Opmeer actually annoyed me the last couple of years with all the whining. BUT, I think I noticed Jarno was not turning the car this much nor was the car in the same spot compared to his real life hands and where the car was from his perspective. I'm telling you, that lag from Ronhaar which is obviously blinking orange must have jacked the placement of the cars for him or maybe even just his own car and the timing got ever so slightly messed up. Watching both Jarno and Ronhaar from behind, you see the car just magically move in the way. From Jarnos perspective, it was very smooth and clean, but still probably on the edge of course, but not bad at all.

TBH the blatant sandbagging to let some1 past before the drs would be instant penalty, prob drive through or 10 seconds if not a DQ in real life cuz its 1 dangerous, 2 just VERY unsportsmanlike conduct. It's those sorts of "smaller" things that need to change in F1 Esports imo, so that standards get better/stay higher.

Lifting a little while they are beside you is typically fine if it's not forcing another person to brake at dumb/unusual spots or more than usual. Before people jump on and say "but max did it in real life too" he didn't sandbag like that, just lifted while side by side, didnt cause other driver to need to slow dramatically or avoid him.
