Yard/garden is looking beautiful! Free Little Library or a Blessing Box (for food) might be possible projects for you--either making your own or contributing to some that already exist may be something to look into for you. Happy Belated Father's Day to Robin!

Karen i'm in the south and have many pine trees. We have always used the pine needles for mulch . I second the idea of another battery for your weedeater . After years i finally broke down and purchased a second ! All i can say why did i wait !!!

When I was in middle school, I took care of the yard work. With the corresponding budget. We had a big yard with oak trees and pine trees, both of which were always dropping needles and leaves that were too much for the grass as well as sticks. So I had to rake the grass. But I would use the sticks to border outline the space around the trees and then used the leaves and needles for mulch. It was very effective and looked quite nice!

You might try putting a plant saucer under your tomatoes so that the water that collects in it can wick back to the roots.

Belated Happy Father’s Day to Robin. Sounded like you had a relaxing day. Glad that you got everything you wanted to declutter to the dump. Karen you know you are more of a minimalist than you give yourself credit for. Minimalism isn’t an empty home, as you know, it’s simply keeping what serves you and disposing of the rest; and then being really mindful about the new things you bring into the home. That is where minimalism can be difficult for some I think, maybe. Anyway, your garden is coming along really nicely, despite the fact the deer ate your hanging baskets. I love how well your tomatoes, peppers, herbs and lettuce are doing, even though you had all that rain. Regards the chamomile you can stake it with thin sticks and garden twine. Always remember to keep removing the flowers and using them for tea or dead head regularly to encourage more flowers to develop. If it gets too straggly you can trim the shoots that have no flowers to encourage thicker growth. Did you know you can also use the leaves to make tea? They can be eaten on their own as well. They are especially great in a salad if you chop them and mix a small amount with chopped butter or baby lettuce, olive/avocado oil, salt, chopped tomatoes and a quick spray of lemon juice. It is wonderful for calming and easing anxiety. As for your rose bush, may I suggest you leave it to grow up a little before you prune it into shape. However, if it starts to get too leggy then you should trim it to thicken it out from the base.

We have a small pole chainsaw, it’s very safe I use it a lot every summer. I have cut up to 5 inch trunk size, but scrappy half dead trees. But whatever you have I’m sure Robin will teach you well.

I want to be a minimalist too! I have gotten rid of so much in the last few years. It feels so good to have less, and I’ve noticed my house is so easy to clean now! I have more time on my hands, so now I’ve started volunteering every week at the food pantry in my city. There are so many benefits to decluttering!

Throw out the old bulky mattresses too. Use some of your ad money to buy nice air mattresses for guests. Get the nicest kind with the built in pump and the attached headboard. Easy to store and use.

Hi Karen. If you can get a second battery for your trimmer then you can just swap them out on the charger and you should have enough to do the whole job instead of having to wait 😊

Also if you are growing any regualr peppers like bell peppers I just learned that you gotta pick the flowers off the first few weeks so you don't have tiny peppers. I didnt' realize that for years but this year I am doing it.

you can use support stakes with twine to help chamomile plants from becoming top heavy, especially during warmer months. Chamomile can spread quickly.

Hi Karen, looks like "blossom end rot". Easy way to remedy is throw in 3-4 tums antacid and water in! I have done this for years and works like a charm!

On the tomato plant you asked if you should get rid of the leaf...The whole long stem could go as nothing is growing on it and it taking the nutrition of the tomatoes from the growing tomatoes

As mentioned, the rot at the bottom of the tomato is blossom end rot. It is caused by a lack of calcium, exacerbated by fluctuations in watering (generally too much). If the holes in the bottom drain directly out you could put a dish under it. It is fine for the top of the soil to dry out. That will encourage it to draw water from the bottom as needed. Additionally, too much "salts" (ie, chemical fertilizer) and too much nitrogen (also fertilizer) can be a problem. I usually put dried pulverized eggshells in the bottom of the hole when I plant tomatoes to help with slow release calcium. However, that's an annoying process :) You could try planting in raised beds next year? I got 6 of them @$30 each I think for the kids for Christmas (2'x4', maybe a foot tall, metal). (yeah, I'm that mom, haha). More soil tends to be easier than smaller containers, at least for me. I have had good luck with cilantro and chamomile re-seeding. Mint usually comes back in force too, though I'm not experienced with the specialty mints like apple mint. I'll bet it smells divine. I wonder if you could root some cuttings and plant some indoors just in case. Do you plan to dehydrate the herbs for later use or use them all fresh? I have a summer mix of tea herbs that is fun to brew in the winter.

FYI, i HAVE youtube premium and I dont' get the ads but I know you still get paid per view through premium not sure how it works. But I checked for all the creators i love like yourself. I did find this if it helps and you want to share with viewers. Also they offer a 50% off a month student discount. for anyone who qualifiies. Any age and education level. … Yes, KZfaq Premium members' monthly fees are shared with creators based on how much of their content is watched. This provides creators with a secondary revenue stream in addition to what they earn from ads. The more videos a creator's fans watch, the more money they make
