got the Weebill S, and recently picked up something called the SteadXP, it's a gyroscope/accelerometer add-on to any camera which when rendered has better than GoPro EIS but on a Sony Cameras. So if I need the wide shots, Weebill. Handheld+SteadXP is gimbal like and less gear to carry around - love both.
@SePark

Hey Ninh! That is an interesting device! In fact I was just talking to Vu, the lead cinematographer about the future of gimbals since we have seen some insane digital stabilization on phones and action cameras. Apparently this technology has capabilities in smaller sensors, but on full frame it has some time to go. This SteadXP on the other hand just shows you what's coming in 5 years for full frame cameras. Got an idea for a YT video topic. Future of gimbals... Thanks for sharing that info.

@@SePark SteadXP was a KickStarter and it didn't do too well on KS but the technology is cool. I use it and pick them up used from the SteadXP usergroup on FB. Workflow is cumbersome but it's way better than taking a gimbal on family vacation and what not.

You can use sony bluetooth remote rmt-p1bt to control start stop movie and photo. Autofocus half shutter, af-on and c1 button -and even control the zoom clearzoom and digital. You can control tracking with that on the other hand or by stapping it to the gimbal with some smallrig stuff.

I just got this gimbal myself, my first gimbal and learning to use it. I'm previously a glidecam user all these years waiting for a portable gimbal which can handle my gear and this gimbal has impressed me a lot so far. I also have the transmission pack too and still learning to use it. I notice the gimbal is able to do object tracking while you are holding it but if you put it stationary will it still be able to do object tracking and move the motors to follow a object? My camera isn't supported by this gimbal so can't tell about that function. If you can shed some light about that would be great.

I got the Weebill S with a Sony A7R IV plus 24-105 lens. While its still front-heavy so doesn't fully balance, the motors handle it just fine once they kick in. I probably should have gone for the 24-70 GM lens but the reviews on that were so-so, plus I wanted the extra reach of the 105mm for my photography. I'm just glad that I can put that combo onto a gimbal for the few times that I shoot video. Regarding the Sony workaround disabling IBIS, might that be something we want to disable anyway? I heard another reviewer mention that IBIS might sometimes work against the gimbal.

Where are your Nike’s?😆 Anyway I have had the Weebill S for like 3 weeks and haven’t even turned it on yet. 😒 I just haven’t had anything in mind to film. It’s hard to be creative sometimes when I’m solo. I like that you have other video friends even if they’re on different camera setups.

Justin! Haha, my Air Gimbal shoes is scheduled to be released in 2029. Believe it or not, 98% of the time I'm stuck alone filming and thinking of things to film. I'm assuming it's probably colder in Utah, but it got cold here in DC fast. Definitely doing more solo shoots in the winter... 😅 Hopefully you would have opened your gimbal by my next video! You turn that thing on, you'll feel the motor power. That by itself was exciting! LOL

Se Park thanks I’ll be looking forward to putting a down payment on your Air Gimbal kicks as long as they can kick a smooth hole through the windows of the CyberTruck 😂 It has gotten cold here in Utah now. Snow coming tomorrow. This is the beginning on my camera/vacay season. Heading to Singapore and Thailand soon. Trying to decide if I want to bring the gimbal or not. Last year I went to Panama and brought the weebill lab and I only used it once. Just found it hard to have it out when I’m just roaming around taking pics and video clips. If I wanted stable video I just shot in slow mo. I have opened up the Weebill S and balanced my setup. Batteries were dead, so that’s why I never turned it on. I think I will today though. I need another creative mind to join me on a travel, so my travel videos are less lame. If you’re ever out and about during the winter, let me know

Haha dude your setup on your KZfaq channel art looks dope!! If you owned every Zhiyun gimbal since the original, you're obligated to get the Weebill S.... LOL jk.. I'm about half way done with editing the transmission video, but i'ts a good value for the price. Great for recording short videos (15-120 seconds). For long duration 20 min +, sometimes it does cut out when there is a lot of wifi signals around you. I did some long distance tests on the next video so you'll get a sense of how powerful it is. PS: and the last GTR shot is a lens flare by Video Copilot plugin called Optical Flares. Took about 1 hour to track and edit.

Great job. Thx for your work. I got the Weebill Lab and a Sony Camera. Beside the shake problems the most painful issues are that I can't use gimbal controls to use camera functions and IBIS (like you mention) and an external HDMI monitor (does only work with a special USB cabke from Zhiyun and another USB mode in Sony camera -> works but you lose camera control via the gimbal again). What about the Weebill S? Have the issues been fixed already or will they be fixed in future? With my Weebill Lab issues I contacted Zhiyun and Sony in past. Zhiyun is willing to do something. Sony seemed not to be interested.

I just picked one of these up, using the tameron 28-75 and a7III. What should I balance the gimbal at? 50? Also should I sell the RoNIN SC over this .
@SePark
@SePark 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Jj, many including myself would say 50, but really balance it close to the focal length you use the most. When I use the Tamron 28-75, I'm mostly just between 28-35 mm. So I usually balance it around 32mm. Weebill S motor has so much torque that even if I go to 75mm while being balanced at 32mm, it just handles it. If that's your favorite lens, Ronin SC is too cumbersome to use comparatively. I'm selling my Ronin SC. LOL

You mentioned that you balanced the 16-35mm GM at 20mm. Can the gimbal handle the lens extended all the way out to 16mm or will it be too front heavy?
@SePark
@SePark 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Leo, if I recall correctly, with the stacked ND filter set I had, 16mm was too front heavy so the eye piece would rub on the roll motor. Another thing is that the Weebill S quick release plate is too short for you to put the camera that far back. Practically though, if you balance it at 20mm, since you're going wider, the minor shake is not noticeable as say if you were going from 24 mm to 70 mm on another zoom lens. It really is just all small compromise to have the smallest powerful setup. DJI RSC2 is your other option but it is much heavier and you're not gaining that much more camera cradle space. Hope that helps!

Hi, thanks so much for your videos! A basic question:I use the sony a6600. I'm concerned about keeping the subject centered when I film. If I buy the Weebill S without the image transmitter can I use my cell phone, attached to the gimbal arm, as a monitor with the weebill s app? Or do I have to connect it directly to the camera. Thanks for any help!
@SePark
@SePark 4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for the kind comment! To answer your question in short: no unfortunately. In long, the app without the image transmission, just gives you basic setting change and controls. To see the image your camera produces, you will need the image transmitter. Standard HDMI monitor works but only for image purposes only. To track and center the subject, you will need the Zhiyun image transmitter. Having said that, nothing is more accurate than a manual subject tracking. 😄 Image transmitter subject tracking is great when it works but without good lighting and contrast, it will lag. My suggestion would be: practice and you will get amazing results without the image transmitter for subject tracking.

Hi Se. Thanks for the great video. Looking at buying the Sigma 12-24 f2.8 art lens with a Sony a7iii. Any idea whether the Weebill S would work with this combination? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@SePark
@SePark 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, that will fit and handle it. I am currently using Sigma 24-70 DG DN for Sony A7 III, and that setup is 40 grams heavier than the 12-24 setup. If you want even smoother footage, Crane 2S can handle it even better, but that is a much bigger setup.

Hi Se - great vid. I'm currently deciding between the weebill lab and weebill S for my first gimbal. I primarily shoot video run and gun style when I'm traveling overseas. Currently using a GH4 with a couple prime lenses (17/42.5) so the payload is quite light. I don't envision myself upgrading to a camera/lenses that are much heavier since I highly value portable gear. That said, would you still recommend the S over the lab?
@SePark
@SePark 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rocco! Appreciate that man! If you find a really good deal on Weebill Lab, it's not a bad gimbal for the price. Weebill S is much smoother on straight walking moves since the tilt motor is much stronger. Even for light setups, running or jogging straight does stress the motor. So if you find a Weebill Lab half the price of Weebill S, it's a good buy, if not Weebill S will serve you well. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching Rocco! Really helps the channel!

@@SePark Thanks for the response Se! I've been seeing the Lab cheaper, but not by a lot so will probably lean towards the S for the smoother performance. Thanks again and keep up the insightful vids!

hey! have you noticed the battery life shorten when using the heavier 16-35gm lens? I noticed after using this lens all day during a wedding, it died 6 hours in instead of the suggested 12 hour battery life
@SePark
@SePark 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sung! My colleague and I both used heavy setups past 4 weddings with this gimbal. We both had about 50% battery left after a 10 hour day. We must be doing some different moves on this gimbal. LOL. I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary. You know balance it perfectly, no microphone attached to the gimbal, and no cables attached to the camera. One thing I may suggest is that once the battery is done charging, switch the two battery's place and charge it again. One of my previous charger was defected like that and charged one battery more than the other, and that was the workaround.

Thanks so much! Yes mine is still going strong. I have a friend who broke the axis locks on it, but I don't transport my camera on the gimbal. True, this gimbal is not all metal and is not a tank, but if you take care of it, it will last. If you have dents and scratches on your camera, this gimbal is not for you. @SePark
@SePark 4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks man! I think I know what you mean by weird movements. Weebill S jerks when you tilt it and do an orbital move. I actually show an example of the jerk on my first Weebill S video. I haven't seen any KZfaq video on it, so I thought it was nice to point out the flaws. Zhiyun doesn't pay me to make any of these videos, but they did send me the gimbal to test. I think overall Weebill S is a smooth gimbal. At least the copy I got is smooth enough that I have been filming weddings without any issues. I did have to change all the sensitivity setting though. I am hoping to make a video about the settings.

Hi Norbert, it's called "MeFOTO WalkAbout Air Monopod" - sold on Amazon or B&H. It folds up so short that it fits in a backpack. Downside is that, it's not super sturdy. If you rough it up, it may break. :) The size overrides build quality on this one - sounds familiar right? LOL

I just used it on a wedding last Saturday but batteries only lasted 5 hours. Anyone with that problem?? I’d like the 14 hours :(. Anyone knows about replacement batteries?
@SePark
@SePark 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Veronica! 5 hrs seems way off. I had some issues with the charger that came with it after this video. It didn't fully charge it so I used my old Weebill Lab charger and that worked. (75% charge will still look like it's fully charged on the OLED screen). After the battery fully charges, try switching the left and right side and charge it again to see if that helps before buying anything. If you need replacement battery, B&H has it but it's back ordered. I also realize you may not be from the US - which case try searching for Zhiyun 18650 battery (3.6 volt). You will find that other generic 18650 batteries are slightly bigger than the Zhiyun ones and it's a tight fit (so I recommend Zhiyun brand). Hope that helps!
