I just keep on recalling Mega Man stating he was more than a robot, as though he adapted beyond the Asimov Rules of Robotics and can thus kill. The reploids can think and not be hindered by programming, but they are bound by law. Also, X DOES understand that war is the option and will fight when necessary. Because something is necessary, doesn't mean you have to like it. Also, a good deal of X's enemies were reploids who weren't evil, but wanted a reploid nation free of humans.

One thing I like about MvC is the closeness you are to the characters. In MvC2 it was backed up so far that to me it felt like a step backwards. thinking in retrospect of course.

X doesn't hesitate in a fight, his main enemy, as I mentioned, just keeps resurrecting. Only in an OVA did it show otherwise, before the games. How many times in war stories does someone note they don't WANT to kill but HAVE to. Also, you said X's problem was his ideology if I'm correct, so he is standing up for his ideals. Classic Mega Man thought to kill Wily in 7 but didn't do it, after claiming to be "more than a robot" and hesitated. He then had at least 3 other tries and didn't do it.

Technically, it was 7 before Command Mission since X8 was made after Command Mission. X's 1, 2, and 3 was a standard soldier thing "will the fighting ever end", something humane. X4, Zero may have been worse with his emotions. X5, all I caught was "I don't want my friend to die" and a hope for the future in the end, same with X6. Even with all that, I only recall that stuff in the end before X7. Also, mentality of fighters mean nothing in cross-over fighters without plot.

I did say Classic Megaman was bound by the three absolute laws.Robots in the classic series are not the same as reploids,they do have emotions,but they have limited freewill.If not for that,Wily would have been killed at that moment.Reploids are not bound by the three absolute laws,they can follow through with killing a human,and not be set back by programing.No one is going to tell you that war is a just decision because it isn't.It's only the lesser of two evils,which X doesn't understand.

First, life and no-life is the same to me. Second, X was made as a successor to the classic Mega Man, who wasn't a fighter by choice, he was a lab assistant who had to fight by circumstance. X was supposed to be the start of a new generation of robots, not a warrior. It can be respected because he is thinking like a human, he wants the fighting to end. It doesn't help that, unlike Wily who escapes, his enemy Sigma is killed over and over and keeps coming back. Also, I respect your research.

I don't, that's what makes characters like Zero and Wolverine so amazing. They are complex, you have to look at all sides to truly understand them. It's not that they don't have emotions, in fact they have raw emotion, it's just that they are realists. With their comrades they can be kind and wise, but in the face of their enemies, mercy holds no meaning. It isn't just one sided with characters like them.

MVC2 is a lot less broken. In MC1, if the players know what they're doing, one hit means a dead character, no meter. MVC2 has spin out so you have to go for resets. And MVC2 has so many characters.

Well, at least Classic Megaman thought to kill Wily. While Megaman was by no means a fan of violence, he never pulled any punches, but he was somewhat bound by the three absolute laws. X is meant to be an adult and is also fighting in a war, a situation were standing up for yourself and not hesitating to kill when necessary is a much bigger deal. In war you must strike to kill, you have no choice. Because if you don't kill them, they will kill you. That's why X is not a good protagonist.

there's a difference between god-awful characters put in for laughs and a character that has potential, but is never used competitively, and i've played both of those kinds of characters in a fighting game before, but if you can wow your opponent with a bad character, even if you lose, that's an accomplishment to me, which i've seen it happen too

Maaaaan I freakin miss Gambit he was the man back in the day. Agh what where they thinking not including him in the mvc3 roster. Such a beast...just a random cajun with a stick and a deck of cards lol. Hopefully this year was just the beginning for the return of fighting games.

Max, Megaman is not a lowtier, or mid-tier. He's actually really really fucking good. The current God-tier Meta is GWM+WM, and Megaman is the best counter to this Meta. There is also Morrigan and Lilith. It really all depends on the player and not the characters. Capcom rosters may seem weak at mid-high level, but at high-end-beyond level, they excel.

Personally, I hadn't noticed X's idealism, and I think the only time it caused a problem was in X7 when he ditched before for a peaceful solution. It can be tolerated because I don't recall examples of him moaning about them.

The infinites in this game are even easier. For example, Gambit's infinite. It's just alternating two buttons off of a juggle. That's easier than any "intermediate combo" that can do 100%.

I never said X didn't have power. In fact, it's because he has so much power that infuriates me. If X wasn't so softhearted and actually USED IT, I wouldn't have so many problems with him. But his blind idealism and inability to SHUT UP about his hatred for conflict keeps him from being a decent character.

I played ONE Megaman user on PS3 the second day this came out and I haven't seen one since.

regardless if megaman fans really wanted him in umvc or any future mvc in the works they should show their pride in him by at least playing him more often in the re-release of the first mvc :P showing yes we want megaman and we want him badly. not because he is top tier but because he is fun and we love him.

18:32 Capcom forgot how to make good Megaman games. So they shipped it off to Inti-Creates. Long story short, Inti creates made some pretty good Megaman games that sold pretty badly. So Megaman is now out of a job like a lot of us in this bad economy.
