People in the UK are getting in the habit of saying no mobile phones at ceremonies! I love it as makes for less work on the day. Spoils the shot all the mobiles.

I can't begin to explain how much I learn from these videos compared to any other youtuber/tutorial/guide/etc. Closing both doors halfway and using them to frame photos and cut down on harsh light on both sides was galaxy brain mode photography. Watching the GoPro completely blow the exposure back n forth demonstrates how harsh the lighting was, yet the resulting photos were great.

+Jim Alpin No offense. So please don't take it that way. Any good photographer will use manual focus to shoot a wedding. There should be no sound at all. I don't do weddings because you get one shot to get it right. If you can't shoot a photo without auto you shouldn't be photographing a wedding.
@vwchick24
@vwchick24 8 жыл бұрын
+Nina Shevchenko Do not shoot a wedding in auto! You will end up with photographs no bigger than an 8x10 because it will distort. Practice shooting people in motion. Weddings can not be redone. This is their big day.

There should be a general rule with weddings that have a hired photographer: no cameras allowed, including iPhones. I understand you want the memories too, but you are ruining what someone has paid for (Usually the people who are getting married)

Demanding location Dude. I think a 24-70 2.8 would have been a nice choice during the ceremony since you shot at 2.5 anyway. Something like a Canon 24-70 2.8 usm ii, since it has almost prime lense optics. Thanks for the videos!

I recently visited my daughter in Chicago who shoots with a Canon 6D. We compared shutter noise between her camera and my D750. Hers is so much quieter! I'm not about to switch to Canon, but the comparison did give me disappointment in my Nikon D750. I enjoyed your video of this wedding.

You did a great job! When it's so tight you just have to be ready for everything! I thought you might tap the pops but you did a good job staying out of the way and still getting the shot. That wasn't easy. Good analysis of the room. You have to be light on your feet. You even did a quick lens change to get in. I liked it! Learned a few things. Good stuff. How do you feel about the mirrorless cameras and electronic shutter. Those are dead silent! They wouldn't hear you anymore! You can change between mechanical and electrical. So you can shoot something like the vows if you thought it was necessary without distraction.

Yeah, I own an A7III and I was just thinking it would be perfect for this wedding because it is such an amazing camera. -Silent shooting(electronic shutter) -Electric viewfinder. In the video you mentioned you just set the exposure line to center which didn't get the shot right in camera so you had to fix it in post... I just use the EVF to get the shot perfectly exposed 100% of the time, in camera. -insanely fast focusing -10fps burst -battery practically lasts forever Not sure what Robert meant by the banding and significant motion... I have never seen any banding and I just raise the shutter speed if there is significant motion.

I think you guys make really good points about why the Sony's would be great and they would be great but my hands die when I hold a sony for a while with a heavy lense. (Ive got big hands suited to DSLR bodies) Hoping they release a DSLR size body for the ergonomics or canon or nikon do.

Thanks for posting this Taylor! You're a big inspiration to plenty newbie photographers, including myself. I'm second shooting my first wedding here in two weeks, and I've been cramming my brain with as much info as possible. Two questions.. One, would there be any way to get a video (Edited, or unedited.) from your gopro of an entire ceremony up on your channel? Watching someone work is the best way to learn, I say. I know that that'd be pretty long, but maybe cut out the bits that don't help that much? Maybe even just a 10 minute video of the stuff you thought was important. That'd be incredibly helpful to tons of people. If you've already got something like this up, or know of someone who has posted something like that, it'd be great if you could point me in that direction. And two, how do you mount the gopro? It's such a neat angle and I love it. I want to use it for my portfolio's promo video. Thanks again! Keep up the good work. You're one of my favorite photography channels. Hands down.

+treyishuman Thanks Trey! I'll for sure put up a full ceremony. Just waiting for one that I'm only doing photo for (I usually do photo/video coverage which looks super confusing on camera) I mount it with a flash bracket type thing that I put some extra pieces on to convert it into a tripod mount for the GoPro. I pretty much just went to the camera store and built a rig from accessories. If you find an easier way, let me know haha because mine looks pretty ridiculous
