DENVER (AP) Quarterback Fred Mortensen ran for two touchdowns and strong safety David Dumars returned an interception 78 yards for another score, leading the Denver Gold to a 21-19 United States Football League victory over the Birmingham Stallions on Friday night.
The victory marked the coaching debut of former National Football League quarterback Craig Morton and snapped a five-game losing streak for Denver, now 5-8. Birmingham had its five-game winning streak ended and dropped to 7-6.
A crowd of 38,829 about 4,000 below Denver's season average witnessed the contest.

USFL Forever Somebody yesterday put up the maulers at breakers game. I’m telling you all. It looks like he got it from the original ABC tapes. It’s unbelievable how great it looks. I’m not gonna name who uploaded it but it’s worth checking out for any USFL head!!

The halftime show was the band Alabama. My brother and I, had the best times ever going to these games. This year was also the time of Colorado's longest unsolved missing persons case. We remember Beth. Elizabeth "Beth Miller, Idaho springs, Colorado. C.b.i. case 8583 .

watching these old usfl videos is why i hope one of the new leagues can hit..i think they can if ran right. a- place teams in cities without existing nfl teams,or cities with multu spring and summer sports franchises

12 cities i would choose....birmingham, memphis,orlando,sanantonio, st.louis, columbus{ohio},tulsa,omaha, saltlake city, oakland, boise sherveport. eastern division,,,birmingham,memphis,ohio,orlando.sherveport,st.louis.. western.boise,omaha,oakland,saltlakecity,san antonio tulsa.

If the current USFL does pick teams and cities the teams will be in has to take it two ways TV market and potential of fans buying tickets.

At least Denver Gold replaced Red 🍒 Miller with Craig Morton who Red 🍒 Miller was with the Denver Broncos.

they didnt get excited after every play(over nothing most of the time) like these announcers do today

@@Mike-aka747 Yeah, some guy tackles some other guy or some receiver catches a pass, hey, that's what they're supposed to do. No high-fiving, no chest thumping, just get back to the huddle and go again. Damn, I miss those days.

Wessley McGrath and no tony romo telling you what’s gonna happen next play. Well maybe Lynn swann tried a hair lol but no as ridiculous as Tony Romo. For me the nfl is an unwatchable product these days. For many years in fact.
